Chapter Thirteen
?Relena Peacecraft, would you make me the luckiest and happiest man in the world, and marry me??
Emotions overcame Relena at the sound of these words. Collapsing next to where Heero knelt, she flung her arms around his neck and cried harder than she was before.
Heero didn?t know what to do at first. He just sat there holding her as she cried.
?Relena what?s wrong? Why are you crying?? he finally asked her.
?Because I?m just so happy,? she sobbed in reply.
?Happy??
Heero was confused. He did not understand that tears could be shed for joy as well as sorrow.
?Yes Heero. I?m crying because I?m happy that you finally gave in to your feelings. I had hoped that this moment would come but I never imagined that it would this soon. Yes Heero, of course I?ll marry you,? she said as she continued crying her tears of joy.
?You will?? he stammered. ?Of course I will. From the moment I met you I knew that you would be the one. There was never a doubt in my mind that one day I would be with you.?
Looking down at Relena, Heero saw the smile that was covering her face as she stared up at him. With a finger he wiped away the tears from her face and slowly pulled her up to him and kissed her.
Slow and passionate, the kiss seemed to last forever to Relena, and in the next instant she was being picked up and carried to her bed where Heero laid her down gently, and then continued his assault on her mouth with his.
They continued the kiss as their hands explored each other?s bodies, caressing and groping as they let their passion take over their senses. Heero suddenly stopped and looked deep into Relena?s eyes and just stared for a moment.
Finally he said, ?I love you Relena Peacecraft.?
?And I love you Heero Yuy,? she replied softly.
And then they made love long into the night and well into the morning until the fell asleep in each other?s arms.
Back at the hospital the first light of morning was creeping into the rooms as the nurses and doctors began to make their morning rounds.
?Good morning Mr. Yuy and how are we?.,? was as far as Sally got when she saw the empty bed and open window.
?I should have known that this would happen eventually. I?m surprised it took as long as it did. Take care of her Heero or you will have to answer to us all.?
Sally closed the window and left the room heading down the hall to continue the rest of her work. Back at the Peacecraft mansion Zechs was heading down the hall to Relena?s room to check on her.
?I?ve never seen her as upset as she was last night. Please don?t close yourself off too much, dear sister, for it could end up consuming you.?
Zechs knocked on the door and called out.
?Relena are you awake??
The sound at the door roused both Heero and Relena from their sleep.
?Oh shit your brothers here,? Heero cursed softly.
The visible fear on his face almost made Relena laugh.
?Don?t worry about him,? she said as she leaned over and kissed him.
?He can?t tell me what to do or how to act any more. I?m up Zechs.?
Cautiously Zechs opened the door a little ways and gasped in shock at what he saw in the mirror.
?What is Heero doing here and why is he getting dressed in my sister?s room??
?ZECHS! At least wait for me to put some clothes on before you come barging in!?
Turning a deep shade of red, Zechs closed the door and apologized for his intrusion.
?I?m sorry Relena but I did not know that you had a guest with you.?
She did not care for his tone. It was resentful and sarcastic.
?And what concern is it of yours if I have a guest??
?It is a concern of mine when my sister has a male guest over for the night, in her room no less, under my roof!? he retorted.
Relena opened the door to make a comment, but as she did so Zechs fell backwards into her room as he had been leaning on the door.
?Are you alright?? she asked as she restrained a laugh.
?I?m fine. Good morning Heero. When did you arrive here?? Zechs asked through gritted teeth as he glowered at Heero.
?Zechs are you down here?? came the call from out in the hallway.
A moment later Zechs wife Lucrazia (still referred to as Noin by most people) entered Relena?s bedroom.
?There you are. I?ve been looking for you for hours. Where have you been hiding??
?I took a walk around the grounds this morning,? he replied as she kissed him.
As she turned to Relena she noticed Heero for the first time since she had entered the room.
?Oh Heero I didn?t see you standing there. What a pleasant surprise. It?s been a long time since we?ve had a guest here.?
Zechs shot Noin a look but it faded as she turned her attention on him.
?There was a call from the office for you. They said it was urgent which is why I have been looking for you.?
?Did they say as to why it was so urgent?? Zechs asked sounding extremely concerned.
?No but you are needed at headquarters immediately.?
Zechs turned to Relena and Heero and said, ?We will talk later. I had a feeling this would happen soon or later.?
Turning back to his wife he added, ?Be a dear and make them some breakfast. They must be starving.?
And then he winked over his shoulder at Heero.
?I?ll call you when I know the details of what is going on.?
Zechs kissed his wife quickly and headed out of the room with a grave look on his face that had everyone concerned.
?What could be going on at the Preventers that has Zechs so worried?? Heero thought. ?What ever it is it cant be good.?
But those thoughts were soon pushed from his mind as he felt Relena?s arms wrap around his waist, holding onto him tight. He looked down at her and saw the look of extreme concern on her face and the thoughts came rushing back.
?Zechs had better figure out what?s going on quick,? he thought.
Suddenly Noin?s broke the silence.
?Why don?t we go down and get something to eat. I?m sure the two of you are hungry after last night,? she said coyly.
Relena blushed furiously at Noin?s comment and Heero just grinned bashfully at her as the three of them walked toward the kitchen.
