ART LESSON NO.1: CHARCOAL
Teach me another - a new music, a new art
your strange sonata movement, concentration - fingers blur
teach me to sketch - press thumb down here
dark chocolate stick in hand - swirling mouth to ear
fingers candy wrap around mine
to page two page flip page new page
smudge lines between friends and lovers
my fingerprint here
whorls patterned like Japanese rock gardens.
Sit close to me; curved back to fluttering chest
you can't see straight anymore, draw eyes closed
a singular line trails off course
see? I drew a foot.
On my cheek - marks of pencil gray, dear
mark me gray, your eyes of gray
charcoal bright dim light (but your irises are brown).
We dream on finger-printed sheets.
Press my coal-dusted thumb to your skin, sleeptalk to me
stay awake
make my profile - don't wash off memory don't fade
bite my lip, follow my silhouette
teach me another new portrait on this
narrow canvas bed
your feet are cold, you say, hug me
I snort derisively.
I'll listen to this music
teach me to follow to gray
and I will memorize you.
