Heero glanced at Relena sideways as they stood in front of Preventer Headquarters, waiting for the limousine. As usual, the young politician had remained in her office, working away on mountains of documents. She would have continued all night hadn't Heero appeared on her doorway and sternly demanded that they leave that instant. He even packed her paperwork in her briefcase and held her arm tightly as they went down. Then he phoned Pargan to come over with the car.
"Heero, I am just doing my job. I have to study these documents as soon as possible." Relena explained exasperatedly as she glanced up at him.
"Working yourself to death is not included in the job description." He said in his usual monotone as he half-led, half-dragged her down the building.
Relena saw her breath misting in the cold night air. It was near winter, hence the definite drop in temperature, although there was still no snow. She tucked her hair behind her ear, then rubbed her arms briskly, trying not to complain.
Heero noticed her uneasiness, and realized that she was most likely affected by the change of season. She was only wearing a business suit, but the blazer of course was a poor shield from the cold.
"You're shivering." He said suddenly, and to her surprise, he took off his Preventer jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"Wait, I can't possibly take this. You might need it." She protested.
"Unlikely." He answered, and averted his gaze. But the warm feeling inside refused to go away. Typical Relena behavior, always worrying about others instead of herself.
"Um... Heero?" She muttered quietly.
He looked down at her, and noticed it.
His hands were still settled on her shoulders.
He withdrew them with an indistinguishable "Hn", and focused on the agency's driveway.
Relena noticed the pink tinge on Heero's cheeks. She raised an eyebrow. Heero Yuy, Perfect Soldier, blushing? She dismissed the thought. It was almost as possible as Wufei declaring that women were not weak.
Finally, their ride arrived. Heero opened the car door for her, then slid noiselessly inside after her. Meanwhile, Pargan refrained from asking questions, stopped by the tired look on his young mistress's face.
The ride was uneventful, so to speak. All the car's occupants were quiet until they reached the Darlian Mansion.

When they entered the living room, they saw Duo munching on a burger with Hilde glaring at him, and Trowa reading a magazine with Catherine. Quatre was away on a business trip, and both Wufei and Sally had opted to stay in Preventer HQ. Everyone looked up to greet them, and Duo noticed Relena's jacket. The American pilot grinned slyly at Heero.
Heero did not miss the implication. He sent him his famous deathglare, and after Relena greeted the others, he walked her to her room.
Upon arriving to their destination, she turned to him and smiled. "Thanks, Heero. I might've pulled an all-nighter if you didn't stop me." She said softly.
Heero graced her with one of his rare half-smiles. "Don't push yourself too hard." He told her, and turned to enter his room, which was adjacent to hers.
Relena entered hers with a fond smile. She dropped her briefcase on her overlarge four-poster bed, and was about to shrug off her blazer when she remembered Heero's jacket. "Oh no, I forgot to return it!" She exclaimed.
She shrugged it off, and was startled when something black fell to the floor. Some of its contents spilled out.
She opened the lights to see it better, and was frankly horrified to find out that it was Heero's wallet. "Oh God, he might think I'm going through his stuff!" She bent down to fix them when some of the pieces caught her eye. She picked them up, and blinked.
Photographs.
Of her.
She was shocked.
Pilfered from her family albums, taken during one of their group reunions, and one appeared to be a stolen shot during one of her conferences.
She stared at the photos in her hands. All the while, she thought she was nothing more than a mission, but with these pictures... a 1000-megawatt smile bloomed on her face. She bit her lip, thinking. Then she picked up Heero's wallet, stood up, and went to her desk.

Heero was typing in his laptop when he heard a soft knock. He sighed inaudibly and stood up.
It was Relena. "Hi. May I come in?" She asked with a smile as he opened the door. He stepped aside wordlessly, and she went inside.
"I'm sorry I forgot to return your jacket immediately. Your wallet fell from it, anyway." She handed him the items, and noticed the slight widening of his eyes. She secretly smiled.
"So... thanks and goodnight." She said softly, and with a flip of her honeyblonde hair, she exited the room, leaving a faint whiff of lavender in the air.
As soon as the door closed, he stared at the things in his hands. He saw a piece of paper sticking out of his wallet. Eyes narrowed, he carelessly dropped his jacket and took out the paper.
Next time, if you want a picture, ask for it.
Heero's mouth dropped open literally. 'She saw them'. He thought, and stared at the note. After several minutes, a slow smile lifted the corners of his lips.
"Ask for it? Mission accepted."
He tossed the wallet over his shoulders, tucked the note carefully into his pants' pocket, went out and shut the door.
