Before it's too late Chapter 1

Here ya go. After that intense begingng...comes well a rather uneventful chapter one. Sorry, but I need to set up the plot for ya all! Hope you enjoy!

BEFORE IT?S TOO LATE
The year is AC 1911, an attack was made on the humans at precisely 1:30 in the afternoon. Thousands were killed with this attack no one was warned no one was spared. Ex rebellion troops had stormed the city soon after and took control. The Earth and colonies were now engulfed in another war. This attack was claimed to be righteous as the EX wanted revenge for the protest massacre, as they called it. Most of the leaders of the ESUN were killed in this attack, thus dissolving the peace keeping organization. The military now rose up again to take on the rebellion. But there was no true enemy was there? The humans had done something terrible to the EX, and now EX peoples had done something terrible right back. A hand full of pilots were asking themselves this very question. Still a silence hung around them at the thought of their fallen comrade.

?Then it?s decided. We?ll be joining the Human?s militia?? A blonde Arabian spoke out into the silence.

?I think it?s the best choice. I mean we?re human so doesn?t that make sense?? Dou threw his comment out to the others.

Another tall, lean man with one green eye showing nodded in agreement.
A Chinese man got up from his chair and paced over to a window, and rested his forearm on the window.

?I?.I still can?t believe he?s gone.? Wufei said in almost an angry tone.

Once again a silence had fallen over the room.

?You?re wrong he?s not.? A trembling voice came from behind them in a doorway.

A frial broken girl stood before them. Her eyes were red and irritated. But she stared directly into the room. Dou felt his heart sank. When will she understand?

?Relena, come on, I hate to say this but we have got to move on. All of us.? Dou said while getting up from his chair. ?You even said for yourself he was??

?I know but that?s because everything had happened so fast I didn?t have time to think I?I didn?t believe in him.? She looked down almost ashamed of her actions, but looked up into all their eye?s once again. ?I have just got this feeling, that he?s still out there, I know he is still alive.?

Dou looked around for support from the others to talk some sense into her, but found none. He was going to say something but then two more figures walked in the door. A tall man with long platinum hair and piercing eyes stepped through, along with a tall woman with dark short hair. Relena looked backed at her brother and Noin and turned her head away.

He looked around at the silent almost eerie room and asked, ?Have you all made you?re decision??

Trowa was the one who spoke up this time. ?We will fight the EX, and join the militia.?

?Very well? Zechs answered. He turned his head to his sister, ?And you Relena??

Relena took a deep breath as if mustering the courage to say, ?I will step down.? And turned facing the opposite direction of everyone else, unable to look at them.
Everyone including Zechs seemed to take a step back and a gasp of air.

?What do you mean Relena?? Quatre asked in a shocked voice.

Relena finally told them what Snow had said, about his plans with the colonies if she decided to step in.

?But he?s dead now isn?t he?? Dou asked. ?That?s why Herro stayed behind to stop him that?s why he is dead.? His voice began to die away with the sentence. He never thought he would have to put ?Herro? in a sentence, and ?dead? as describing him.

?Yes, but how do we know that the threat died along with him? I can?t take that chance. I already lost one thing that was precious to me, I don?t need to loose more innocent lives either.? Relena stated while more tears streamed down her face. She found herself crying much more easily.

?You can?t be serious. You can?t believe that it was your fault. Don?t let what happened in the past cloud your future.? Zechs said while putting a hand on Relena?s shoulder. ?You have to let go. He?s gone. We all feel hurt without him.?

She spun around and threw off her brother?s hand. ?You don?t know that!? she yelled. ?You have no idea how I feel!? She looked back through the window where it was storming outside. ?Life can be so cruel, and unrelenting. Just when he told me he?.? She broke off.

She continued to look outside, just staring off, deep in thought. She felt all the eyes in the room on her. With a slight glance backward at her friends she wiped her tears and simply walked out the door. Zech?s was about to stop her, but Noin grabbed his hand and when he turned to look at her she simply shook her head. Zech?s stared as if asking for an answer. ?Leave her be, she?s in more pain then any of us could imagine.?

Every one in the room seemed to be a bit lost. Dou turned to the rest of them and whispered, ?Well I am not sure exactly what happened, but last I saw him he had a bouquet of flowers, and well?.he was going to see her.?

The others exchanged glances. Dou finished, ?I think he finally told her he loved her.?

The room suddenly went cold, and silent.

?I thought he was invincible. No matter what it just seemed like nothing could touch him. I think I speak for all of us when we had the reassuring thought that Herro Yuy was still there.? Quatre said with a deep sadness buried in his voice. That thought seemed accepted by everyone.

Trowa stood up and walked to the window where Relena had been only moments sooner. ?Well when you think about it we are all lucky to be here. We were all in disaster zones when they struck. Because that first city was only the beginning of their string of attacks.?

Wufei rose from his seat and walked toward the door his hands were clenched shut. He stopped right before Zechs and Noin.

?Where are you going?? Noin asked raising an eyebrow.

?He wouldn?t want this.? Wufei spoke without meeting her eyes. The others looked up at him.

?He wouldn?t want us to mope around like this. He would want us to do the right thing and move on, to fight back. Herro would want us to stop this war before it gets out of hand. He was the perfect soldier, he knew what he was getting himself into. He was protecting the person he loved. Now we must not let his death be in vain, we must carry out what he started. We have to protect the ones we love now. We also now must take over his role.? He paused and looked back. ?We must protect Relena.?


Wufei walked out of the room and headed off on his own.

?For once I totally agree with that guy.? Trowa said and followed the Asian boy out of the small office.

Zechs watched as Trowa left and looked over into Noin?s eyes.

?We?ll make it through this.? She whispered. And he took her hand and squeezed it in his.

?We have to for him.? Zechs replied and followed the others out.

Quatre began to exit and noticed that Dou still hadn?t left nor said anything. He just sat down with his hands on his forehead.

?What?s wrong Dou?? Quatre tried to ask in a pleasant voice.

?Just thinking about what you said. You were right no matter how bad things looked there was always that thought that Herro was still out there. That he was going to make it in time. I mean look at the battle with the Barton Foundation. We were about to go out in the blaze of glory when all of a sudden he shows up, and has the solution. He figures out the riddle. He finds a way when everything else doesn?t work. Yeah that was a reassuring thought, but now we don?t have that anymore.? Dou said while running his fingers through his hair.

?Yeah I know, but hey, Herro needs us to be strong for him now. He needs us to do our duty, not only as soldiers, but as his friend. Come on, lets go catch up with the others.?

The two men walked out of the room, and Quatre could?ve sworn that he saw Dou wipe one of his eyes with his coat.

?It will be alright, at least I hope? He though to himself.

After everything that happened in the preventer office, Relena took herself home. She didn?t really want someone to take her, she needed to be alone. She had a plan brewing in her head, and she was serious. Since she was no longer the Vice Foreign Misiter, she could do what she wanted.

?I am going to find you Heero Yuy. I will find you so you can set everything right again, before it?s too late.?

P.S. Is this like Gundam Seed where there are 'actual' humans and 'mutated' humans of some sort; thus, the name "EX"?
