Lost
Disclaimer: ?Meh?
AN: At some point we all will be delirious. Lost and on our own, unsure where we?re going but not sure we care. Yet trying to curb the strangely cheated feeling we have with something that doesn?t make a lot of sense. This is what this is about.
Also-I know the manga is over, I am the one who posted it's end, lol, but I wrote this in 06, long before it had ended. :p I was feeling really down-but re-reading it made me almost cry, hope to get some sort of the same reaction from readers. So-without further adieu:
It?s hard when you?re the only one left. The only one still alive, even if barely?Lying there surrounded in your own blood, knowing that you?re dying and you can?t stop it, but not really caring because everyone else around you is-already gone.
Kagome lay there, just like that, bereft of everything, and everyone. She knew she was on her way out too?and it just felt horrible to be the last one alive. Somewhere in her mind she felt like she should be grieving. After all her companions were dead. The first and last love of her life was gone, without even knowing how she had felt? But at this point, steadily losing all her blood she just couldn?t quite bring herself to--care.
She lifted a now anemic looking black and blue hand toward the cold, clear night sky; watching with a sick fascination as her blood trickled slowly down her arm staining her ripped and dirty sleeve. She wished she had the strength to pull herself over to her wished for lover, the strength to at least cry. But it was waning.
She found herself quietly singing after a bit?Her hand swaying slightly in the deathly silent breeze that seemed to make the stars waver.
?I don't quite know how to say how I feel? Those three words aren?t said too much, they're not enough ?If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world? Forget what we're told, before we get too old, show me a garden that's bursting into life??
Slowly her hand sank from the sea of stars and fell across the hand of another. As the quiet winds blew a few strands of hair across her face she slowly turned it to one side-looking almost sightlessly at the mangled body of the hanyou. Her lids moved, but neither closed nor opened, blood dripped steadily from her lips as they formed a smile.
They?d lost, but it didn?t matter. The pain was going away?and she was at Inuyasha?s side? The place she?d promised to always be. She was alone now, but she?d soon join them, soon she wouldn?t be alone. Her fingers curled lightly around the cold clawed hand-and something that seemed like sleep overtook her senses. Closing her sightless eyes half way with the smile still on her face she slowly dropped off to sleep. She still never uttered the words she?d longed to say?.But it didn?t matter. She had been the only one left?
The only one?

Lost

When the dream fades
And reality is all that's left
A good story-book
Can bring it right back again.
