?To outer space everyone of us!?
He is crying. almost weeping. It is not the battle that causes him pain. Not the physical onslaught his body is going through. It is not even the very real possibility of dying. No. He cries for what could be. For he knows if they all acted together, as one, they would succeed. The heart tells him that. The heart of space only he listens to.
But I?m the only one listening to his cries. The others are deaf to them. I am the only one who has ever listened. For it was his voice that awoke me from my deep slumber. Others worked on me, I know. Others had made me. But the only pilot I took notice of is him.
?Hello Sandrock. Will you help me??
It was this softly spoken question that awoke me. Ever since then he is only one I have paid attention to. I did help him. I continue to help him. I became his companion, his protector, his friend. Alone he trained, defying his family?s ideals. Only I trained with him, only I kept him company. His never wavering partner.
When we arrived on earth, we met others. They followed him, but could not challenge him. And so he was still alone. Surrounded by warriors who would give their lives for him, I was the only one with him. For, the others did not have the heart that spoke to us. So we fought endless battles alone. Sometimes they were easy, sometimes they were not. I did not mind the fight; but him with his kind heart, always apologized for my doings.
And then it changed. Our lonely existence disappeared. What was just another fighter turned into more. For this time, our opponent could hear the heart of space as well, even if he did not realize it. And so the boy called to him and asked him to stop, and he did. And he was no longer alone. This boy, who had only me to call his companion, met another like him. Kindred spirits they are. Soon others arrived as well. Five all in all, including us. Five pilots. Five machines. Five kindred souls who could hear the heart of space and bring about a change.
But they did not listen to the heart, ignored it?s words. And so they failed. They were tricked . One died. The five souls turned to four. And defeated they separated.
But the boy has not lost hope.
And so we are here again, in the midst of battle, hoping our sacrifice will open their eyes. Out of the darkness a voice calls out. ?We are right, we are?
?They got it, they all understood our message?
It worked. Our message broke trough. The boy is joyful. For the five are together once again. Heading to the same place, to space. Even the boy who was gone has returned. But it is a hard fight and not all can make it. They will surely be shot down once they take of. And so a sacrifice is needed. But the boy can not die. He is the one who hears the heart the most, and so he can not die. I will not be the one to cause his death. And so I let him go. He who awoke me. I watch him as he hurries to the ship. He has been my master. He gave me life.
But the path I chose is mine alone.
Others did not see me, only he. He made me think and he made me be.
And now, for him, I will be no more.
