Nope just life, the things you things and feel and experience. Though it does happen it is very rare to read a truly interesting and deep fic from someone below the age of 15 (it does happen its just rare...sorry you 15 year old.)

The reason is too write from the heart to portray characters well and to write a realistic but interesting tale, you have to experience life. For example how can you write a lemon if you've never had sex?

I also find writing through my experience is like an exorcism, really helps you get through them. I wrote my first GW fic Three Little Words based on a rather painful experience of first love.

My current fic Superposition is based on subsequent thoughts on ideas of love and romance in life and society and of my experiences of the gender gap in a group of friends.

My main fic Honour and Pride was based on thoughts I've had on what it is to be a true man and a martial artist.

Though I often do use songs to help me write, I feel the song should relate to something you already feel and want to say rather than make you think of something. :D

Sorry if I'm getting preachy *gets off soapbox (OWN soapbox)*

wow. that's deep. You almost make me feel as if I shouldn't be writing. (I've never had a boyfriend and I write about love in all my fics.) You know, I never really went through most of what I put my characters through. I mainly just write from an emotion and base the events off what I feel the character is feeling.

So long as you've felt that emotion in some form.

But hey this is just my OPINION...I'm not much of a writer. And besides this is all kind of hypocritical, I'm only 21 theres much I haven't experienced too. However I start with what I have felt, thats my inspiration and my basis for all of my characters feelings and thoughts...everything else flows from that.

Though it makes it a bit harder to write women

Again...that's just how I do it...and not very well at that.

I fully agree that all writing should be heatfelt, and in order to do that you must have experience in the topic, but just because your not a certian age doesn't mean that you wont have that experienced enough of the world to write. Some young people have experienced more than other twice their age, or just have that kind of mind that can dive into deeper topics.

Experiences are individual to every person. Insparations from life can be two different things from two different people that were in similar situations. It's just how each person views the world and what they take from it. I realy don't think age has as much to do with it as your own take on life.

I usually start with a plot or something I already saw on tv or I already read about or based on songs, but my imagination always twists it into something new

interesting...who knew quantun physics could inspire stories... I'll have to read some and see how they turn out. hmm...

Oh, and I usually get ideas from things I read. I recently read a bunch of 2xH stories, inspired me to write one of my own. And so forth. Little tidbits that jump out at me and beg me to write them.
