Mission briefing: KGB threatening code name WHISPERED candidates. Believed target: Kaname Chidori, 16, Tokyo, Japan.
Mission status: Critical<br>
Mission personnel: Sergeant Magjor Melissa Mao; Sgt. Kurz Weber, and Sgt. Sousuke Sagara, Arm-Slave specialist; Mission objective: To protect Kaname Chidori from KGB kidnapping plot, without alerting the Japanese gov't or target as to the identity of super-secret military organization, code-named MITHRIL. <br>
Kaname: Why are you following me?!
Sousuke: It's just coincidence.
Okay... so I've seen in some fan fiction that supposedly the only music Sousuke likes is that which involves bagpipes (Yes, the Scottish type where guys wear skirts--don't hate me for saying that, I don't know the name of those things they wear!) So... is this something that some random fan fiction writer made up, or is it something original from one of Shouji Gatou's stories? I've only read the translated versions of the novel that were posted in Boku-Tachi, which only go up to COMO, and a couple of Fumoffu-type stories, so if someone can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it!
LOL... I knew the name of their "skirts" started with "K"! Well... at least I know now what it is they actually wear. In the mean time, I am hopeful that someone will come with the answer to my question.
Well, I haven't read much more than you, but I've never come across this reference OUTSIDE a fanfic (actually, I can't remember coming across it then, either, but the line does sound familar). I check the wikipedia page (which is suprisingly comprehensive) and there's no mention there. Even if it is canon, as long as you're setting your story after the current arc, I think you're safe. After all, Sousuke has evolved quite a bit in the course of the series, even if he doesn't think so. Just say that Kaname, or even Shinji, introduced him to the style of music / artist you want him to be listening to.
BTW, remember how I offered you the pick of my next story? Well, I promptly got sick and then The Block, but it's loosening - so with any luck, it'll show up in the next couple of weeks. It's actually two stories - one is set earlier in the Grand Timeline, and the other is about Wraith, surveillance and Sousuke and Kaname's sex life - which could be set in the GT.
Hahaha... that is awesome! I'll be looking forward to those stories. Not to worry about getting the stories out there. Sometimes we get writer's block (which I'm experiencing right now... and for the last few months!), so it's better to wait for a great story than to read something disappointing that shows lack of effort and/or creativity. I'm nowhere near as great of a writer as you, but hey, I do my best
Thank you for your suggestions, by the way. I have read the wikipedia article in the past, and I didn't find any reference to that either. But, who knows. Maybe this whole thing arose from one of those fumoffu type stories that have nothing to do with the more serious and continuous timeline (COMO, DVMC, etc). Granted, I don't know any Japanese--at least nowhere near enough to read a book!--so I only have the translated versions that Boku-Tachi worked on, and now it's a matter of waiting for Tokyopopp to translate the rest, even if they take their sweet time. Yeah, I know... they wait forever so that each novel can have a selling period, etc., but oh well. Today I will be going to Barnes and Noble to buy the first Tokyopopp Full Metal Panic book and other recommended books. Yay, books!
Hah! I found out today that the first book is FINALLY coming in to my anime/manga store next week - it's only taken them six weeks! I couldn't even find it at Borders, and they usually get everything (unless they only got, like, three copies and I missed them before they sold?). Next book? I'm getting it directly from the tokyopop website! But DAMN! I gotta wait until January!?
Haha... yeah, no kidding.. I got mine yesterday, I was so excited! Welll... not to mention that I spent over US$250 that I didn't need to spend on a stack of other books, but bookstores are evil like that... and I just happen to have a weakness for books.
