Chapter 10: Meeting of hanyou and miko and rest of the FMP gang

Inaba Mizuki glanced at her watch. She would be a little late. That would get onto her friend's Kaname's nerves. She could blame it on the boy she was dragging through the streets. Tsubaki Issei. He was late. She invited him thinking they could do something romantic. Not that they were on a relationship; it was pretty much one-sided. Still, you never know, she thought. Mizuki was always hopeful that some romantic relationship would just happen. She envied Kaname the way she was so lovey-dovey with Sousuke.

Issei was looking at this trip as a way of finally being able to duel Sagara Sousuke. The karate club leader had been having grudges at Sousuke ever since they first met when Sousuke and Kaname booted his club out of the dojo that they had been practicing. Not that the pair wanted to; they were operating under the order of the Student Council. The problem was whenever Issei put a challenge letter into Sousuke's locker, Sousuke blew it up after sensing someone tampering with his locker and believing it to be a threat. He gave up trying to schedule a duel that way, but did not do much else. Issei should have kept doing it. Kaname was not the only one to realize that Sousuke now had less of a tendency to blow up things, or the soldier finally figured out a less explosive way to deal with the locker tampering. The locker area was now considered a safe zone in Jindai.

Issei used to look at winning his duel as a way of winning Kaname's approval. He had a crush on her at first sight, and still had the slightest hope that Kaname would go out with him, and not that Sagara! He knew better. Issei had even been slapped once by Kaname after he insulted Sousuke when he went on another mission during Christmas [check out dd's Christmas Cake story]. He did not mind not winning Kaname over now ever since that incident. She was just a woman! Now he just wanted to have a duel with Sousuke in a man's battle and come out the victor. That was all he asked.

"Sorry we are late!" Mizuki announced as she arrived, her hand still dragging Issei.

"Woman! Owwwww......." Issei was glaring at Mizuki.

"Oh come on Issei! You ARE late......" She then wrapped her arms around him in a playful hug.

"WOMAN! Get off me!" He was desperately trying to get rid of her.

Poor Issei. He was certainly not prepared to see Kaname. Not when he was headlocked by a crazy girl.

"Wow, Mizuki. I didn't know you had Tsubaki as your boyfriend. I'm sure he treats you well." Kaname said when she saw them.

Issei's heart seemed to drop to the ground. He wanted to say he was single, but he was too busy trying to tell Mizuki to get off him.

"Mizuki," Kaname continued, "it's nice you finally found someone!" She then went to kiss Sousuke, who was checking his bag that was stocked with weapons. He did not plan to pack that much weapons, but after being informed by Kalinin about a possible Gauln appearance, he made sure every weapon he owned was in the bag.

"Kaname......" Sousuke had a stern look. "Now is not the time. I have to make sure everyone arrives safely, as well as having every safety equipment and measure ready."

"Sousuke!! Otaku!" Kaname pouted.

Sousuke sighed. He kissed her back. She beamed.

Issei looked at Sousuke. SAGARA!! These couple days we will have the duel of your life!

Everyone else had arrived. Kazama Shinji, Sousuke's fellow otaku. Kaname felt that Shinji was the true otaku. Sousuke was otaku only because he had been brought up this way, with guns and AS being the nutshell of his life. Not Shinji. At least Sousuke finally had a civilian who is willing to talk to him about some of his own trade, even though Shinji's sources of information could be faulty at times. Still, he was pretty much an expert, especially in AS. It helped when his father was a commander at one of the military base in Japan. He learned more when Sousuke arrived at Jindai. Sousuke felt that Shinji only needed to learn how to control an AS to become a true specialist like himself.

Tokiwa Kyouko, Kaname's best friend since junior high. She used to set blind dates for the blue-haired girl, but obviously let up since Kaname and Sousuke were now an item. Kaname was glad she had Kyouko as a friend. She was not afraid to confide to her anything. Anything except Mithril and her being Whispered, of course. That was for Sousuke. Kyouko would qualify as one of the most understanding person Kaname ever met. She knew when to speak up only when she had to, and she knew when to shut up too. Even Sousuke said she was wise beyond her years. That would only apply when she was not snapping pictures with her trusty digital camera, however. No surprise today. She was now taking pictures of Mizuki lugging onto Issei.

