Chapter 4: Charge and Challenge
Kanil sat at the back of the room watching the teacher teach about Chemistry with only half interest. His blonde hair hung in his eyes and down to his shoulder. Despite his blocked view, his brown eyes could see everyone in the room clearly and judged them as if they could turn into a potential threat.
He watched slowly as Andrew lowered his head to his desk to sleep. God, why does the kid need more sleep? He?s already slept through most of the day. Kanil checked that his sword down his pant leg was ready to be used in an instant. Hell always did sneak up on me, now didn?t it? [i/]
He looked again at Andrew and then glanced over at Andrew?s friends. I?ve been watching this kid for over a century. Always in the same pattern, lives till he?s sixteen and then somehow gets his memory erased and turned back into a second grader. Onishi you bastard. You probably knew this kid would be in this loop until you came back and you wanted him protected. Asshole. Something?s different this time though, Andrew (I probably should get used to saying his name.) actually has friends this time and they all seem to have some sort of power in them. Interesting. [i/]He watched as one of the twins (Geled he thought) was making a card tower.
Kanil remembered when his only worry in life was to have fun and learn what he would need in the future. That changed fast after I learned that I was a half-angel with the ability to kill without hesitation. Hahahaha, life was good back when Onishi was training me.
There was a knock at the door to the room and a girl walked in. She was level height with the teacher. She pulled some of her dyed neon green hair out of her purple eyes, as they flicked to Silva as she walked in as if in greeting. Kalina Hulajrak, Silva?s best friend. That girl would be one of the few that has a dark secret in this school. Jakiem may be right that she is in the Onishi Army as a general, but she is really bad at hiding her weapons. A shotgun down her left pant leg, two ZMG?s in her back pockets, and a 45-caliber glock 18 machine pistol under her armpit. If she gets anymore careless I might just have to kill?er[i/]
Kanil soon was uninterested because he felt a presence in the room that he hadn?t felt before. Kalina must have felt it, too, for she looked around in the middle of writing something on the pass and looked directly at Andrew. The presence wasn?t hostile but it was certainly not there to help either. Kanil decided to ignore it for the moment as to not cause a commotion. Kalina must have decided the same for she soon walked back out the room with a good by? to Silva.
The presence reminded Kanil of something from the glory days with Onishi and also of a warning in Onishi?s orders to protect Andrew before Onishi left. Remember always, invisible people aren?t actually invisible. you just don?t have the eyes to see them. Just try to sense what your enemy is before you do anything rash.
I do not expect you to carry out these orders because I ask you to. I ask you carry out these orders because you are the only one I trust and you are the only one to know the truth among my generals. Fenrir, the Beast of the Earth, will help you when the time comes and may my presence always be with you.
BASTARD, you challenged me to take your order?s why should I even be here. Wait, what is that smell. It?s like dirt and sulphur at the same time. Could my ?help? finally have come?[i/]
He didn?t have time to answer the question though because right at that moment, Andrew woke up and started screaming.
