Got writer's block? Want to improve your prose? Grammar and spelling gotcha down? Then get out your sock puppets and chuck your sanity to the wind! (sanity is the number one block to writing)
What inspires you to write a story? Where do your ideas come from?
What usually inspires me is my own imagination at the twists I can through at the characters and how I'm going to end it, (very rarely do I know in advance). My ideas come from quotes, stories, books, tv, movies, etc. I get too many and most just sit on my hard drive waiting for me to continue . What about everyone else?
Inspiration, you ask? Mighty good question. *ponders* My ideas can come from various places at various times. Sometimes a thought mixed with lyrics from a song can inspire me. Or maybe something someone says in a show and I sit back and think, "What a marvelous idea!" Perhaps the latest novel I'm reading will inspire me in some strange way (it has happened), with a certain character or a certain scene, or again, that one quote that says "Write about me, you know you want to." Creativity with feedback from my surroundings. I suppose that's the best wy to describe my inspiration.
Friends are good for ideas too...especially when they do something silly or rather idiotic at a precise moment in time.
there is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
a lot of things inspire me. Movies, anime, songs...If i'm in the mood, almost anything can inspire me...

Since I mostly write short one-shots, my inspiration is usually a picture, or an emotion that I attempt to convey in words.

Tomorrow shall be my dancing day
I would my true love did so chance
To see the legend of my play
To call my true love to my dance
Sing O my love, O my love, my love, my love
This have I done for my true love!
Going forwards is just fine. It''s when I go backwards that I start to have problems. ~Panic
When I used to write songfics, it is the song and lyrics that inspires me. Also, my creative mind and imagination helps me a lot. Some authors/books, mayhap movies, and a few other things may give inspirations. Though my imagination is top in my list.
And don't forget anime. Definitely anime/manga helps a lot.

I get inspired by things I see all around me, all the time. My problem is getting the ideas down on paper (or computer, rather) and actually getting them finished. ^^;
Like, for example.. I get inspiration from songs and lyrics mostly. Recently (something I'm going to try and type, actually) I got inspiration for a Furuba fic from a single line in a Goo Goo Dolls song- "It always rains like hell on a loser's day at the race." From the song Broadway. OMG. <3

For me it's reading through my old stuff, or someone elses ... music, (believe it or not...) exercising and long baths, AND lying in bed, trying to fall asleep... that's when I usually want to get up and write, but I'm a lazy one and like to sleep... also it's watching a certain series and such, that works, too.
Personaly, insparation only ever comes if I'm not looking for it. My idias come from my own head, but the things in my head are triggered by my surroundings.
Since I have quite the random, roaming mind, my idias are usually just thoughts along to way. I'll be listening to a song, and think of acome up with a sceen between two characters that conveys the atmosphere of the song. Or I could be thinking of something that happened to me and how it made me feel and I'll think up a character that could either understand how I'm feeling or doesn't know what it;s like to feel that way at all. Or maybe I'll be in the tub rlaxing when I sceen comes to mind.
As you might see, I also have a very cinematic mind, and most of my idias come from seeing something in my head that could happen or something of the sorts. Real life example: I was thinking of marching band, and I saw a camera glideing over a preforming band and I heard a narator talking about what I had been thinking about. It ended up being the opening sceen for a script I was writing for class.
