right people
This is NOT the last chapter
The reason I got it out so quick is because i'd already written some of it yesterday.
Some aspects of it might be confusing, but please bear with me!
Right, ummmm i think only 1 or 2 chapters to go.....
Anyway, enjoy!

P.S. it looks longer than it is cause of all the double spacing and stuff! Don't be put off again lol

Nobody moved.
Relena had closed her eyes again, praying that when she opened them, she would be back in her apartment, in her bed, waking up from some kind of terrible dream. She didn?t want to open them though. She didn?t want to see the savage expression of rage on Caan?s face, nor the shock and disappointment on Heero?s. No matter how hard she focused her mind on waking up somewhere else, the shallow breathing coming from across the room, and now from in front of her caused her hopes to disintegrate.
?It is a shame?? Caan finally spoke, his head turning back towards Relena, ??a terrible shame, that I will have to kill you now?? He paused. Relena?s eyes had opened. ??you disappoint me, Relena. I had hoped you were more intelligent than this??
The blade was at her throat once more. Caan?s free hand held a tuft of her hair again, just like before.
?But?a promise is a promise?? He licked his lips. ??any final words, miss Peacecraft??
?You need me.?
?Excuse me?? Caan?s features creased into a confused frown.
?I said that you need me.? Relena stated plainly for the second time. ?It?s the truth, isn?t it?? Her voice was as steady as she could make it. Please God?she prayed?let this work?please?
?How dare y-?
?How else are you going to get what you need from Heero?? She was regaining her confidence with ease, her mind racing with every word. ?I can help you?and you know it.?
Caan eyed her suspiciously. She was right. He had never intended to kill her, though his rage had somehow overcome his senses. He had forgotten how much the man across the room cared for this girl. How he would do anything to save her. He had observed them together many times. It was obvious that Heero Yuy had developed feelings for this worthless woman. Neither one of them knew of course.
Love, as people called it, was pain; and Caan intended to prove this. He had the perfect plan.
?Oh dear?? Caan began, keeping the knife at Relena?s neck but stepping to her right side so he could look at Heero. ?It appears that your girlfriend is a bit of a turncoat?shame?? He gave Heero a lopsided grin.
Relena had forced herself not to look at Heero after she had spoken. She couldn?t bear to think what he must think of her right now.
?And I thought that you were the one who didn?t care for her?after all, when I threatened you with her life before she awoke you seemed quite content to sentence her to death?isn?t that right, Mr Yuy??
Caan?s smile widened.
Her head slowly rose to look at Heero. He?he was going to let her just?die? All this time she had been thinking about saving him when he was just going to let her die?! How could he do that to her? He was meant to protect her?not to watch while someone murdered her?How could he?!
Heero lifted his head, his eyes opening slowly. When he met her gaze, shame flickered between them. Each had been betrayed, and both had betrayed the other.
So why would she still do anything to save him? Why did she suddenly find herself willing to give her life for him?
Because she loved Heero.
She smiled unintentionally at him. She didn?t know how he read it, but he opened his mouth to speak?
?Relena, I-?
?Don?t try to deny it Mr. Yuy?" Caan cut in, coolly, "I told you that if you didn?t tell me the code, I would have to kill her?and you just said that you wouldn?t tell me, no matter who I killed?do you remember now?? He raised an eyebrow. ?I suppose you were trying to make me kill you but where?s the fun in that, eh??
?You?re sick?? Heero muttered, his intense glare having returned.
?Sick, perhaps?but at least I do not tell lies, Mr. Yuy.? Caan?s voice had become sharp, cutting through the thick air between them.
Without warning, he tightened his grip on Relena?s hair and pressed the knife harder to the side of her throat. She let out a cry of pain as he did so. Her right arm went quickly behind her back. Heero realised she must be weaker than he thought; she obviously needed one arm on the wall to support herself.
?Give me one reason why I shouldn?t kill her right now?? He shouted over to Heero, who was momentarily paralysed by the question, and what it would mean if he answered wrongly.
He thought as quickly as he could, but the silence that followed seemed endless.
?B?Because the world needs her?? Heero stated, trying to put as much energy into saying the words as he possibly could. He stared at the floor.
Caan pursed his lips and began to shake his head disapprovingly. Relena let out another cry as the knife bit into her neck even more.
