I found this board while looking for something else (isn't that what always happens?) and was totally blown away. I hadn't realized that this sort of thing existed. I'm a virtual babe in the woods here (yes, I did mean that pun).
I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember up until almost 5 years ago. I suffered a TIA stroke and was unable to write creatively since then (I also developed a problem with spatial reasoning, but that's another issue I'm still working on).
Then one day (as all fine stories start), I happened across a fan fic story of Inu Yasha and read it. It was like a key had been turned in my head. I could hardly wait to get home to start writing a short story based on the Inu Yasha characters. I wrote for 4 hours straight that night. It was as if I had been given back a gift that I thought was gone forever.
I'm taking baby steps right now and sticking to short stories (I had completed 3 unpublished novels and was working on a 4th before the stroke) for now. At some point I would like to post the Inu Yasha one I've almost finished, but I need time to transcribe it to computer as all my stories start out on paper and are written long-hand.
My favourite anime is Inu Yasha and I'll read just about any kind of story, except for westerns which I don't really care to much for. I'm a binge reader. I'll go through 8 or 10 books on a weekend and then not read anything for a week or two. Favourite types of books are sci-fi, fantasy, occult and, of course, romance (the naughter the better). If I can find one that combines all of those, I'm in heaven.
