LAST CHAPTER: CH1
He moved his glance towards the other side of the building, perhaps there was another way into the grounds. He turned away and began to circle the property searching for another gate or door that would lead him inside. He found a small back door made of rotting wood which he pushed aside with a creak. As the door slid back on its hinges he found himself in a badly cared garden of some sorts. As he took his first step inside, he failed to see the looming sign above his head that read: ?Byberry Mental Hospital for women??
CH2:
The first thing Quatre noticed was the overall gloominess of the place. It was very dark and he could hardly see anywhere past his own feet. The rain had begun to die down and he could faintly make out the structure of the building atop a hill. The walls were worn down into a yellowish sort of paint color and were filled with cracks. The shutters on the windows were ready to fall off in a heap of rotting wood. The windows were intact but they seemed to be made to keep people in rather than keep people from getting in. It all looked more like a prison to Quatre and he began to wonder the purpose behind it. Shivering slightly, Quatre was shaken from his dark thoughts and remember his true purpose for coming here, shelter. There seemed to be no way in through the building except for the windows, and he doubted he could get past the iron bars. ?If only the rain would stop completely I could climb up the walls and search for another way in,? Quatre thought. The possibility was shot completely out of the way as thunder began to clap in the distance. His gaze wondered to a secluded part of the hospital grounds where he could make out a faint white outline in the dark. He was captivated by what he saw. He wasn?t sure exactly what it was. It looked like a lost spirit, and for a moment he experienced a sort of fear that left him paralyzed on the spot.
The figure stepped into the rain and began to walk into the center of the garden, dressed all in white he could make out a womanly figure under the clothes. They were soaked wet and stuck to her skin showing off her figure. Even though she appeared to be quite thin he was captivated by the length of her hair. It was a faded golden color and reached her thighs. That was what caught most of his attention. The figures hair, there was only one other person in the whole world and galaxy that he knew of that possessed that hair. A pang in his heart made him override his wistful thinking and instead use reason. She was long gone, non-existent. For the time being, he had to clear his head from the wayward thoughts about his past and the girl that had once long ago captivated his heart.
Turning his attention back to the women in white, he was surprised to see her with her arms in the air straight out; just standing there, as if waiting for something to happen. Lighting struck once again and he jumped in alarm, but the girl stood firm and smiled in all her glory. The storm seemed to calm her, soother her. Her demeanor had changed and now she seemed to be at peace. The rain drops coated her golden cascade of hair and made it shine. Others strayed to her face and dripped down her cheeks and onto her neck, where they disappeared into the coarse material of her dress. The bottom hem of it was ripped and sullied by the mud, her feet were bare but she didn?t seem to notice her lack of shoes. The wind toyed with her stands of hair and swirled around her form moving her wide skirt about in the wind, exposing her milky calves and captivating his eyes.

Dorothy was in a semi conscious state at the time the lightning began to strike. She was letting her worries go in the storm. To her, it was only in storms like these that she could feel free to let her calm demeanor and fake facade drop. She could become once again the real Dorothy traumatized by the war and left bitter after her incarceration in the hospital.
Dorothy wavered for a bit in her standing position, getting another dizzy spell: the after-effects of the shocking treatments she received. She tried to be adamant in her wish to remain upright with her head thrown back to taste the fullest part of the raging storm, but she felt suddenly weakened from lack of sleep and proper nourishment. Her calm smile turned into a weak frown as her head bounced back down and her hands weakly flopped down to her sides. She wanted to puke as bile rose to her throat. It was a warning that her body couldn?t take any more of what she had undergone already. She let out a painful sigh as she let unconsciousness take over. It was suddenly very dark.
****
He couldn?t take his eyes off of her. Blinking, to release the drops of moisture that had clung to his eyelashes, he felt a sort of hypnosis taking over. Quatre was shivering intensely under the spell the figure was weaving. It had turned foggy all of a sudden and he precariously took a few steps forward to keep her in his light of vision. He strained his eyes to see beyond the muddiness and the dark, and suddenly she was not there. Quatre visible began to panic and wondered if he had gone mad. Was the figure actually there at all? Did it even exist? Was stress catching up to him after all and had made him imagine things that weren?t there? Imagined her? As he rushed forward to confirm his fears, he found himself with a barrier at his feet. Warily leaning down to investigate, he found himself looking at the fallen angel with a pain in his heart he knew all too dear.
She was on her back with one hand over her face and the other strewn away from her body, her hair was in a muddy mess which concealed her facial features. Quatre leaned down to pick her up in his arms with her face tucked into his wet chest. His shirt was already muddied by the rain and her hair did not make it any better but he found out he surprisingly did not care at the moment. He was more worried for the girl?s health and her present condition than his own. He shifted her position to a more comfortable one as he moved away from the open space she was in to a corner of the yard where he sat against the trunk of one of the largest trees. He peered into the darkness and found out that he had nowhere else to go but to sit tight with the mysterious stranger in his arms.

Dorothy was wakened up by the sudden body warmth that encompassed her as she felt around to investigate her situation. She felt strong muscles and slick skin from the rain that was still roaring in her ears. She felt safe for the first time in years. Her head was dull with a pain she had learned to hate. She tried to open her eyes and a sudden flash of pain in her right ankle stopped her cold. A gasp woke her up from her pain induced sleep as she felt cold fingers rush to the hurting spot and search for the injury. She hesitantly opened her heavy eyes to asses the damage. What she hadn?t expected was to wake up to the purest aqua blue eyes she swore never to see again. ?Quatre???
