Prologue
Okay I'm in a tower to surpress my evil energy what am I going to to? Bust out? No, not yet, I mustn't. Apherion swiftly moved to see the bolted door unlock. Licking her lips she walked over to the servant who was in fact carrying food on a silver platter. Useless grub, Apherion thought bitterly, nothing worth eating. But the servant on the other hand.
Her silver-blue armour glowed as the sunlight dimmed in the room. The door was slammed shut, while it locked from the outside. The servant's face went pale as he had sealed his own fate by walking in here.
"Foolish human," Apherion whispered coolly.
"Please don't kill me. I know of your work and how you destroyed my souls, you are the one that I fear." Oh, you have done your homework, too bad you could have been an assistant, Apherion thought smiling. The boys face went from pearl grey to starch white in a blink of an eye. Apherion grazed the poor, unfortunate boy's face; he shivered as a hand went to his back. She kissed him before pulling out his heart. Blood sprouted all over the walls as Apherion allowed time for her fangs to burst from the little tips on her piranah like teeth.
As she sucked the human dry the door flung open. Stun guns at the ready her father and his crew put out the near started wild fire that was his hanyou daughter. Placing her on the bed that had be made for her years ago. The unconsous girl lay peacefully cooking up a plan in her almost dead mind. Closing her eyes she heard the screams of the men beside her being tortured. Her father would be next.
Ch. 1
Love is a beautiful thing, thought a girl who hummed lovingly. She scratched the ears of her cat while she let a memory that wasn't hers play again in her mind. Apherion Rhapsody thought soothingly about the couple in her mind. A half-demon and a human; they had made good lovers, she thought. She had no idea who they were, her only clue was an I and a K carved into a tree. When she watched the two kiss passionately while she remembered a story her demon mother had read her. Her human mother died while giving birth to her so her full-demon father got a demon mother for her to grow up with so she would know what to do. 'Once upon a time,' the demon read, 'a beautiful maiden from another time fell in love with a hanyou. The maiden resembled a miko that the half-demon fell in loved with.' She loved the story, if only it were true. Apherion rolled over to see her youkai mother walking up the stairs to her room.
"Apherion, dinner." Her make-shift mother said in her unnerving human voice. Her mother had allowed her to leave her room after the five years of destroying servants and cousins. Apherion personally had killed them, or ate them.
"I'm coming, Anya" Apherion replied as she got up and followed the demon to the dining room. I will leave first chance I get. I am old enough to leave this wretched house, thought Apherion savagely. Dinner, in Apherion's opinion, wasn't worth eating. Lunch was way better, Anya would actually talk then. Tonight was different, however. Anya's hands shook as she put two cups full of tea on the table.
"Apherion...you're, y-you're...allowed to leave," Anya's voice shook more than her unoccupied hands. She looked at the demon.
"Yes!" She looked at her mother then said, "I mean why am I allowed to leave all of a sudden?" Anya held back the tears that were urging her to allow them freedom. Apherion saw the discomfort her mother eyes, as if the were begging for her to allow them to cry. "I don't care if you cry, Mother, but what has happened?" As she predicted, immense tears started rolling down the once strong face of her full-demon mother.
"K-kagato, you're father, isn't here any-anymore. He's d-dead." Anya cried. "It w-was his wish that you'd be able to leave when you turned of age (twenty in human years)!" Anya whimpered, tears still falling down like rain. Apherion was actually killed him. She thought that she couldn't kill him. I mean to say I've battled before but from afar...This spell would be in the record books of demons! She thought happily. Kagato, gone. Nothing anyone could do now. Apherion wasn't really broke up about it, she never really saw her father that much, so she really didn't know him, and she killed him so what did it matter?
Apherion ran upstairs to her room for money and clothing and things like that. The mirror in her pocket allowed her to see how much elfish her ears looked. The mirror was a present for her when she was born. It was made of pink pearls, silver, and diamonds. A diamond-eyed, silver-pearl body of a fairy sat at the top of the mirror. From the fairy's hands came silver vines and underneath the vines was the pink pearl covering with handle. The diamonds were embedded throughout the mirror itself with a spell on it that told you of your surroundings; it gleamed red if in an unsafe area, blue if need to hide my identity, and flashing white if I can be me.
She placed the mirror back into her flame haori, raked through her hair with her sharp, pointed fingernails, placed a birthday present her father gave her back into her bag, and was off slipping in and out of the forest. She was free and no one could stop her.
Her strength was matched to every boy demon she came up against all of her life. Her brains excelled under great pressure, and her powers left even the most powerful priestess speechless. She moved swiftly to the center of the forest thinking, have I been here before? A solitary tree stood in the middle of a circular pond. She walked steadily towards it, not knowing that her feet were touching stone instead of water. She walked all the way to the bark where she had seen these initials and words, I and K together forever.
