Chapter 4

Roxanne was not a morning person.

She went through her usual thing, falling out of bed, dragging herself to the breakfast table where servants tended her meal, making her way to the living room and watching tv.

Amanda pulled up in the driveway and came in. Roxanne straitened up and said, ?Amanda dear, come in, sit down.? Amanda came in and sat down next to her with an uncomfortable look on her face. Roxanne: ?Is something wrong?? Amanda said nothing. Now Roxanne was worried. Roxanne: ?What?s the matter?? Amanda: ?Its Heero, I?m not sure if he can do this. He took the death of Johny pretty bad.? Roxanne: ?I thought so, it must have hurt him deeper than I thought.? Amanda: ?He might not be up to the task. Will you let me go the meeting? I will wait and see if Heero pulls through, if not-? Roxanne: ?Say no more, you can go, take Charles with you for backup.? Amanda: ?Alright.? Roxanne puts her arm around Amanda?s shoulders and says, ?Don?t worry, nothing will happen if he fails, I know how much you care for him, and I care for him too.? Amanda nods and walks out, Roxanne orders Charles to stay behind. She walks past him, and stops. Roxanne: If it looks like Heero has betrayed us for the Queen, take him out, the threat to us is to great if he is a traitor.? Charles nodded and followed Amanda.

Heero was a morning person.

He had got up and already left in the morning for the JC. He rented a room in an apartment house and told security he was a musician who played the guitar and didn?t like his instrument touched.

Just as planned.

Heero opened the case with the sniper gun and bazooka inside.

On the other side of the JC, Amanda was setting up her weapons in an old, abandoned, five-story factory that was taller than the two-story JC. Charles set up his weapons in a building in-between Amanda and Heero.

Relena was already inside and it was a matter of hours before she would come out. As the hours passed on, news vans and reporters lined the sidewalk and roadway in anticipation of the Queen?s appearance.

At last, the doors finally opened and security guards came walking out.

The three assassins take aim.

Then it happens, Relena walks out and Heero sees her face.

In that instant, everything slowed down, Heero could hear his heart beat, and it was beating hard. Heero started to sweet, watching her move, he felt something for the first time, he couldn?t put his finger on it, or the trigger.

His trigger finger started twitching, he couldn?t fire.

Amanda watched Heero. Amanda: ?Come on Heero, you can do it. Just pull the trigger. Just aim, and fire!?

Charles stood silent, keeping his gun trained on Heero.

Relena almost made it to the car, Heero missed his chance.

Amanda: ?Damnit!? Amanda shifted her aim towards Relena.

Heero spotted Amanda out the corner of his scope aiming for Relena. The instinct to protect took over and Heero fired grazing her shoulder and knocking her to the floor. Charles realized what Heero did and aimed at Relena.

Heero was thrown into a whirlpool of emotions beyond his control. The shouting and screaming of the crowd below grabbed his attention and he looked down.

The sight of Relena?s lifeless body caused Heero to grow cold. Blonde hair stained in blood, but then, Heero noticed something.

Makeup.

She was wearing makeup to change her appearance.

Charles shifted aim to fire at Heero when he spotted a limo parked behind the building. Charles: ?Shit.?

Heero saw the limo, and Charles aiming at it. He turned his aim at Charles.

Charles spots Heero aiming at him and turns towards him. The target finds Heero?s scope and Heero fires. The bullet went right through Charles? scope and through his eye.

Needless to say, he?s dead.

Heero dropped his gun and ran out into the crowds of chaos. Amanda got back up and picked up her bazooka. She saw the body and aimed for an opening in the building when she saw the limo and Relena running towards it. Amanda: ?No.? She aimed for the car, and then saw Heero running towards Relena. Amanda: ?No!?

Heero bursted through two guards twice his size and shouted, ?Look out!? Relena looked around and saw Amanda aiming her bazooka. Relena started running away and Heero came running up behind her.

Amanda fired her bazooka and the limo exploded. Heero caught up with Relena and lunged to protect her. The explosion expanded and the flames engulfed Heero and Relena.

Amanda dropped the launcher and sat back. Suddenly, the explosion rocked Amanda?s building. Amanda screamed as the building began to lean, and lean, and lean, until it fell and collapsed on the JC.

The explosion and buildings was engulfed in a massive cloud of smoke.

She sold him out like that...damn.

And Charles...what was he thinking? Trying to take out Heero. *Scoffs* MIght as well just commit suicide.