Mizuki at first was an enemy of Kaname, after she thought the blue-haired girl was stealing her former boyfriend. However, after a while, she found out that Kaname would never do such things and was one of the nicest people she ever met. Kaname also took the step of befriending her, as she did with Sousuke. Mizuki never had such fun in her life until hanging out with Kaname and the rest. It helped when Kyouko's pictures were always a form of entertainment in themselves, and Sousuke always managed to create trouble. All that was left to do was to find a boyfriend. Issei would be perfect!

Mikihara Ren rounded out the group. Quiet and unassuming, she was the secretary of the Student Council. Although her father was actually a yakuza leader, she was the exact opposite of rough and tough. She was perhaps the most traditional of the females in the group: seemingly submissive, courteous, gentle, and caring as well. Her picture would appear next to the word "feminine". She was probably the only female in the entire school who actually wore her skirt at knee-length. Sousuke commented Kaname more often than not that she COULD be more like Ren. Oops. Sousuke knew now that would call for automatic halisen beating.

Sousuke looked and was satisfied everyone arrived. Including their two new friends today. Inuyasha and Kagome.

Inuyasha was not in his red hakama today, and he tied up his white hair. He was in T-shirts and jeans today. He looked exactly like someone from a street gang, especially with his expression. His look said it all. He was NOT happy when Kagome insisted that he should not put on his hakama on. This shirt and pants were uncomfortable at best! At least he looked like everyone else.

Sousuke spoke up. "Everyone, please meet my new friends. They are Inuyasha and Higurashi Kagome."

Mizuki took a break from latching onto Issei and looked at Inuyasha. She was hooked. HE WAS HOT! She instantly forgot about Issei.

Issei, on the other hand, was looking at Kagome. He thought to himself, she's not bad. A new crush.

They greeted each other. Kyouko took a picture of Inuyasha when she greeted him. Kagome as well of course.

"Owww.......what the hell was that!?" He swore he was seeing spots.

"A camera. Can't you see?" Kyouko said matter-of-factly.

"What the hell is that......" Inuyasha finally stopped the embarrassment when he asked Kagome to explain to him briefly what it was.

"Really....." Inuyasha was in deep thought. He did not want to offend anyone the first time they met, especially Sousuke's and Kaname's friends.

He turned to Kyouko. "Yo, I'm really bad with those things, but now it's got an image of me?" He pointed to her camera.

She smiled and nodded.

"May I see?" Inuyasha held out his hand. Kyouko placed her camera into his hands.

"Holy......you ARE right, Kagome! That's me! This thing is amazing!" Inuyasha exclaimed as he looked at the picture.

Kyouko was confused. How could anyone be so excited about the camera itself but not the picture? Disapppointment showed on her face.

Kagome saw it and explained quickly that Inuyasha was from the countryside, and he was only coming to visit. He knew of no technology. All his life had been spent in rural areas. Truth.

"Oh I see......" Kyouko acknowledged. "Inuyasha, I will make sure I will print out some of the pictures for you! You will like them, I'm sure." She was cheerful again.

"Oh, uh, thanks??." Inuyasha was making sure he was polite. He did not know what "print" meant, but he would ask Kagome later.

Kaname only laughed.

Mizuki was next in greeting Inuyasha. "Hi! I'm Mizuki! Do you have a girlfriend?" She looked at him, hoping for a "no".

Inuyasha was surprised at the question. He did not notice that Kagome was listening with one ear and leaning closer to him as a result.

The hanyou only stammered, "Uh, not really......." He blushed when he took a look at Kagome. She quickly went back to talking with Kyouko, trying to hide a glare. That two-timer!

Mizuki was too glad with his answer to notice anything else. "Wow, great!" She immediately planned how to get her and Inuyasha to sleep in the same room.

Issei then greeted Kagome. He flashed his brightest smile at her. "Hi, I'm Tsubaki Issei. Do you have a boyfriend?"

"Me?" Kagome only replied. She then took a look at Inuyasha, who was now talking to Shinji. She blushed. "Uh......"

"No? That's great!" Issei continued her sentence. He apparently took it as a "no". "I look forward to having a great time with you!" He did not realize that Kagome had not even offer a response.

"Yes......of course." Kagome choked out. She would make sure NOT to get near this guy. For HIS sake as well as for her own. She was freaked out a bit herself, but she mostly did NOT want Inuyasha to rip him into pieces. She hoped Inuyasha did not see that. Or heard that. Or even smelled that.

