They sat in the pews, all formerly dressed and waiting for this somber occassion and like the majority of the population surrounding them for this day, emotions and tears ran high. Heero looked to his left and saw his eldest child lean against a younger man, he could see her whispering into his ear and knew exactly what words she had said. As if reading his thoughts, the girl turned her head towards her father and gave a meek smile, he smiled back. A twinge of sadness began in his chest when he saw his daughter lean against the man and he put his arm around her shoulders, down her arm, and settle comfortably at her waist. Three months.
"Relena, don't cry," he whispered into the ear of the woman beside him, looking heartwrenchingly beautiful with a shawl around her shoulders and the earrings that he had given her last year. Heero bent his head slightly to the right as he felt her body sway and sag heavily against his shoulder. She let go of her tissues and clutched both of his hands with hers. He didn't have to look down to see that they were pale and white because he was reacting the same way.
"We're going to be okay," he reassured her in his no-nonsense tone of voice but when he looked up again he knew that things would not be okay. So many years they had endured together, the prejudice, the ideals, the hardships and the laughter; all the things that held them together as one was slowly dispersing apart from them. He hated to admit it, but sometimes it hurt. A sigh from the couple behind them and he was reminded that they weren't alone. But he was never alone, not with her beside him.
"I've lost a son," Relena said to her husband in a quiet voice and directed her gaze away from the front, hoping to maintain her composure. Alas, the sight of other pink-eyed women with wet tissues broke her, she looked to the front again and hiccuped. Heero reached into his back pocket and brought out his own handkerchief to give to her, wishing he had another one to wipe his damp forehead with. "But we have a daughter, Heero."
His eyes moved from the front to her and back to the front again, he saw the glimmering tears in her eyes and he knew that both she and his daughter were proud. His peripherial vision allowed him to see that his firstborn was repeatedly sighing and he knew that they were connected, just like her parents were. Unable to sit still with Relena gripping her hands and Heero gripping hers, they leaned against each other for support. When the pair at the altar stood up with the veil and cord* over their heads, he pressed his lips together and closed his eyes while the prickling sensation threatened to unwind. For one of the few moments in his wonderful life, he let them fall.
And she whispered, "we did good, Love, we did good."

Oh dear.
Perhaps I was being a little too vague there with the descriptions, I was sorely tempted to hint to the colour 'white' but that might have given too much away. Anyhoo, 'twas an intentional misdirection and I'm glad you were able to find it interesting... to a certain degree!
Thank you angel222 for saying it was sweet. *blush*

The cord and the veil clued me in. It also helped that there was that note about Filipino wedding. Ah, the feelings the pair must have felt. Still, very revealing of their feelings. And how parents feel during weddings. Nice!
