"Will you please be my girlfriend?" he asked, he bent down in one knee and looked up into her eyes. "I promise you that I won't break your heart."
Thankfully, there were only a few people in the campus park. For a while she was thankful that Kagome and Inuyasha left to get some drinks so that they couldn?t see what Miroku had the habit of asking her everyday. Sango sighed and shook her head. "Miroku? please get up." She offered a hand to help him get up on his feet but instead he kissed it. Blushing furiously, she yanked her hand back from him and frowned. "Look. I really appreciate you doing all these things for me. Especially when you tried to look interested when my mom kept blabbing about senseless things-"
"I wasn't pretending, Sango-chan," he whispered, getting on his feet. He sat across her on the park bench. "Your mom is a fabulous woman. You know, my inner voice was threatening to get envious of you. I mean, you have a really wonderful woman as a mother."
The anger drifted slowly as Sango recalled how Miroku told her about his mom. His mother wasn?t home much when he was still a kid. Later did he find out that she was having an affair with a younger man, just like his father who always had a young woman in his arm. The marriage was a failure, they just kept together for the image. How could she blame Miroku for trying to find comfort in women? He was still a boy in a man's body, struggling to find someone to love? But as much as Sango wanted to love Miroku the way he wanted her to, something was stopping her. Whatever it was, Sango took it as a warning sign.
"But then, I knew that my inner voice was wrong. You see, my inner voice was always wrong. Every time I listen to it, I mess up. That's when I decided to feel happy about meeting your mother," he continued, his eyes on the sky. "Then I began to feel really happy knowing that in the future, I could also call her 'mother' when we get married-"
Sometimes, Sango really had to smack the poor kid on the head. His imagination got the best out of him. Though she brought him back to the real world with a hit, the want to continuously argue with him disappeared. When he didn?t get carried away like he did, thinking that they would be married in the future and all that 'I'm forever yours' crap, she knew she really did want to listen to him. She wanted to be there for him when he needed someone to talk to. In the exterior, Miroku Satoshi was an all-around kinda guy but deep down, Sango knew, he was hurting and lonely. She was glad that he was trying to change who he was for the better.
"Okay, okay! I was just trying to foresee the future, Sango," he said, his palm rubbing on the bump on his head. "But you know what? I'm not completely running out of options just in case you don?t really feel anything for me." He sighed and stared at her. "If ever you won't agree to be completely mine, I'd probably?"
The sudden change of expression in his face pricked her curiosity. "Probably what?"
"Oh never mind!" Miroku exclaimed with a laugh. He quickly gave her hand a squeeze and he laughed again. "Intriguing, huh?"
"No. I just don?t like being left hanging stupid."
Miroku chuckled and smiled. "Of course I'll tell you, my Sango. I'd always tell you everything."
Sango turned to look away from his enchanting eyes, getting rid of his melting stare of a binding spell.
"I plan to be a monk."
Oh a monk, she thought. A monk? "A MONK!?" she yelped, her eyes widening with surprise. She swore she could have made a better scene than Miroku having propose to her. "You can't be a monk!"
"Yes I can!" Miroku said cheerfully. "Before, I thought so, too. I mean, I'm too sinful, right? But then I thought, that's exactly the point! I need to atone for my years of sin? In the mountains I shall meditate, be one with nature and God, refresh my spirituality and hopefully, come back to tell the people of the new being that I have become?"
If he got any more serious, Sango could have laughed? or cried. She took a deep breath, trying to steady the loud beating of her heart. Not that she wasn?t too interested with his plans in the future but? He did say something about his childhood dream of becoming a monk in a faraway monastery. She stared at him and saw the silly smile on his face, assuring her of his serious statement. "You're serious?"
He nodded.
Sango did require his transparency but now she wasn?t too sure she wanted to hear more of his future plans. How could he decide such a thing? But his plans were possible? He could do anything? What did she care anyway? "So you plan to shave your head and eat veggies till you grow old?"
"I have to shave my head?!"
Sango rolled her eyes and giggled. Finally, some sense. "Yes you do, Miroku."
Miroku smiled at her and wiped two teardrops from her cheeks. "Oh, Sango? my plans of becoming a monk depends entirely on you. So please, don?t cry?"
Sango bit her lower lip. She lifted the back of her hand and brought it against her cheek. She was crying! And she wasn?t even aware of it? Was it possible that she was crying for the fear of losing someone like him? She forced a laugh. "I? I just found that so freakishly funny!"
Miroku just stared at her and held her hands. "After I graduate, that's when I will really carry out my plans. So till then, I will be waiting for your answer."
Staring at him, she was stunned. He was serious. Dead serious. How could he do this to her? How could he say all these things to her? It felt worse! Worse than hearing him talk about all those women he had been with? She felt terrible. She bit her lower lip and glared at him. She stood up and put her clenched fists on her waist. "You don?t need to wait for my answer, Satoshi! You can go ahead and be a holy monk for all I care! You could go NOW! I hate you, you insensitive jerk!"

Inuyasha was out. Again.
For some unknown reason, he was always outside during weekends. Kagome never really got it. Why did he always choose to be alone? Was she really that despicable as a date? Because of his habit of leaving her alone to rot in the apartment, she managed to cook up a whole lot of recipes. Their refrigerator was never empty and the hanyou was always satisfied. If only Inuyasha could see that he wasn?t as unfortunate as he thought he was. There were times when Kagome wanted to shake him, ask him to point to other earth-bound beings and ask him if they get to sleep in a nice bed, eat good food, and have a place to stay in (and a pretty roommate to embrace every night)? If only she could tell him that he was the luckiest hanyou alive.