Ren was the last to greet both of them. Kagome immediately liked Ren. She was easy to approach. And the purple-haired girl always, always had a smile on her face that had ?serenity? written all over it. She was exactly what people would describe "the calm before the storm".

Inuyasha was impressed with Ren too. The girl carried herself with an elegance unseen since......Kikyo. She was a lot like her. Feminine and beautiful. She seemed so gentle and fragile, yet he could tell that she was not afraid of herself or anyone else in that matter. He came to realize that Ren was the first one other than Kagome who had any kind of resemblance to Kikyo. If Kagome had Kikyo?s looks and powers, then Ren had her personality and character.

He did not realize that he was staring at Ren. Until Kagome glared at him again. He was never that attracted to a girl before, aside from the two mikos of course.

He had some unfinished business though. He HAD overheard the conversation between Kagome and Issei. He glared at Issei when they shook hands.

Inuyasha snickered. "You seem to like Kagome? Don't you? I can smell it. And let me tell you what. She will never like you! You take one step too close to her, I will rip you into pieces! Got it!?" He cracked his knuckles and showed his claws.

Kagome swooned. Inuyasha not only heard it, he even smelled and saw it as well.

Issei was taken aback but immediately retorted, "She said she doesn't have a boyfriend, mister! Don't treat her like she is yours."

Inuyasha simply shouted, "Yes she is!! I will repeat myself: SHE IS MY WOMAN!!" That made Kagome blush, as well as all the other girls. Inuyasha did not even realize what he had said before. It all came out of pure animal instincts that were triggered to protect his possessions. Issei was now glaring at Inuyasha. Inuyasha continued, "And you WILL pay if you make advances toward her. I will smell you out, you moron!"

"INUYASHA!" Kagome realized that this could escalate. Tensions began to strain. This was exactly what she did not want. Her mouth was mouthing the word ?sit?.

"OK, Kagome." He forced himself to calm down. He knew he took it too far. And he did not want to be sat in front of his new friends. THAT won?t be a good first impression. But God, even Shippo was much less annoying than this guy! He looked at the karate club leader. "But you remember my words. You won't live a second longer if you do not."

Issei only walked away. He stopped when Kaname chipped in her words of wisdom.

"Tsubaki, if he meant it, you could be in even more trouble than getting into Sousuke's nerves......even Sousuke may not be able to defeat Inuyasha. He HAD once dodged a couple bullets from Sousuke. Bullets, Tsubaki. Inuyasha, you did bring your great sword, did you?"

What? That white-haired gangster-wannabe had a sword?

Kaname continued, "Besides, Kagome and Inuyasha ARE a pair. They just won't admit it!" She smiled, knowing those two would blush. They did. Sousuke noticed that their face color was the same as that of Inuyasha's hakama, had he wore it today. He then took off when he saw the van. He decided to make a last-minute check on his weapons and communication devices in the van.

"But....but they said......" Both Issei and Mizuki both uttered.

"They were in the same stage as Sousuke and I were a couple months ago. In denial. It takes time and guts to admit their love to each other!" Kaname replied as if she was Doctor Chidori, love psychologist with a PhD in that subject.

Blood continued to rush to Inuyasha's and Kagome's face.

Kaname decided to give them a break. Besides, Sousuke should be ready with the van as well as checking whether all his safety measures were ready to go. Sousuke parked in front of them just as she was looking for him. She announced, "Van is ready! Let's go!"

Tensions remained, however. Issei and Inuyasha took upon glaring each other for the duration of the trip when they were not talking. Issei now made Inuyasha his prime target instead of Sousuke. For now. He would duel him first.

Mizuki only whispered to Kagome as they took their seats in the van next to each other, "I will see whether you ARE his woman, because I want to be his......" She meant it as a joke of course, but Kagome saw that it could very well become a possibility. However, they got along with each other well and chatted amiably on the entire drive to the onsen along with the other girls.

It seemed like the only unhappy customers in the van were Inuyasha and Issei. Shinji sat in the front talking with Sousuke, brooding over the latest AS models and news. Sousuke was thoroughly entertained. Mithril could really use Shinji?s knowledge at some point.

Note: I actually did not plan this chapter at first, nor have I actually plan to bring Tsubaki in at first. But now it should be more fun at the onsen. And I love Ren! She would actually be more involved in the coming chapters, because she is so cute and feminine. And because I love this girl!!
