Fright mixed with awe escalated inside her as Hojo, the angel, stood before her once again. Her chest filled with familiar warmth and comfort and if she lost control, she would burst into tears. She once was like him.
"Kagome, would you forgive me for what happened?" he asked solemnly. He kept his head in a low bow, hiding his glowing face from her sight.
Forgive him? What was not to forgive? Her voice, she later figured out, got lost after last night. She did not go to school today knowing it would be useless to pretend that she had a sore throat. Inuyasha and she were clearly not in speaking terms. It was possible he didn?t know that she really did lose her voice, but he really did choose to be silent. He was angry at her for something unexplainable.
And now as Hojo stood before her, she was thankful that last night really did happen. To have someone heavenly come to her was like spring after winter. Hojo came like an answered prayer, happiness during her time of terrible sorrow. His light was literally saving. As she parted her lips to just mouth his name, the angel read his mind and put a finger on her lips.
"Shh, Kagome," he whispered. "Humans aren't allowed to speak or even breathe angel's names." He touched her cheek and shook his head. "Do not fear, my angel, this loss is impermanent."
Kagome nodded, knowing it was all she could really do. As he held her cheek, she put her hand on his, getting used to the foreign feel of his skin against hers. Hojo really was Comfort. If only she could remember?
"You were under my fleet, Kagome," Hojo spoke, as if reading her mind, letting her touch him. "I was your Commander. I was in charge of you and several other angels. But when your guarded -Sango, was to transfer here in Goshinbu, you were given a new task."
Few memories came back and Kagome closed her eyes.
"So it is disheartening, like they say, to know someone has forgotten about you," he said, his eyes somber. "But I know that He has plans, that's why things like this happen."
Another nod was what Kagome did. She dearly wished he would let her hold him for a long time.
"In fact, do you know that a lot of your friends miss you?"
Kagome felt weak. She had friends? Other than Sango, Miroku and Inuyasha? Hope and happiness lit up her eyes.
"Oh, Kagome? He has granted you with such beauty," he said quite breathlessly, as if unable to keep it to himself. "But He has not spared your from feeling one of the greatest dread of all humans."
Kagome opened her eyes and stared at him, the withheld tears cascading down her face.
"I will try to come for you for real, Kagome," he whispered, pulling her close in his arms. He put his hand on the back of her hair, pushing her closer to him. "Let me rid you of the loneliness you feel. Let me?"
Kagome just nodded, unsure of what she was agreeing to. All that mattered was his closeness, he was Comfort. How come she never felt such relief before? She felt herself being put to bed, little words of endearments and encouragement being whispered on her ear. Those simple words echoed all around her like the light that vibrated from the angel. How come, those words, meant so much at times of distress? Because she needed it, needed to feel that she wasn?t alone.
The angel left the other when he knew she was asleep and as he gazed at her one last time, he knew what he needed to accomplish.

"You know, Inuyasha," she said, opening the top buttons of her blouse. "I never really get it. You come here most of the time and do nothing. You just sit there like a gargoyle."
"Then stop interrupting my silence, bitch," he said. Inuyasha glared at Kikyou and looked away. Kikyou was right. He had been spending his nights at the night club. He wasn't drinking or doing drugs, he wasn?t even flirting with women? It was just that the club provided him with good old 'sinful nature.' After what happened seven nights ago, Inuyasha had to distance himself from Kagome. He was completely aware that an Angel visited her and what was worse -touched her. Ever since then she hasn't spoken to him and she has been infected by such a cleansing scent that could exterminate him if ever he came closer. That's why he couldn?t come close to her bed a week ago. She was in complete Angel mode it scared him.
"Look," Kikyou started again, putting an arm her, purposely pushing the swell of her breast against his arm. "I won't bug you with my flirting anymore."
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. He stared at the breast beside his arm and raised a brow. "Right."
"I mean, really," she said. Reverse-psychology had to work on this guy, she thought. "So? what's she like? You never told me."
"That's because I had no intention to," Inuyasha said quickly, stuffing his hand in his pocket and pulling out a few bills. He left it on the table and stood up. "See you."
"See you?" she trailed off, noting that she wasn't disappointed of his leaving. Simply because she knew he'd be back.

