Who's read the most?

I need a volunteer.

Someone who has read a ton of fiction. I figure betareaders are the best suited for this. Someone with discriminating taste and who has read a lot of fanfiction.

This can even be 2-3 someone's, but they have to be able and willing to work together.

And it's going to require some work. You're going to have to read fanfiction and make recommendations. I'm thinking of getting rid of some of these featured author forums because the authors have gone on to other fandoms and no longer update. It's not anything personal against them. We still want to have their fics up as "recs". But having an entire forum is making the index page cumbersome.

Besides, there's a lot of other talent out there and a lot of other good fics.

So, who wants to head up rec-ing fics. Right now, I'm looking for 1xR only, to see how it goes. Unless someone has a better idea.

I'm taking suggestions. Here and in the Administration forum.

How long do you anticipate this project is going to be? Indefinitely? Just through the season? I'd be game. Happy to help out with anything organization/editor-wise. Very good at both.

Ok, will do. I'll shoot you a PM. I want all kinds of fanfic. I also want to taper down the Featured Authors list of forums. I'm more than happy to add to the list that can post in the Featured Authors forum, but the individual forums that aren't being updated need to be removed and the fics archived in the Featured Authors forum so we can make way for new writers.

Can you do that for me? I'll also need you to be on top of me about it. I'm good about explaining what I want and getting ideas, but I need someone who will take charge and execute with minimal supervision and prompting. I need someone who will take a stab at it and then come ask me what questions they ran into. So we can resolve them together. Not someone who's going to sit around and say: well, I volunteered. If Rose really wants it done, she'll come find me.

I'm not saying you'd do that, I'm stating that's what I need.

Is it still something you want to do?

The coming up with recs, I would think maybe released once a month or once a week, whatever the individual editor would consider possible. I want it to be a regular feature. This is the what I read, this is what was good, this is what people should take a peek at. And why.

The other side of that is if you read it on another site, I want you to invite them to post here, too. So it's promotion to some extent as well.

So, right now, one position for cleaning up Featured Author forums. I'm thinking 3 editorial positions for rec-ing fanfiction.

And then I want a challenge/contest liason. And that may require more than 1 person to do that.

And again, if anyone can think of other ideas/suggestions, please voice them.

Will we be notified that our forum is coming down a bit in advance so that we can save the comments we have?

The comments shouldn't be deleted. We'll move the topics into the Featured Authors forum.

But yes, we'd notify the authors assuming their email addresses are still in tact. Some of them are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay gone. Those are the ones I'm talking about. Not ones that might write occasional *cough* maid *cough* smuttage for our OTP from time to time.

I could do the recc-ing fics! I've read a lot of fanfics--especially on here. And I need something to do while the school year is winding down. :]
