Chapter 13
Sesshoumaru: Tenshi
Part 2
::
This Sesshoumaru is not in love with the miko.
This Sesshoumaru is not in love with Rin.
To fall in love with human beings is impossible. It cannot be!
Sesshoumaru shook his head disappointedly as he flew through the forest, easily dodging branches and leaves alike. He was swift and smooth like the wind -he was going to be a commander of a fleet soon enough. He possessed skills of a leader and a warrior, he knew he had owned the Maker's trust and he was proud of it. He was proud to be in such great honor to be of service to the Maker and he was getting higher up the ranks. He was actually getting closer to the Creator, it flooded his insides with such pure thanksgiving.
Had he not let the demon slip from his grasp, he probably could have been awarded with a higher position sooner.
But somehow, a strange idea crept inside his head. He was starting to recognize the feeling of relief to know that he had not brought Naraku to the Maker just yet. Because once he was assigned commander of fleet, he was surely to be destined up in Heaven for good. That meant that he would not longer be anywhere near the miko.
"You are in love with the miko?"
"No?" Sesshoumaru told himself. What he was supposedly in love with was the Maker Himself -no one else. That was why he was created -to serve and honor the Creator. He was not created to love and be with the humans.
Perhaps this Sesshoumaru should stop seeing her?? he thought as he stopped to settle near a river. He sat down by the grass, unable to think of the right destination to go to. Had he forgotten his mission just now? He put his sword beside him and after a few flaps, hid his wings from the world. Would she come today? To put peace on his restless self, he lay down the grass and welcomed the soft blow of the wind against his hair. He was about to rest a sleep when he took a whiff of her familiar scent.
"Tenshi," Rin spoke, sitting beside him and lay on the grass as well. "How was your day?"
Filled with thoughts of you, he wanted to reply. Instead he shrugged and answered, "Nothing out of the ordinary." It was not really a lie? Was it?
"Is that so?" she asked. "Do you want to know about mine?"
"Why not."
"Well," she started, "All my days have been out of this world."
Sesshoumaru opened his eyes and turned on his side to look at her. "Why is that?"
Rin turned to her side so they were face to face. With a smile, she said, "Because I spend my days with you."
The angel did not know what to do. He was stunned as he lay on the grass, occupied with shock and blankness. But she did have point, didn?t she? Because who in this entire land had the chance to spend their free time with an angel like she did? He blinked and gulped. "Ah..."
Rin laughed softly. She stood up from the grass and held out a hand. "Hey? come with me and be a guardian angel, would you?"
"Why?"
"Just come with me!" she said, taking her hand in his.
Sesshoumaru stared at their entwined hands, his chest filled with too much perplexity. As he was lead to somewhere he wasn't completely aware of, he occupied himself with questions of why her hand felt so warm in his. He felt his whole body grow warm with somewhat a strange liking. Was it affection? Was it? He did not know. He did not want to know. He returned to consciousness when she let go of his hand. As he scanned their surroundings, he discovered that they were at the hot springs.
"Now don?t you dare take a peak, ok?" Rin said as she put her bow and arrows down beside the bushes.
"Like I told you the first time we met, 'This Sesshoumaru has no-"
"Yes, yes, 'no malice'. I was just teasing you?" Rin said with a giggle and roll of eyes. "Now would you be kind to turn around while I take off my clothes?"
"Why did you bring me here?"
"Like I told you? Just guard me, okay? But that means no peaking either!"
Sesshoumaru nodded and did as told. He leapt towards a tree from a distance and turned around. After a minute, he heard her voice again, telling him that it was okay to turn around. He did and saw that the only thing above the water was her head. He realized that Rin's face was flushed. "Is the water too warm?"
Rin shook her head. "N-no? Its just that? I've never had someone watching me take a bath before?"
Sesshoumaru frowned. "If you wish, I would leave at once."
"No! Its all right," Rin said, dipping her head down the water. "You just stay there and do whatever you want?"
::
Sesshoumaru did not stare at her while she bathed. He did direct his attention somewhere else. Though he did not have ill will in his veins, he knew that humans preferred to be private when cleansing. He leaned back against the trunk of the tree. As he began to relax, out of nowhere, a small bird landed on his shoulder. Slowly he extended his finger to take the bird and the small winged creature hopped quickly to his hand. As he held the creature before his eyes, he smiled faintly.
"Do you know humans need to be touched in order to feel loved??"
Sesshoumaru's hand jerked in surprise, making the bird fly away almost quickly. His eyes darted left and right to check if someone else was there. Seeing and feeling no one, he shook his head and suspected that probably it was just the wind.
"Do you know humans need to be touched in order to feel loved??"
Frightened, he turned his gaze towards the lady in the water. She had her back turned to him. His hands then felt cold as he did not detect any form of being around the place. Then who was saying that to him?
"The miko loves you?" the voice spoke, only for him to hear. "And she is doubting if you really do care for her?"
"But I do care for her?!" he answered back, curling his fists angrily on his sides. "Where are you?!" It was Naraku, Sesshoumaru knew it. But where?
"Touch her?"
"Rin? I will be back shortly." Sesshoumaru stood up from the tree, tried to fly to somewhere. He landed on a dimly open space in the forest and glared at his surroundings. If ever he would see Naraku, he would not spare the demon! "Where are you, Naraku!"
"Just touch the miko once? There is no harm in that?"
Sesshoumaru almost growled with anger.
"Take your chance now?" it continued. "Skin to skin?"
"Rin is a friend! Why do you keep implying that I love her more than that!"
The demon seemed to appeared to him, hiding behind a large bush. A pair of foggy eyes looked up at him. "I never told you that you loved her more than a friend?" The sharp eyes widened in fake surprise. "Oh I see! you've finally opened your eyes?"