This is absolutely ridiculous! I have been watching this couple make-out in front of a tree that was only miles away! I could have easily asked them who the heck they were and why they were in my mind! Apherion lay in the dirt mulling everything over in her head. Why, was the only thing she could come up with. Why did murder her stupid father, well that was easy. Because of her and her cold, dark heart. Why did her mother die was an easy one as well. Because her mother couldn't bear to know that her second child would, in fact, one day try and kill everyone, well who said that wasn't the plan. Her step-mother would soon meet the same fate that Apherion dealt her two parents. Not that she cared what happened to the wench.
My demons, Apherion thought, we will destroy her later, no need to worry about a pathetic full-demon. She'll have no idea anyway. She allowed ice to flow from her hands to freeze the tree. For some reason the icicle of a tree reminded her of a castle that she always wanted to live in. A burning yet frost-bitten palace. Who cared how many trees got destroyed? Apherion asked herself dolefully. Or maybe I could increase the territory of this place to make it.
She laid down on her back staring at the almost cloud-driven sky. Dark Water and the Future she had come from each time. Her mother from the future and her father from dark water and the bowels of hell. She had known this as she was sort of an evil Time Mage, Time Travel demon, etc.
Alright, Apherion said to herself, being evil can only be a part-time job for me. I can't hold grudges like I used to. She had no idea why she thought this but another thought came to her that was ludicrous too.
A bath will soothe me. I haven't bathed in this little lake before. She was shocked to hear herself thinking this; this was neither the time nor the place. Trying but to no avail to keep her body from moving. Apparently it was oblivious to the fact that she was trying to stop her zombie-like body.
Apherion grabbed a 'soap' bar from her pocket and set it down by the little lake. She touched the water with her foot; it was warming by the faint sunlight over head. She untied the knot in the back of the flame haori and let it drop to her feet. She then stepped out of it and threw it against the snow-covered tree. She climbed into the semi-warm pool of water, dragging her hand along the line of the lake until it reached the 'soap'. As she began to wash herself, she began to hum a made-up tune.
?Huh uh huh he de, de, de do, to shikon death may so far away, but for you it'll seem like eternity.? She sang with the tune and had started to rock with it. Apherion foam from the 'soap' curled around her shielding her from any view any guy had. She sniffed the air catching the fragrance of green-tea from her body wash.
The soap stuff had been from her father as a seven-year-old birthday present. She had never used it before now and she wondered why she hadn't. It soothed her uneasy mind wafting the acute scent into her nose. She dipped below the water to wet her hair when a shout came from the air piercing the serenity of the bath. Carefully easing her body to break the water, she heard another scream saying,
"Sesshoumaru-sama! What in gods name were you doing?!" After rolling this voice over in her head she realized it was a young girl's voice. She dried off as best she could, threw on her flame haori, and headed in the direction of the shouts. She didn't have far to look however they were coming straight at her. Apherion hurriedly jump into the tree; melting the snow as she went, while leaves sprouted evenly on the branches.
?Stupid girl, shut up; Lord Sesshoumaru doesn?t need you nagging at him!? Jaken, a really ugly demon, yelled at the girl.
?I?m not stupid, you are!? With that she hit him over the head with a stone she had.
"Rin, get out of it! I didn't...I couldn't do anything to harm anyone with the Tenseiga! You already know that!" The what looked like youkai looked as if he was scared of the human, pitiful really. "I didn't do anything, Rin."
"Oh yeah?" Came back Rin, "I don't think you know that I know that you can hurt people, I saw that green whip," Sesshoumaru hurriedly hid it in a pocket, "and I know you have other means of destroying humans as well. Please Sesshoumaru, enlighten me." Apherion wondered if the little kid knew what she was doing, but the demon Sesshoumaru didn't do anything making her think that the little girl was in charge.
"I...uh...you see, it was...well it's hard to say, but-" stammered the full-demon. This is disgraceful! A youkai, a powerful youkai, being controlled and afraid of a little girl? This was insane, thought Apherion almost laughing. Sure I am no true demon, but for his sake let's hope I'm the only demon for miles.
At least Apherion was right a little about that. Miles away Inuyahsa watched Kagome play with their first kid, Fionna Kai. Sango laughed as her and Miroku tried to get their first-born to stand; Inuyasha slid off the rock he was on to mess with the little girl?s hair. She looks so much like Shiori, he thought.
"Shippo, don't do that to the baby, you'll frighten him," Sango said exasperatedly as Shippo made faces at the infant.
