White Picket Fence Preview:What do you think?(Wrong Guy Seq)

Post by RienaYuy »

THis is the third book/segment/part thingy. Like I sai before, there is a story that actually occurs between The Wrong Guy and White Picket Fence. While Running isn't absolutly necassary to understand White Picket Fence, it will clear up a few things and describe, obviously, what happens inbetween the two books. Now, I have two questions. A. After reading this, please post if you want Running to come up first or just skip it in place of a short summary at the beginning of White Picket Fence
and B. What do you think of the opening?

As the sun began to shine over a distant hill, night began to drain from the sky. When the sun?s rays finally hit the sky in ecstasy, the bright rays stretched far and wide, highlighting the lush green grass surrounding a small, white house with green trim and a little white picket fence all the way around.
As shadows sank into nothingness, the freshly painted wooden panels glistened in the sunlight. It wasn?t a large house, holding only two bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen, and a living room, but it was cute. The doorframe and front two windows were trimmed in an emerald green, as were the corners of the house. Windows on either side of the door revealed matching green curtains pulled shut against the incoming rays.
A thin gray-stoned walkway led from the gravel road up to the house, the aged stone looked worn but comforting to its trespassers. The driveway was no more than a tin and wooden roof supported by four beams, but it?s plainness seemed to match the dull blue of the small neon parked beneath it. Dusty and old, the car had obviously been through a lot of use, and was very old.
Despite the small home, vast open grassland spread out in glee behind it. All that belonged to the owners of the house was encircled in a white picket fence, which started out small in the front but grew to about 5 feet tall in the back. They only owned a few acres, but the small lake in the farthest part of their property made it all worth it.
Immediately behind the house was a small newborn tree, flourishing in the fresh air and sunlight. Against the wall of the house lay a small square garden with succulent green springs popping out, reaching up for the sunlight. This small garden lay to the right of a white door with a window taking over the top half of it, also hidden by green curtains. To the left of the door and in all the windows in the back of the house meticulously tended red, purple, and white flowers grew in red brick tubs. They too flourished; love and care helped them grow large and bright.
It looked like paradise to a passerby, a countryman?s dream home. Simple yet pleasant, it was all a young couple needed. The nearest house was about a mile and a half down the road, far enough for privacy but close enough in case of an emergency or a friendly visit.

Inside the house, past the low ceilinged kitchen of bright yellow and through the cozy living room containing a large white couch, a bookshelf, and a TV, sat an opened brown bedroom door. Inside the room two figures laid in each other?s arms beneath thin dark blue cotton sheets.
The man lay with his head turned slightly to one side, one hand up behind it and the other beneath a young and very pretty blonde. His mossy brown hair was ruffled by sleep but gave him a boyish look, contrasting with the maturity of the stubble on his chin. His skin was slightly tanned, by work in the sun, not because he was made that way. His lips were slightly parted; his breathing was almost too quiet to be heard.
Lying on his arm, turned in to cuddle against the man?s warmth, lay a softly snoring blonde. Her shining, soft hair was spread back from her face, framing it in an ethereal halo about her head. Both of her arms rested on his chest, slightly clenching his green t-shirt. She looked young, but wisdom pulled at the corner of her eyes, revealing that her youthful beauty was misleading.
The old/young couple looked comfortable and cozy, the perfect image of love as they laid. But they could not stay like this forever.
Intruding rays seeped through a slit in the curtains of the bedroom, hitting Heero?s face in it?s yellow glory. Heero?s eyes flinched slightly and her raised a hand to cover them. After rubbing his face with one hand he looked from the morning light over to the woman. Relena still slept soundly, her snoring almost making him smile.
Gently Heero pulled him arm from under her and stood up out of bed. He made sure that she was still covered and walked silently out of the door and across the hall, into a white and purple bathroom. He walked silently without ease, his joints held stiff in remembrance of an old practice. Despite the changes that have come over him in the last seven years, his body still remembered being a soldier.
He ignored his face in the mirror and opened the cabinet behind it. He pulled out his toothbrush and toothpaste and went to through the ritual he has gone through almost every morning of his life. As he did this, his mind wondered back to his old friend: Duo. The first image of him came back as a stupidly smiling teenager with hair longer than his girlfriends.
Heero had read on the Internet the news of the Sanq kingdom. After Relena had disappeared Milliardo took her place, ruling, as he said, ?Only as a substitute until my sister is found,? Duo, now head of Security, seemed to receive the blunt of the blame for Relena?s disappearance but recovered well. He is now married to Hilde and the rumors flying around the net were that his wife was pregnant. Heero almost snorted, that is how Relena?s life used to be. Every aspect of her personal life flung about the Internet.
For a while the papers focused on the fact that Relena and her bodyguard had disappeared, but somehow Duo and the rest of the old G-Boys had made that one disappear.
Heero spit out the toothpaste and began stripping, not caring to close the door. He turned on the steaming water and stepped into the shower. But after only a few moments he sensed someone else in the bathroom. He heard the curtain slide back and felt the warmth of a second body step in behind him.
Heero smiled and turned around, although water smeared his eyes but he knew who smiled up at him. Pulling her close, the hot water pelting them both, he titled her head back for a long, steamy kiss.
I'm surprised, Heero. You really turn up in the most unexpected places. -- Duo

I am having a little bit harder time getting Running written, it is like my 'Advanture/action/romance" type of story. Give me a day or two and I will either post the first chapter of Running or the whole first chapter of white picket fence.
