Several weeks had passed since that night, but both of them had branded it to their memories. Relena couldn?t believe the man she longed for for so very long had done something so intimate and special with her. Heero couldn?t believe that someone was able to make him lose control.
They had decided the next morning, or rather Heero decided, that they would never let it happen again. In Heero?s mind, he was not worthy of taking this person who he valued so much. He still thought he was nothing compared to her. She deserved so much better than him.
Because he never brought up that night and acted like nothing happened, Relena knew his decision and accepted it. The night had healed her in so many ways ? made her feel excited and very human, just like when she first met him. And she always had it sealed away in her heart.
They went along with their daily routine without anyone expecting a thing. With the upcoming election, Relena had a whirlwind of speeches and responsibilities. She refused to slack in her duties as the Vice Foreign Minister to run for President. Somehow she still managed to attend all her conferences, debates, and give several public speeches. She was always traveling now, at least that is how it seemed to her and her very tired guards.
Until two weeks ago, Heero had attended all of her trips but was called away suddenly by the Preventers for a ?special project.? She did not realize how his silent presence had made the week so much more bearable until he was gone.
?All I have to do,? she mused, ?was give one more speech near home and then I get a whole week off from traveling.? The back of her mind screamed ?a whole week near Heero,? but she brushed the thought aside.
Her speech went wonderfully, or perhaps she thought so because she felt him near her. She had not seen him yet, but knew he was there, somewhere. The audience loudly applauded one of her plans and a happy smiling Relena was escorted to a near car to go home. She was so tired that she went straight to bed to dream of him.
Later that night, Heero climbed into his bed, tired from his long day and from not sleeping well lately. He was instantly asleep. He had been near her earlier that night, watching and protecting her from the shadows and he had done so many times.
It wasn?t long before his dream began, although somewhat different at first. He saw Relena smiling brilliantly to the crowd tonight. He watched her speak, but was unable to hear the words. She was so beautiful standing there, but her clothes didn?t seem right. They didn?t do her justice. Her long red silk nightgown, the one she wore that night they slept together, looked much better on her. The way it clung to her curves without really showing off too much of her body. The way it slid off her body as she laid naked underneath him, reaching out to touch him, writhing with pleasure, calling his name. He could her moaning, arching her back, wanting all he would give.
Heero woke, breathing heavy and startled. This dream had to stop. He couldn?t take advantage of her again. He couldn?t do this. But he wanted to. God he wanted to.
Before he knew it, Heero found himself in Relena?s room, hoping she wanted him, hoping she wasn?t asleep. Unfortunately, she was. As he guilty turned away, he heard a light voice say, ?Is there something you wanted??
As he turned around again and began to walk slowly to her, Relena saw his intense eyes, the way that flicked over her body, and knew instantly what he wanted. She reached out for him, anxious and ready. She wanted it too.
The next morning, Relena woke to found Heero had long gone. She kicked off her covers and hummed happily as she dressed. He had come to her. He wanted her.
She walked down the stairs passed the study for breakfast when she overheard two voices talking in low tones. Normally, she would have given them their privacy, but she heard Heero talking.
?Where were you last night man??
?It must be Duo he was talking to? Relena thought.
?Oh come on buddy, you can tell us!?
?It?s none of your business, Duo? Heero stated flatly.
?Well, well, must be someone new. That girl last week went home. Our Heero sure is getting around!?
Relena darted around the corner to a spare room, wishing she had not heard that conversation. She knew that she had no claim on him, but she never expected, nor even thought there might be someone else. Apparently, she was wrong.