?No Mr. Yuy?I mean the real reason??
?
Heero spoke without looking up, ?I told you, the w-?
?Say it or she dies right now??
?
His head stayed down.
?Because?
?because I need her?? He whispered.
Relena?s breath caught in her throat.
Caan?s smile reappeared.
?I?m afraid that?s not good enough??
Heero?s eyes widened.
??she dies.? Caan said plainly, turning to Relena.
?WAIT! STOP!? Heero screamed, his eyes now level with Caan?s, the chains that bound him rattling with his effort to break free from them.
Caan turned back to him.
?Then say it?? He said darkly.
Heero inhaled sharply as he saw the knife ready to move across her throat.
?Because I love her?
Heero?s cry echoed around the tiny room. Relena could have sworn her heart had stopped beating. He?he loved her? Jesus Christ what a day?
Their eyes were locked onto one another?s. Relena couldn?t process what he had just said. She had dreamed of him saying it to her over and over?but her dreams had been nothing like this.
Her eyes were wide, her mouth open, on the verge of saying something?but then she heard it.
She heard him laugh.
?Aw?how touching!?Now that wasn?t too hard was it, Mr. Yuy?? The disdain in his voice made Relena shiver, the sudden movement of her body making her realise something else.
He hadn?t removed the knife.
?But unfortunately for you?? His blade began to trace little patterns on the delicate skin of her neck. ?I don?t give a shit whether you love each other or not?? He turned towards Relena and smiled patronisingly, ??what a helpful weakness you?re turning out to be, Miss Peacecraft. You have my thanks for providing such excellent service??
?What are you-? she started.
?I am going to ask you one last time Mr. Yuy, and remember?? He gestured towards Relena?s throat with his free hand, ?this time, it is not just a threat?? the hand grabbed a bunch of her hair again?
?It is a promise??
?he continued.
?Tell me the code. If you don?t, she will die.?
And it was then that Heero did something Caan did not expect.
He smiled.
He smiled? How dare he? How dare he smile? How dare he mock him...
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMILING FOR?! JUST SA-" Caan screamed. Before he even felt it rise, he was overwhelmed with white hot rage blinding his vision, burning within him, so fierce it brought him pain. Unimaginable pain. It was more than anything he?d ever known?this burning he felt?in his heart?this piercing pain?a crippling ache he had never experienced. He couldn?t draw in breath. He couldn?t swallow the blood that he tasted so sharply in his throat.
Gradual realisation washed over him.
Looking down he saw the handle of a knife protruding from his chest. His knife. The knife he had put away?
He turned his head to Relena. She was crying, leaning away from him, trying to get out of his reach. He grabbed the air for her, but his hands found nothing. The other knife had dropped out of his right hand long ago, the fingers that were in her hair now clutching the knife in his heart.
Relena watched as he fell to the ground. She had taken it. She had taken the other knife out of his pocket and she had?she had stabbed him?
She had reached into his pocket and taken it, hiding it behind her back after buying more time for herself, when she had told Caan that he ?needed? her. When she had 'betrayed' Heero?
She quickly grabbed the other knife which lay on the floor next to her and cut the bonds on her feet with shaky hands.
Caan writhed on the dirty concrete. He had pulled the knife out. Dark blood formed a large puddle on the floor, reflecting Relena?s pale face as she leant over to pick up her filthy, ripped shirt from near him.
He was choking, it seemed on his own blood?
?no?not choking?
Laughing?
Hysterical, frightening, high-pitched laughter filled the room?
Relena had never before been so glad that someone was going to die.
She wrapped the shirt around herself and crouched over his struggling form.
?Goodbye, Caan. The code is 6388724.?
With the knife she held in her hand, she pierced his chest again, twisting, gouging with the dirty blade. She felt so much hatred for this man, she wanted his death to be more painful than anything he had ever imagined?
Yet he kept laughing?blood spluttered endlessly from his mouth?
?but he laughed?
Then he stopped...
He stopped....
.....
It was over.
It was really over.
She fell back, shaking violently. Her vision was blurred, her head was spinning?but it was over.
She heard a noise from outside the room. There was shouting?voices?voices she recognised?
?Miss Relena?! Miss Peacecraft?!!?
Her eyes closed?
The world went black?
She smiled as she drifted into the deepest sleep she had ever known?
It was over.
