InuYasha/FMP crossover Chapter 9 (with revised poll)

Post by fookah »

Disclaimer: I own nothing. There.

Note: Shoot, I just figure out that my poll on my last entry doesn't make sense. Here is a revised poll. Ignore the one on the last entry. Whoever voted please do it again (only one so far). Sorry! I promise THAT will never happen again. Enjoy!

Chapter 9: Before the Onsen

It was three days since meeting Sousuke and Kaname. Kagome still had to attend school, which left Inuyasha alone to do the jewel/Gauln-searching. No success. Sousuke was right, it seemed. As unthinkable as it seemed, Gauln seemed to be anywhere except Japan. China, perhaps? That was the only other country he knew since he had to destroy a demon that his father had sealed in that country. No more leads. The hanyou was disappointed, but knew that things were never easy.

He sat perched on a tree that overlooked the entire Tokyo. He was around the vicinity of Mount Fuji. He had been here long enough to observe carefully people's lives in this era. Couple things stood out.

First, and it was the biggest surprise still, that people no longer had to fight for their lives. They were protected by what Kagome and Sousuke called "laws." One no longer had to kill to ensure his survival. Inuyasha could never imagine a day like that in his own era. Now all people were looking not for food and to survive, but for boyfriends, girlfriends, the newest clothes and those things that magically showed characters and numbers......he remembered what they were called now. Cell phones.

Life seemed so much better and enjoyable whey they did not have to worry about their safety all the time. It must be a remarkable adjustment for Kagome to come from this sheltered environment to his era where death and misfortunes were part of life.

He wondered about what would happen after he recaptured the jewel. What would he do with it? Would he become a full-fledged demon? Or human? Where would he go and what would he do afterwards?

His thoughts wandered to Kagome. Would he want to spend his life with her? The rest of his life with her? He knew she would still want to live in the modern era in the end. Would he be willing to come here to live with her as well? Or would he stick with his own era, since he was more used to it?

Another thought crept into his mind. Kagome. What did she meant to him?

Was she really someone he loved? He would absolutely murder anyone who would try to make advances on her. He knew that. But did he love her?

What about Kikyo? She now rested in peace after Naraku's defeat. She DID show love to him. Inuyasha was torn in half. One half to Kikyo, one half to Kagome. But one was also past, and one would be the present and perhaps the future.

Who would it be?

Kikyo wanted him to use the jewel to become a full human. Kagome did not ask him to do that. She accepted who he was. Did that mean Kagome may have loved him more than Kikyo? Wait, when did Kagome started loving me!?

Women! Such confusing animals!

He tried to train his thoughts on more important matters. Gauln. Where the heck could he find another lead? He kept bugging Kagome at times and asked whether Sousuke had called having any information on that evil man. Kagome threatened to sit him if he asked too many more times.

He slammed his fist down onto the branch he was sitting on. The branch broke and he had to scramble to jump to another tree.

He glanced at the view in front of him. Tokyo was so full of buildings that he had gotten used to by now. He preferred them to be trees, but the city was still beautiful. He imagined a future of Kagome and him walking hand-in-hand in that city.

He shook that thought out. That woman dilemma would have to wait.

He jumped onto the ground and searched for the sleeping bag that he brought with him. He decided to go a bit farther these couple days while Kagome was still at school. He had actually been gone since the day after he met Sousuke. He did not want the hassle of having to go back to Kagome's place everyday to rest, because he could never go far. It was more likely that he could find some kind of clues if he could go a little farther each time. He was used to wandering from place to place anyway. Besides, he did not like being under someone's hospitality for too long. He could accept Kagome's family's offer of food and shelter for some days, but not EVERYDAY. He had learned to rely on himself very early and often in his life.

It was not easy trying to reject the Higurashi family's generosity, however. Kagome, though, knew Inuyasha's intent and made a clever lie about how he had made new friends whose interests were camping in the outdoors. The family, however, still packed for Inuyasha lots and lots of food and other accessories. In the end Inuyasha hid all of them in Kagome's room and ordered her to sneak them back in. Under her advice, however, he did take the cell phone, in case of emergencies. So far, he had not had to use it yet. He hated the sounds of the phone anyway. When she taught him how to use the phone, the annoying sounds from the tiny object still left echos in his ears.

Kagome must be having a busy time trying to sneak them back in. Those supplies were enough for at least a village.

This was the third day, and there was nothing. It always sucked without Kagome around, and it only sucked even more when he located nothing that could help his objective. He was actually looking forward to go back to her home tomorrow.

Kagome. How is she doing?