Kagome brushed her hair slowly, taking all the time she needed. Her eyes were focused on the wrinkled bed sheets, messy blankets and half-naked pillows. Its as if two people just made love on the bed. Aside from the fact that they were indeed just sleeping beside each other, there had been no love between them at all. Time spent together was simple. The softness and sweetness disappeared in a silent, gentle manner and if it weren't for the erosion of the hanyou's swearing, Kagome might have never figured out that something changed.
Not only did he leave her alone all the time every weekends, he also was out every night during weekdays. And every time he came home, he went straight for a bath that she wouldn?t have clue where he'd been. No beer-breath, no nicotine heat, no lipstick-smudges, no perfume - no nothing. Ever since she told him she trusted him, he took advantage of it and left her alone every time darkness started to come.
If only she could tell him that she was feeling alone. How frightened she was, how lonely she was feeling. Why did she even say she trusted him? Ever since it got clear that trust was between them, she lost her chances for questions. Everyday he left her and she was beginning to feel naked and vulnerable. It wouldn?t be long till she gave up?
The window was open as she leaned on the pane, the wind blowing her damp hair. Kagome shivered as a soft breeze caressed her from behind, heightening the cold and goosebumps.
Kagome?
Her heart gave a loud beat. Her head turned around quickly to see who called her, but as she gazed into the dark sky, all she saw was the full moon from above. The clouds around it were thick and foggy; it was a cold night. As she kept her gaze on the glowing orb, she couldn?t help but make a pattern out of the heavenly body. It was as if there was a figure right in the middle of it, occupying the whole roundness of it.
Kagome blinked twice and frowned. Something really did seem to be blocking the moon. Something white? something. Someone, rather? Kagome stood up from the pane where she leaned and closed the window. She decided she will only scare herself with what she was doing. This must be what loneliness does to people.
Turning her back from the closed windows, she went to the bed and started to fix the messy sheets. As she picked up a pillow, a faint thump on the glass echoed from behind. Kagome chose to ignore it, thinking it was just her imagination. But when the thump resounded, she quickly dropped the pillows and she angrily opened the window with force.
"Oooooww!"
As Kagome flung the windows open, she was sure she heard something. But there was nothing in front of her. Must be some stupid demons outside, she thought. But as she was to close the window, the voice called from below,
"Kagome! Look at me? I'm right here!"
Kagome's eyes widened as she looked down. Slim fingers were clasped at the edge and as Kagome examined the figure, it was glowing, and dangling? There was an angel hanging from the window!
She offered her hands quickly, pulling the angel up inside the apartment. The angel limped inside the room, filling the small place with a faint glow. He took hold of his wing. "What was that about? Were you angry at me or something? You hit me with your window, Kagome!"
Kagome, on the other hand, was stunned. She stood numb beside the bed, a frown on her face. Just a week ago, there was a fallen angel here. Now, a real angel. "You know me?"
The great angel looked at her, concern written all over his face. "So it is true, huh? Memories do fade as mortality engulfs."
Kagome shook her head. "W-what??"
"This is me, Kagome," the angel whispered, edging closer. "Don?t you remember me? I'm Hojo."
"Hojo?" as she said his name, a headache hit her like a hurricane. She fell back on the bed with unknown force.
"I'm so sorry, Kagome!" Hojo exclaimed, rushing to her side. He gathered her in his arms, sprinkling her with his glow. He whispered words of comfort in her ear. "I?m sorry..."
"W-wh?"
"Spread your wings, Kagome? Use your wings."
"Hmm?" She felt drifting against a slow current, her mind gently separating from her heartbeat. Or was it the other way around? She was not so sure? Comfort was enclosing her, holding her with strong arms.
"Your wings, Kagome! Please spread your wings!" he said, his voice full of command. Seeing that she made no response, he put her down on the bed and floated above her. Spreading his own wings behind him, he let his light burst around him. "Heaven's angel, I command you to stand up and use your wings!"
After a twitch, Kagome sprang to life, her wings flapping in wild abandon as he floated opposite the other angel. Her body, however, was still weak, only her wings radiating life.
The angel shook his head with disappointment and loneliness. He touched the limp angel's face and sighed. As he gathered her back in his arms, Hojo could not help but notice the once full bright glow of Kagome's wings have turned into a faint white, only as good as a dove's. "What happened to your wings, Kagome?? What happened?"
::
The next morning, Kagome woke up with a startle, as if waking up from a terrible nightmare. But the fear decreased as she recalled a subtle presence that comforted her. The ease changed into numbness as she noticed that she was not alone in the room. Inuyasha sat across the bed, a glare on his eyes. She wanted to speak, but it seems that her throat was in a sting, her tongue trapped behind her teeth. Unable to keep up with the staring game any longer, Kagome sighed and lay back down. Her body felt tired and stiff and she could not deny the scratching pain on her vocal chords.
It didn?t take while for the hanyou, his impatience getting the best out of him. He growled one last time and left for the door.
Kagome stared at the ceiling, wondering what happened to her last night. All she recalls was falling asleep in someone else's arms? And alas? she was so sure it was not Inuyasha's.

I hope nothing is wrong with Kagome!
Inuyasha has to take better care of her, he really doesn't know how lucky he is to have her! :x
I knew Hojo had to appear in this story!
Hopefully, Inu will get to meet him and green sparks of jealousy will begin to build!