Kagome locked herself quickly in the bathroom when she sensed him coming close to the door. She washed her face with water, trying to make her eyes less blotchy from all the sleep and unwanted tears. Hojo left quite early and she couldn?t help but feel disappointed. She did not know what came over her but when she woke up without Hojo in sight, tears sprang her eyes and she found herself bawling.
Hojo, she thought to herself, feeling the prick of ache in the chest. Why does it hurt, she asked herself as she placed a clenched fist against her heart. She heard the front door close outside and she could feel him walking across the room. Her other hand went to touch the door that kept him from her.
I want to see Hojo, she thought, new tears forming her eyes.

Inuyasha noticed the unnerving silence between them. Was she mad at him? He wasn?t sure. There was a big percentage that she was, but every time he stared at her; her face didn?t seem mad at all. Her face, he noticed, was subtle. A frown formed his brows. He wanted to ask her why but he didn?t know how.
Dinner was silent as well. Seeing that she made no motion to talk to him or ask him anything at all, Inuyasha decided to watch TV instead. Insensitive woman.
He watched her secretly from the corner of his eye, unable to keep focus on the TV program. She was doing her usual chores. But when he noticed that she started to get ready to sleep, that's what made him cross the line. Silently he crept behind her and crossed his arms. "What the hell is wrong with you, Kagome?"
Kagome turned to him. Shock was in her eyes but it didn?t take long for her to smile. Instantly she wrapped her arms around his neck and nuzzled close against his chest. Before he could talk, she drew back a little and touched her throat and shook her head.
"You couldn?t speak?"
Kagome nodded, tears brimming on her eyes.
Inuyasha felt his walls crumble down to the floor. He pulled her close with his arm and kept his fingers tangled in her hair. Sorry, he wanted to say. He was too angry with himself for not noticing. He lay her down the bed and kept his arms around her. He let his white ears show and he let her rub the sensitive area behind his ears. "You should do that often," he groaned mindlessly, closing eyes. Realizing what he just said, he felt himself go cold and blush on the face. "S-sorry."
Kagome frowned at him as she observed his wide ears flatten above his head.
"I'm sorry," he repeated, burying himself against her warmth as he said it. "For not caring enough."
Kagome gently held the tip of his white ears and pulled it slowly, making him look up at her. She took hold of the sides of his face and smiled. She put a finger on his lips and roughed up his white bangs.
Inuyasha growled.
That made her laugh without sound.
With that, Inuyasha smiled.

The next morning was less painful for her throat and when Kagome tried to make a sound, thankfully, a moan fought its way out of her mouth. Knowing she could speak at least yes and no, she knew she was to go to school. After taking a bath, dressing up, she gave Inuyasha's exposed ankle a waking pat. His foot hid under the blanket and he groaned.
"Kagome? ten more minutes."
Kagome tapped him again, insisting this time.
"Ka?gome? please?"
"I-Inu?ya-h?shaahh?!" she scolded though it sounded more like a croak, regretting to waste her small chords for his name. As she blinked, she noticed that he was on his knees, kneeling in front of her like an eager poppy, frowning at her with his expressive amber eyes.
"You called?"
Kagome raised a brow.
"Say my name again," he said, grabbing her wrist before she turned away. He did want to hear it again. Though it was spoken rather roughly, he wanted her to say his name. He pulled on her wrist. "Come on?!"
Kagome stomped her feet as she tried to wriggle her wrist out of his grasp. Then she noticed that Inuyasha had a glassy look on his face, his eyes focused somewhere below her chin. Then, she followed his gaze, and she discovered that every time she yanked her arm, her breasts jiggled obviously. Her eyes widened as she stared back at him with a glare.
Inuyasha gave her a naughty grin. "Say it again," he whispered, tightening his grasp on her wrist.
"I..." she began, the tone undefined.
"Yes?" he said, his voice encouraging now. "Nu??"
"N-nu?"
"OK!" he exclaimed happily like a child. "Say 'ya'."
"Y-ah?"
"Good! Now, sha!"
"Ush?"
"Sha," he said, giving his tone more firmness.
"U-ush?!" Kagome blurt out with exaggeration.
"Inuya-ush? Shit, you gotta do better than that!" he said, trying to suppress a chuckle. "You're like a baby."
"Ush?" she said again, sobs catching her throat. She plastered her lips with her other hand this time. Angry tears welled on her eyes.
Seeing those little beads of tears made Inuyasha weak-knee. He pulled her close and started to smooth her hair. "Don?t force yourself."
"Ush?"
