I admit, I can be terribly ssssllllloooowww. *sigh* So forgive me if these questions are very silly.


Okies, I'm going to ask stupid questions now. I don't know if any of the things I want to know are posted somewhere else... but if they are, I haven't found it! -_-;

What is the exact policy of Blissful Ignorance on:

1) Crossdressing.

2) Mentioned/through the grapevine/far off/obscure/almost non-existent mentionings of, but never shown in the story itself yet neccesary as a plot device yaoi/yuri. (I'd like to know whether I can post a 1xR humoristic get together with 3x4 as a matchmaking device, or whether I should make some small ajustments to be able to post it here.)

3) Machinery pairings.

4) Crossovers with something other than anime, manga and games. Like movies or books. (And no, not the supposedly dreaded HP. I'm thinking along the lines of a Weiss & Hickman series.) And what about stories wherein OCs are the center characters and the GW cast supportive characters?

5) Bribery.


Oh... and what on earth is going on in that Club Beer place?

I'm going to finally break down and update / upload the Rules page THIS WEEK. I swear.

But thank you for asking BEFORE posting. I know people say it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission, but that does NOT apply to this forum. I'm kinder with permissions than my forgiveness.

In answer:

Blissful Ignorance's official policy is as follows:

1) Crossdressing. Ok as long as it's for the sake of humor and not indicative of an "alternative lifestyle" preference. In other words, Heero deciding he liked dressing as a woman but still wanted to romance Relena...really is pushing the limits of what this site will allow. However, Heero dressing like a nun to be less conspicuous while protecting Relena (and hilarity ensues) would be fine.

2) 3+4 (or 4+3) as a distant, obscure, not-explicit in ANY way is allowed as a secondary pairing in 1xR fics. We don't currently allow any other same-sex pairings; however, as long as the same-sex pairing does not feature Heero or Relena, I will consider exceptions ONLY IF the author emails me personally, privately ahead of time and explains what specifically is to be included. I will CONSIDER requests, but do not guarantee that permission will be granted. My personal judgment is the (as arrogant as it sounds) supreme law around here. Such as it is.

3) Machinery pairings. If you're pairing a male Wing Zero with a female...Aries? Oh hell. If it's to be funny and not serious, then it more than likely won't be a problem. If you're trying to insinuate that a male Wing and male Deathscythe are getting it on because Heero and Duo are really the ones in love but can't be together, I'm going to be unhappy. I'll leave it at that.

4) Crossovers. You can crossover whatever you want. As long as any obvious or explicit romantic pairings are heterosexual. If an author wants to include a secondary, mostly-vague, obscure, far off, almost non-existent male/male or female/female pairing in the body of the story, permission from the moderator of the appropriate forum will have to be gained ahead of time. My personal stance is as long as it is not explicit (and that includes boy-kissing), then I'm GENERALLY ok with it. I'm more likely to be ok with it if asked ahead of time than if I (or one of the mods) find it on the forum.

5) Bribery. Depends on who is being bribed, with what, and for what purpose. I am not wholly opposed to bribery. Again, depending...

And I don't think anyone truly knows what's going on in that Club Beer place. Some Brit gets to think he's a ladies man and role-plays ravishing women, or something like that. It can be fun. Just beware of the closets.

Thank you, Commander! Personally, I believe the saying only applies in the case of emergencies or once in a lifetime opportunities.

2) Hm... the way it looks now, they might not even have any screen time together (Quatre and Trowa, that is). But I think I'll contact you when it's done, anyway. If it's deemed too much, I'll simply have to change the 3x4 into insanely jealous Dorothy and Middie, no biggie.

3) (Male) Epyon x (Female) White Taurus representing Zechs and Noin, actually... All in good fun, of course. :razz:

4) Woohoo! Don't worry, I have no ambition to write anything other than experimental or humorous one-shots centered around yaoi or yuri (which I'll simply refrain from posting here), and background couples only when nesseccary for the plot. None at all in the particular bookseries I'm talking about.

5) Okay! I'll keep that in mind for future reference.

I'd like to set up a thread to discuss parallels between Gundam Wing and different fandoms; to discuss similarities and differences between characters, themes, inventions and such from different universes. But I don't know where I should open that thread; in the Crossovers forum, or under More Anime, Manga, and Games, or just the Off Topic forum. Could someone tell me? (It would save the trouble of having to move the thread, should I post it in the wrong category. ^_^; )

Okay, this question is certifiably silly. I think I can guess, but just to make completely sure...

This site is centered on romance, right? 1xR in particular, with the occasional other GW het couple and even more sporadically, other anime, manga and games. Does this mean that you can only post stories with a certain amount of romantic content?

You see, I have a few purely gen stories that I would love to share with the more experienced GW fanauthors here on BI, but since there's no romance in them...

I think there's no harm in posting gen stories. This is still a fanfiction forum, after all.

But Rose has the final say on this.

(btw, about Club Beer, we're harmless over there, really. Quite docile, now. Beer is off working in that secret lab out there.)

General non-romance goes in the Believe Your Love forum (for GW), which included "traditional" het pairings as well as no-pairing fics.

Non-romance in other categories just goes in the other category. Non-romance is perfectly acceptable here. Blissful was designed originally to be a 1xR only archive, I have since strayed from that purpose to make it a site (haven?) for non-yaoi / het fans to participate in fandom(s) without being hasseled for being homophobic or whatever else since their pairing doesn't include yaoi. Or having every conversation degenerate (yes, I used that word) into why there isn't more boy-kissing in the damned show.

Yes, I'm creeping onto my soap box. A recent series I've been watching has reminded me how little I think of the whiny little fanbrats who just watch shows in the hopes that they'll see pretty boys kissing. Enjoy the plot or any of the girl characters? NO! ALL GIRLS IN ANIME MUST DIE!