"I don't have to frighten him, he's got Miroku for a father," SMACK! Before he knew what happened, Shippo had been slapped, by both Sango and Miroku. Rubbing his head, Shippo walked over to Kagome, Inuyasha, and Fionna.
"Shi-po! Shi-po!" Cried Fionna, grabbing his tail and slamming him down on the ground. This was amazing seeing that Shippo was now a teenager, basically speaking older looking, stronger, and about half as tall as Inuyasha.
"Okay, it's dangerous over here too," said Shippo to gales of laughter from Kagome, Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku. Shippo began playing with Fionna, even though she hurt him, he really thought she was cool to tell you the truth. Her dog ears twitched as a breeze lifted her silver-white hair; her white kimono whipped in the wind as she stood still. She sensed something, something that they would later find out about.
"She's got my strength," Inuyasha said proudly. ?Don?t you little Fionna?? Fionna turned her head smiling and nodded.
"And, I bet when she's older, she has your big head," Kagome said joking.
"Ha, ha," faked Inuyasha, when Kagome got up picking Fionna up with her,
"Oh is it time already?" Shippo asked. "Why do you always have to go?" Shippo hated it when Kagome left, with Fionna
"Because Mom wants to see Fionna at the very least twice a month," Kagome replied.
"Hey, let's make this a group visit," Sango said gathering her baby in her arms. "Matthew would love it," Miroku took Matthew out of his girl's arms.
"Okay, I bet Mom would love the company." Kagome replied, Inuyasha folded his arms looking like he always does, sullen.
?Inuyasha, what?s Mrs. Higurashi like anyway? Mean, sweet, or do you even care?? Miroku asked seriously.
?She?s alright, but Kagome and Sango are going to leave us if we-?
?Hurry up or we?ll leave you behind,? Running to catch up with the girls? to go down the well. Little did they know they were being followed.
"Uh huh, well while your making up your excuse I'll be-" but Apherion didn't hear where the raven-haired girl would be, at that moment her power-rings appeared on her arms. Ayie! Not now! Apherion scrambled to her feet to ease the horrible pain of the ritual, even though it wouldn't take away a lot of it.
Every quarter-moon at some time that day, the rings would appear to be forced back into the skin. This was one of the painful ways to keep powers from slipping out of you twice a month. Of course she could not do it for the day and wait for the quarter-moon, but she had too much to do not to place them back.
They glowed blue-white pushing their way out as she focused her mind on the rings. A pained expression flashed upon her face, playing across her mouth. If she didn't know any better she could see the demon looking at her. Her head tilted back in pain and her eyes were shut tight as the rings were forced back into the skin. The white-hot rings burned her skin slightly as they moved back into place. The ritual finished slowly as she dropped to her knees.
Sesshoumaru cast around for ideas to get him out of the trouble with Rin he almost always seemed to be getting into. That's when he saw her; a pretty, no striking female in one of the few Time Trees that they had in the feudal era.
"Gods, she's beautiful." Rin looked around at Sesshoumaru, but he was watching something; demons can see father than humans so Rin couldn?t see what it was in the tree he was looking at. Sesshoumaru saw the pain etched into every line of her body as silver rings were pushed out. With out blinking, he stared at the creature that had rings of blue-white on her arms. Her head snapped back as a white light emitted from the bracelets. It happened so fast he could only watch his idol plummet from the tree.
It looked like it took him an age to run to the tree. Time was moving slowly though, like it wanted him to reach her. He didn't move her from the position she was in when he caught her. Her left arm swung loosely at her side, he noticed three burn marks on it, but they healed quickly. He supposed that there were three on the other arm as well, but didn't look. A cherry blossom fell gently on her forehead revealing how pale her skin was. Long, crimson, silver-clad hair covered her right cheek and a part of her pale pink lips. Her ears and nails are just like mine, he thought, but cutely shaped. GAH! Stop that! Why'd I ever save her in the first place! A half-demon no doubt. Never would I be able to live this down! They're lower than humans! Sesshoumaru was disgusted with himself.
"She's beautiful, I guess you weren't lying," A voice called to Sesshoumaru pulling him out of his reverie.
"What? Why are you here?" Sesshoumaru asked looking at Rin.
"I saw you rush off after you said, 'Gods she's beautiful,'" replied Rin.
"I said that out loud?"
"You did," Rin said nodding her head.
"Stupid girl I'll teach you a lesson for not listening to me!" Jaken appeared shaking his staff at her.
"I never have listened to you and I won't start now!" And with that grabbed the staff and hit Jaken over the head. Who's teaching who? She asked herself. The gorgeous girl lay in Sesshoumaru's hands as Rin followed them off into the forest.