****
Quatre had felt the girl shift around in his arms and had felt her stiffen up. He knew she had to be hurt and searched for the cause of the pain. He found one of her feet to be quite swollen and red. ?Hmm, probably a sprain?? Quatre thought. She felt so light in his arms, like a fragile doll, that could break at any moment. As he caressed her ankle he was startled by a small voice calling out to him. He looked around to find the owner of that voice. As he looked around in the dark, he noticed the girl in his arms had begun to move. Looking down at the weak girl he was surprised to see her awake and staring avidly into his eyes, as if she was trying to confirm a fact.
Mudded hair was plastered to her face and fallen strands covered her cheeks. He could feel her labored breathing under the rough material of her gown and blushed to see it was wet and very provocatively clinging to her ample breasts and small waist. He could only stare back as she raised a hand to cup his cheek and open her mouth to gasp silently as shock took over her wide features and darkness claimed her once again.
Quatre had not expected the girl to know his name and much less feel as if she had the right to touch him the way she did. As he lay the girl down on the soft ground he peered closely at the girls face, there was something very familiar about her?
Thoughts of Dorothy filled his mind as pain engulfed his chest and he tore at it, his heart began to pound heavily with dread. He gasped out in dread and moved his eyes towards the girl?s hidden eyes. With trembling fingers he moved the sticky strands out of his way and peered closely at the girl?s face. 'No?.it couldn?t be? Could it?? ?Dorothy??? he asked with a broken voice.
****
Dorothy could not believe her eyes. There he was, just as she had remembered him. He was staring closely at her face. To confirm his thoughts she lifted a hand to caress his damp cheeks. Sliding her numb fingers over his eyes and the bridge of his nose, she suddenly felt him gasp and quickly move hurried fingertips over her face. She almost closed her eyes in relish of his soft touch once again on her face. Just as she was about to, he murmured something under his voice??Dorothy??
Before she could react to his shaky words she found herself unable to speak or breath. His lips on hers shut out any rational thought that she had left while he turned to physical contact to prove her as part of reality. The rain had continued to dribble down around and above them quietly while a pair of trembling hands had reached out to interlace themselves. Quatre let out a long held sigh as he released her mouth to have a better hold on her tiny waste. His arms abruptly went around her with a force filled with strong kept emotions.
She shuddered against him, for the first time realizing who was holding her and where they were. ?I missed you so much?you have no idea how long I searched, how long I wondered where you were, if you were okay?? Quatre confessed with a broken heart. Dorothy bit her lip and bowed her head in shame. She had also missed him, but given up her search and hope a long time ago. He, on the other hand, never lost the ever flowing optimism that made him the person she fell in love with, oh so long ago, and what made her love him still.
****
The emotions that coursed through his very soul were kicking and trying to roam free.
He embraced the feeling of joy and happiness of seeing her again, and being able to share this moment with her. Leaning back to peer into her face he was startled to find her head hung low and her eyes obscured by her ever sinuous hair. He gently frowned as he reached out to tilt her face with his dripping knuckles. Her pale eyes were glowing under the moonlight and they sought comfort. ?What happened to you after Libra? I mean, I searched everywhere for you.? Quatre asked earnestly. Dorothy found out that she couldn?t possible answer his question. What would he do if he found out that she had been disgraced by her family, pronounced mad and left to rot in a mental hospital? Would he still speek sweet words of love to her? Maybe not, but would he pity her? There was only one way to find out.
She opened her mouth to speak, closed it, once again bit her lower lip in distraught and let out a pronounced sigh. Quatre encouraged her with loving words and sought out her hands. While he rubbed soothing circles with the pads of his thumbs over her open palms, she began her story. She told him with hushed words of her trial and how she was declared mad. She was so unemotional that Quatre began to worry what kind of horrors she had to withstand after they parted ways on that fated day in Libra.
After speaking of her trial she stopped and looked deeply into his eyes, asking silently for acceptance. As he hugged her Dorothy caught a glimpse out in the horizon. It was the sun; it was rising in a mixture of pinks and oranges. It was amazing and she was only glad she could have shared it with the one person she had left and loved.
It suddenly dawned on her that the sun was rising, peeking out behind the tall hills and it would be morning soon. He had to leave; they would soon find her and eventually lead her to hell back again. Quatre noticed her change in demeanor and quickly gathered her into her arms asking her what was wrong. ?They will come for me, soon?I will never see you again?? she brokenly whispered. ?What?? Why?? he asked, quite concerned over who could possibly hurt her and take her away from him again. He looked over the garden and suddenly realized where he was?where they were?where she had suffered her hell. Almost without thinking he grasped her waist and pulled her up to her feet, demanding to know what had really happened to her.
Suddenly he could hear voices out in the distance calling out for help. Undoubtedly they had found her empty bed. She pulled out of his warm embrace and Quatre could find no words to describe the various emotions that made her face contort with surprise, fear, and what made her regress back into herself. Without questioning her further he knew she had no right to be here and that being there caused her pain. He quickly gathered her into his arms and held her protectively against his chest. By this point, after seeing her pain, he gave up on all rational thought and made an immediate decision. She was not staying there; he could not leave her alone to suffer whatever pain she had previously endured.
In a bold move he carried the still form of Dorothy across the badly cared for garden and searched for the way out. He found the wooden door with which he had come in and pushed it open with his strength. Once out the door he ran down the hill with the traumatized girl in his arms. As he got to the street he walked a few blocks until he was as far away as possible for that horrible place he found her in and hailed a cab back to his hotel. He had to keep her safe at all costs. He had to take her away from that horrible place. Now the question he asked himself was: 'could he keep her???