Sesshoumaru could have struck his sword at the bushes to kill the demon, but he stood still on the ground. Was he waiting for more lies to be thrown at him? But he knew the demon was not lying? He did care for Rin.
"Just put your hands on her shoulders?" the demon said. "After that, you could leave at once. Just that kind of contact is enough?"
Gathering his wavering strength, he grasped his sword and run to where the bushes were coming from and thrust his sword against the shrubbery. He waited for a holler of pain or a stench of demon blood but as he drew his sword to the side to check if he had hit the fiend, the ground was quite empty. "Argh!" he grunted, placing back his sword inside its sheath. Disappointed, he leapt back to the river and saw that Rin had already put on her clothes and was placing her bow and arrows on her shoulder.
All thoughts of Naraku, responsibility, obligation disappeared into nothing.
Her face, he noticed, was flushed and looked distressed. He wanted to ask her why, but his tongue was nowhere to be found. As he stared at her at that moment, he felt the most foreign admiration for the human. He saw how almost perfect she was and had she not been clothed in human garments, she could have passed to be one of his kind. It was just that? "You lack wings?"
"What?" Rin asked, lifting her face to meet him.
"This Sesshoumaru said," the angel spoke, taking a step closer to her. "You lack wings?" Then he followed advice, placing his hands on her shoulders. As he held her, he noticed how small she was under the kimono. He held her yes, but he did not intend to look at her eyes almost too closely, too much as if he were reading her soul.
"Tenshi," she breathed.
His hands hardened its hold on her and he planned to leave. But the unexpected happened. The miko flung her arms around his shoulders and placed her lips against his own. He was stunned on the ground where he stood as she kissed him, but when the emotions she was feeling passed from her lips to him, he closed his eyes and his hands came to hold her closer against his chest.
The warmth he felt doubled over as he kissed her tenderly, moving his lips according to blind instinct. This was how the humans shared affection? Then? it was beautiful. It was splendid! It was sweet and thrilling all at the same time! He'd never felt such wonder, not until he had been graced by the Maker Himself as an angel. He then remembered who and what he was and he gently pushed her away. He immediately saw the hurt on those beautiful features. "This is the last time," he said, the thoughts of his words piercing painfully through his chest. "That something like this would happen. It cannot be."
Though he knew that the miko thought otherwise, she nodded and bit her lip. "I am sorry?" she said. "Will you get in trouble for that?"
"This Sesshoumaru is uncertain?"
"Then are you uncertain of how you feel about me too?"
Sesshoumaru looked away. "This Sesshoumaru has told you, It cannot be."
The miko started sobbing. "You say that but? I care for you? Do you hear me? I know Kami-sama would probably punish me for this but? I love you." She wiped the tears with the back of her hand. "I wanted you to know that? and I'm sorry to have put you through this if it makes you feel terrible afterwards? I'm sorry?"
"You? love? me?"
"Yes, I love you!" she exclaimed, jumping on him, embracing him. "Is it wrong, tenshi? Is it?"
Sesshoumaru kept his mouth shut but his hands went firmly about her.
"I was always taught that love should conquer all, that it is the light to this dark world," she sobbed in his ear. "But how come that I cannot give you my love, tenshi? How come? I do not understand?"
Sesshoumaru slowly disentangled her from him but she pushed closer against his warmth. "Rin? let go?"
"You say this is the last time," the miko said. "Then please? show me you love me? Pretend you love me!"
"This Sesshoumaru?" he said, firming her with his hands. He cupped her face with his hands and gazed into her eyes. "Does not lie." He bent his head and kissed her lips. "Because this Sesshoumaru knows that he loves the miko he holds right now?"
"Want me, tenshi," she whispered, kissing his lips again. "Want me. Need me?Love me?"
It was probably the tone of her voice, the hot want in it that got through him. Angels did not really have a certain gender but they always did what they were told. Her voice directed his power to create what humans needed and had, and after another heated kiss from her, he felt a new throbbing somewhere below his waist. It was intense -had she given him this poison fruit he was feeling? He closed his eyes and shuddered as he embraced her, what could he do with the new sensation? Should he succumb to the deed? But ever should he turn away, why then was it there, when it shouldn?t have been?
The hardness probably was too obvious because once it made contact with her, though clothed, she gasped and melted in his embrace. The fact that she knew about the human reaction he was having clouded his brain from sense. Why was it that he couldn?t find it in him to let go? All he could feel was her and how he wanted to take off her clothes and find more comfort with her warmth? He wanted to be with her because he knew she could give him that mirth. It was blood and fire at the same time, coursing through his veins.
Was this sin?
But it was steadfastly kind and sincere. Why was it building with too much power inside him -wasn?t he heaven sent? Wasn?t he supposed to be sex-less? Why then? Why? Was this a hidden mission he was supposed to accomplish -to mingle with the miko in a sexual way?
He was now acting like a human. His hands and mouth lowered her to the ground, his fingers acting out on its own as it undid the strings that tied her garments in place, keeping her from him. "Is this what you want??" he asked, drinking the emotion that displayed beautifully on her face.
"Yes? tenshi? yes?" she moaned, arching her body to his.
Hearing those words, the angel nodded and kissed the skin of her throbbing heart. "This Sesshoumaru?will obey?"
And what the angel did not notice was the pain of the blissful sting on his neck, not of a serpent, but of a winged insect the had left his robes once he exposed himself to the world.

A.N. Sorry if short. Sorry if it gets too confusing. Please review and let me know what you think. After the possible Part 3 of Shesshoumaru's tale, the story would hopefully return to its original context, thank you very much. ^_^
