What to know about anime fandom and me... Well, I started with Sailor Moon a long time ago on Toonami (big surprise) and from there went to Gundam Wing. GW was what really cemented me as an anime fan in the all-encompassing meaning of the phrase as opposed to just liking one show.
I then went to Fushigi Yuugi, DBZ (so over that), Blue Seed, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ranma 1/2, Escaflowne (I consider this to be the best television anime series I've ever seen), Inu Yasha, Trigun (but this one is my favorite), Cowboy Bebop, and I just finished Fruits Basket and am up to date & waiting on the fansubs of Naruto.
I fell absolutely in love with Fruits Basket, by the way. I liked or loved many of the shows I just mentioned, but FB is fresh in my mind and I'm in love with it.
Sadly, I'm often behind on manga. The only manga I've even close to being caught up on is Ranma 1/2. I don't read the Naruto manga beyond the anime because I like the anime to be a weekly surprise. And I currently can't afford all the manga for Fruits Basket and Trigun.
However, I did get the first 3 volumes of One Piece for my birthday last Friday. Vastly entertaining.
What do I like for couples and ships and pairings?
Heero/Relena- One of my first anime ships. Still love them.
Faye/Spike- It's probably because Faye had all this characterization and Julia had none. And Faye is the underdog suffering unrequited love and that's my hold over from Buffy t Vampire Slayer fandom where I spent the last two years almost ignoring anime, because really Faye is so like BtVS!Spike. And if BtVS!Spike could get Buffy in the end, then dang it Faye can get Spike Spiegel. Also, Spike is hot. Both of them.
Kyou/Tohru- Cutest thing in the world. Actually, I wasn't sure who she should be with more until almost the end. Although I was immediately more charmed by Kyou and thus wanted him to get her, I have to admit that Yuki is a great character too, very funny, and Tohru really likes him. But I think the way the anime ended was more Kyouru-ish, and I'm excited to see where the manga goes when I get a chance to purchase some of it.
Hitomi/Van- oh like I need to explain this. Who else is Van going to go with, Allen? I think he'd rather impale himself on the family broadsword. And Allen totally doesn't deserve Hitomi. And Hitomi didn't seem to fond of Milerna.
Also, there's that teensy weensy tiny little thing of Van and Hitomi's beautiful lovestory stretching out over 26 episodes and making me angst about one couple's uncertain future more than any other in anime yet.
Kagome/IY - I could say I'm Kikyou/IY too, because Kikyou and Kagome are the same person when you get down to it, but that usually confuses people when I say both.
Sango/Miroku - It's sexy and pervy and fun.
Vash/Meryl - Oh the reasons are endless. Also, not so much into yaoi so that kinda narrows it. But really, reasons are endless.
Milly/Wolfwood - ::cries:: It's so...and she was so... and he was...! ::cries::
and for stuff not on the board...
Tasuki/Miaka (FY) - I liked Tamahome until the second OAVs, and then it was Tasuki all the way, even retroactively. Still haven't seen Eikoden OAVs.
Naruto/Sakura (Naruto) - They think exactly alike. It's adorable. And Naruto is the hero and he likes Sakura so I want him to get Sakura. Also, Sasuke is too self-involved to notice either of them.
Kakashi/anyone-but-Iruka,-even-villains-like-for-instance-Kabuto (Naruto) - I just like Kakashi. ::shrug:: I read fic with him paired with anyone, het or yaoi. Except Iruka, because that always goes horribly OOC.
Kusanagi/Momiji (BS) - Yep, I'm a canon baby most of the time. Except Fushigi Yuugi. And sort of CB, dependign on interpretations.
Ranma/Akane (R.5) - Pretty much canon on this too.
Bulma/Vegeta- I went through a Vegeta phase. Who doesn't?
Anyway, that's what I like for pairings and couples. Hope that wasn't too long an explanation.
Random parting comment: I picked this avatar icon because Kyou's face is showing exactly the expression I had most of today. Most of this week. That expression, right there.

I'm not so sure that would work considering the whole experiment incident in the past. *whispers* Besides, I like Millernia with Dreyden...