------------------------------------------------------------

Kagome hated math. She showed it, rather unwillingly, by daydreaming. She had been caught by the teacher a couple of times. She HATED numbers, and she was glad that the Feudal Era had NOTHING to do with them.

This was the third day since Inuyasha started his "camping" trip. Her Mom insisted that she went with the half-demon, but Inuyasha said no. She had school, and he would be fine. Her Mom still scolded Kagome for being "selfish" after Inuyasha left. Thankfully, the scolding died down when Sota came in and showed off HIS math test scores. She wished she had some of her brother's math genes. At least her Mom stopped bugging her about the hanyou.

She was worried about him, even though she had every reason not to. No one could stop Inuyasha here in this era, not even Sousuke, who had admitted that Inuyasha was one of his toughest opponents. She was more worried that Inuyasha might start killing people instead.

No he would never do that. He may be a demon, but he was also a human. Someone with compassion.

She had always thought about calling his new cell phone, just wanting to hear his voice. She actually really missed him, especially when he was actually in the same era as she was. In HER era too.

She got through that dreadful math class. She has had a couple hard tests in the past two days, and she would have her last one the next period. Having no Inuyasha did meant one good thing. She was prepared for all her tests. She thought she did reasonably well on most of her tests. Aside from her math test yesterday, of course.

Before closing her eyes and setting her attention on this last test, she thought of one thing. Come back soon, Inuyasha. She smiled and took her test.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"Yes! All tests are over!"

Kagome was exclaiming at the top of her lungs on her bed after dinner. She decided to take a break from her studying. No reason to study that hard still. Now she wished Inuyasha was here to kill some time off for her. She went over to the phone in her room to call Inuyasha when her cell phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kagome?" The voice sounded familiar, but it was not from one of her friends in class.

"Hi......uh......" She was at a loss for words. It sounded really familiar. That's right! "Kaname!"

"Hey Kagome! Yeah it's me! What's up?" The blue-haired girl sounded cheerful.

"Not much, I just completed a batch of tests today! I feel so relieved now. I think I actually did really well on most of my subjects."

"That's good to hear! I got some great news!"

"What is it? Oh......did Sousuke proposed to you??"

"No, no, um, not yet......" Kaname blushed. She was glad that Kagome was on the other side of the phone. "No, I got free admission to an onsen! That onsen is an awesome place! I have been to it before and I really liked it. I'm sure you will like it, and I want to invite you and Inuyasha, Kagome."

"But.....if it's such a good onsen, wouldn't it be expensive?" Kagome sounded hesitant, albeit having a good reason.

"Yeah, but guess what? My Dad decided to reward Sousuke for what he had done during Spring Break when we visited my family, so he offered to pay for every expenses there! Isn't that great?"

"And you are inviting me?"

"Of course! We are friends, right?" Kagome was touched not at Kaname's generosity but at her friendliness. She only knew Kagome only for a couple days yet she was willing to invite her and Inuyasha free to a good onsen.

Kaname continued, "And please, no more of those 'I will pay for myself and Inuyasha thing' either. I made up my mind that you are invited only on the condition that you are willing to go for free."

Kagome understood. "OK, Kaname, have it your way. I will go, but I will have to tell Inuyasha about it......"

"Isn't he staying at your place?"

"Well, he now went off on his own to search for Gauln. He decided that wandering around may give him a better chance. He hasn't been home for two days now. Counting today it will be three. He promised that he will be back tomorrow though."

"That's OK, I'm planning that we haul our butts to the onsen next Thursday, so feel free to tell him later."

"I will, Kaname."

"And......how is it going with him?" Kaname snickered.

"Uh, um.....we have nothing between us! I swear!" Kagome was blushing bright red.

"DENIAL!" Kaname broke into laughter. She sincerely asked Kagome, ?You do miss him, do you? I can tell.?

Kaname was sharp, Kagome realized. ?Yes, I do.? That was all she said.

?Don?t worry, he will come back. If he can fend off Sousuke, he can fend off anyone!? Kaname?s cheerful personality once again brightened Kagome?s mood.

?You are right! Besides, I do have the rare times when Inuyasha is not bugging me???

?Bugging? I thought it was hugging.? Kaname joked.

Kagome blushed. ?Uh, um???

?Don?t worry, it will be fine.? The blue-haired dynamo decided to let the miko off. For now. "Anyway, I will call you a couple days later about the arrangements. It will be fun!? Kaname was definitely looking forward to it.

?Of course! It should be great!?

They went on to talk about their days. Kagome wanted to know more about Kaname and Sousuke, but just at the moment that she wanted to ask, Kaname said she had to go. Sousuke was at her door, waiting for help on his Japanese History homework. Again. Kaname sounded exasperated, but Kagome knew that the she enjoyed it anyhow. That could wait till the onsen.

