Song fic's

It's funny. Actually well the two songfics I wrote.. technically the opera fic "Love Among the Ruins" that I'm writing isn't a songfic, but I find that lyrics to a song can inspire the story. But when I wrote my other song fics, I was listening to the songs that I used lyrics from and I found that the mood of the song AND the lyrics really suited the mood of the story I wanted to write. So at least in my case anyways, I don't think my songfics were leaning on the song per se. I think that I was trying to re-emphasize the emotions in the story.

Well, after managing to read all your replies, I feel somewhat obligated to add in my part.

Yes, I have written some songfics and probably will continue to do so in the future. However, my first ones, I have to admit, have me cringing in horror and give me the urge to make it explode within the fireplace. Oh my goodness, those stories were just BAD! *shudders*

And yet, there are two that I'm very fond of. One is an Inuyasha story between the hanyou and his mother, featuring the lullaby "Baby Mine" from Disney's classic film, Dumbo. Assuming that most people have heard or watched the film at one time or another, I was quite happy with what I've done there.

The other one is more... personal. It was to commemorate the memory of a friend whose life was quickly taken away by a car accident. I'm not sure whether it was the best way to approach the story (or my emotions at that time being), but somehow it just seemed to 'fit.'