They hung up. Kagome decided to do a light studying anyway. It wouldn't hurt. And hey, since Inuyasha was here, there would always be less time that she could use to study anyway. Might as well......maybe she could remember more when there was no pressure on her from knowing that the test would be tomorrow or the day after. She decided to tackle math. The thought of onsen inspired her to study her worst subject.

Onsen......hot springs......beautiful weather.......lovely scenery........sleeping together with Inuyasha......

Wait a minute! Take that last thought out!

Kagome blushed just at the thought. Perhaps, however, she could help her love life at the onsen......

She focused on her math. She was surprised that she indeed studied a lot better than usual. As she turned off the lights and went to bed, she wished a quick prayer for Inuyasha to come back soon and soon slept soundly without a worry in the world. Math and sleep that night seemed to come awfully easy with the onsen in her mind.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurz and Melissa was ordered to Kalinin's office. It was Wednesday.

Kurz was clearly irritated. "What now from that old man?" And looking at Melissa, "Never mind that, babe, I can still check out your sweet-looking ass......"

Melissa was clearly not in the mood for games. If Kalinin called them in, something must be happening. Could it be Sousuke? Again? That young man had a penchant for getting into really big trouble. "Kurz, one more look and you will be looking into YOUR ass!" Kurz made the cardinal mistake of staring at Melissa's ass for too long. Or any part of Melissa's body in that matter. Kurz had a talent in THAT.

"OH COME ON, Melissa, you know you look good and you will have to make some concessions to men like me who thirst for your beauty and fullness......"

Melissa gave him a boot to the face. She waited for him to stand up and shake the dizziness, then gave him a powerbomb. Undertaker-style.

Kurz yelped, "OKOK!!" His look would have made even the coldest billionaire pitied him.

Melissa smiled. Serves you right.

They got to Kalinin's office and saluted. Kalinin saluted back and proved Melissa's predictions right. Partly.

"Intel have reported that Gauln had been working for Amalgam once again, and they are working on some kind of device deep in a forest. And that forest......" Kalinin stroked his chin, "is coincidentally the same area where Sergeant Sagara and friends will go to their onsen trip at."

"Sir, have you informed Urzu-7?" Melissa asked. Even Kurz straightened up. This was NOT the time for jokes, how matter how juicy Melissa's ass looked. Their boy Sousuke could be in trouble again.

"Yes, Sergeant Major. I allowed him to tell Miss Chidori as well, since she may be more able to prevent their friends from getting dragged into this whirlwind than Sergeant Sagara. As a precautionary measure, I will ask that you two join their group as well. If nothing happens, hopefully so, then you get to enjoy two to three days of free vacation that would not be counted out of your actual amount of vacation days."

"Yes, sir!" Both lower-ranked officers answered.

"I will allow you to bring your M9s. Arbalest can be launched if situation dictates. It will be up to you. I do not know how serious this can become, so it is up to your judgement. Report to me everyday once. That will be it. Dismissed."

Kurz and Melissa saluted Kalinin and walked out of the room. Kurz was back to his normal self. "Wow, free vacation at an onsen, and a chance to look at hot girls who are going through puberty or are just hot......" Kurz was licking his lips.

Melissa put Kurz in a headlock. She gave him a neckbreaker for good measure. Melissa licked HER lips and whispered to Kurz, "THAT, Kurz old boy, is the Melissa Stunner. Hurts, huh? What do you want next? The Mao Bomb? Or the Walls of Mao?"

Kurz only muttered back, "The Mao Bomb? From your sweet ass?"

Melissa was steamed after hearing that and gave him another power bomb ("That's the Mao Bomb!") and finally locked out his legs with her new Walls of Mao. She was stretching his groin so hard that he actually screamed, "AH, my lifeline! Don't take my descendants away!"

Melissa only cackled. "Cheer up, you are still alive!" Her look said it would be otherwise five minutes later.

The look on Kurz's face was plain pitiful. Scrunched up in agony. Melissa finally let go.

"Kurz old boy, if you do that to Kaname, she AND Sousuke will kill you. And you least want Sousuke to get on a killing rampage......"

Kurz figured he would have to find a way to elude Sousuke. He only wondered if Mao would ask Sousuke to set up all the mines and sentry guns again like last time.

I just had to vote for comedy. Action is nice, but comedy is priceless.
The good writers touch life often. The mediocre ones run a quick hand over her. The bad ones rape her and leave her for the flies.

It could be worse, you could be a character in a John Steinbeck novel.

I want to die as my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Unlike the three other people screaming in the car.
