Chapter eight- An Alliance?
The rains slowly eased as corpses were piled up, it couldn?t be helped that darkness still covered the landscape. Fires littered the fields, fueled by wood and the bodies of the dead. The stench of the dead never fumed worse as each men covered their mouths and noses with pieces of cloth.
The fallen king though remained standing, staring upon each fire, the short haired girl leaning upon him, trying to cover her eyes from all that was occurring. She gently pushed herself off of the fallen king, leaning over to the side, she began to throw up, and holding her stomach as a tear slowly ran down her cheek.
The fallen king crouched beside her, running his hand upon her back as he whispered softly, ?Are you alright??
The short haired girl smiled slightly to him, falling upon her knees, resting her form upon his chest as the winds moved upon them, ?Hai... Daijoubu desu??
She sniffed the cool air as she nodded her head against his chest, trying to ignore the horrible stench surrounding them, she sighed softly in comfort. The fallen king leaned back upon the soft earth, holding the short haired girl in his arms, as if not wishing to ever let her go again, he smiled to himself.
The short haired girl straightened herself, taking the fallen king?s hand; she beamed a smile towards him, followed by a cough as she placed her hand upon her nose and mouth. The fallen king stood up slowly, taking out a small piece of cloth and placing it upon the short haired girl?s hand, she nodded her thanks as he placed it upon her face, trying to breathe through it.
He led her slowly to the back of the fort, where the stench couldn?t reach them. The short haired girl dropped the piece of cloth as she took in a deep breath, closing her eyes, then turning back towards the fallen king; a soft giggle escaped her lips.
The fallen king tilted his head as he trailed her lips then smiled as well, moving a step towards her, his voice soft and tired, ?Your hair? it?s still short??
?I had it cut only a few weeks ago?? She touched her hair, pulling it back a bit, a few drops of water dripping down.
She looked over her body for a moment, her clothes wet from the rains, she sighed softly, shrugging as she took a step closer to the fallen king, ?Well? your hair has grown.?
He looked a bit upon his hair, then shrugging slightly, his eyes returned to the short haired girl as she giggled once again, a soft laugh escaping his lips.
Then, silence moved through them as their eyes locked upon each other. The short haired girl took in a gulp as the fallen king shifted his form a bit, an uncomfortable silence. They trailed each other?s form with their eyes as they moved a step closer to each other. Slowly, the smile disappeared from the short haired girl as a sorrowful look covered her eyes.
Tears began to roll down her cheeks once again as she quickly moved towards the fallen king, wrapping her arms around him, trying to dry her tears upon his soaked shirt. She raised one hand and started beating it against his chest, whispering softly through sobs, ?Why did you let me go??
Maybe it was just the joy of seeing him once again, though her words never really made any sense. Could it have been helped, that he could?ve forced her to stay? It was impossible at best, unthinkable at worst. She continued on, crying out his name, how sorrowful she had been for loosing him, how every night, she dreamt of being by his side once again.
The fallen king gently ran his hand down her back, holding her by her waist; he pulled her closer to him as he fell silent, unsure of what to say, uncertain of his situation. Indeed, he had always cared for her, always have tried to find a way to be with her, always had? loved her.
The sun had settled upon the horizon as the skies showed of a dark orange hue. The short haired girl still remained upon his warm embrace, shaking her head against him, beating her fist against his form.
She tilted her head back to look upon his eyes, her voice a vague whisper, ?I blame you for making me feel this way.? She moved her head closer as she continued, ?Please tell me this is not another dream.?
The fallen king nodded slowly, ?No, this is not a?? His voice was cut off as he stared upon her eyes, her smile returning as she nodded as well to him.
If only they could live alone in this embrace, if only time stood still for them. They had remained in each others arms for what seemed to be an eternity, at least it would have been.
The sound of horns resonated once more as each man began to move in their positions. The fallen king released the short haired girl as he took her hand. They quickly moved into the fort, as the long haired man approached them then raised his hand, his voice even as he shouted were as smooth as silk.
?Stop!? He raised his arm as each man looked upon him, each of them stopping in their tracks.
They looked out upon the field as white armored men in steeds approached, followed by a legion wearing the same armor as the cavalry. The legion halted though the men in steeds moved forth at a slow pace, raising up a white, unmarked banner.
The long haired man moved forth from the fields as the famous swordsman followed. The fallen king released the short haired girl?s hand as he as well followed the two. The short haired girl tried to follow but the fallen king turned quickly, beckoning her to stay. The three moved slowly out of the walls, staring out upon the white armored legion.
The men on horseback paused a few steps from them, dismounting, they moved towards the three as the figure which seemed to be their lead took out a scroll, though he didn?t even bow to show respect.
?Duke Cassidy Deftblade, of the country of Raicor!? He paused as he looked upon the long haired man, ?I presume you are him.?
?Your presumption is correct.? The long haired man nodded in reply, resting his arm upon the hilt of his blade.
The lead of the white armored legion took notice of his arm, then shook his head slowly, ?No need for caution, Duke Deftblade. We only came to speak to you.?
?And what does the White Guard wish from us?? The long haired man shifted his form, though he let his arm remain upon the hilt of his blade.
?We would wish to offer you? a small deal.? The lead of the white armored legion presented the scroll, ?It would be best for your? ragtag rebellion to consider Emperor Alarcon, Lord of all Gaea to??
The long haired man threw the scroll away, stepping upon it, he stared upon the larger man, ?I recognize no ?Emperor Alarcon?, only a ?Baron Alarcon?. How dare he declare himself lord of all in this time of despair??
The white armored legion?s lead raised his brow as he smirked towards the long haired man, ?You have given us your reply??
?What?s going on?!? The fallen king held a tight grip upon the hilt of his blade, pulling it out a bit, revealing a part of the dull, cracked blade.
The long haired man raised his arm slightly as the fallen king took his calm, straightening his stance; he quietly eyed the lead of the white armored legion.
?You have our reply? Now leave us!? The long haired man turned, not giving any courtesy to the larger man.
Soft breath escaped the white armored legion?s lead?s lips as he shook his head, turning back towards his steed as the others followed him as well, sounds of hooves and marching resonated once again through the fields.
?Was that wise, Cassidy?? The famous swordsman moved beside him, his voice bearing uncertainty.
?I will not trade one tyrant for another?? The long haired man?s simple reply as he nodded slightly towards the fallen king then moved off towards the battlements.

Never Alone (P1 of 3, 8/9)
A man is not a man until he has accessed his raw untamed energy and takes pleasure to his capacity to fight and defend himself. Only then can he transform his blind rage into power to commit himself, to handle tensions and to make difficult decisions. Inner security also develops. It is based on his realization that whatever goes wrong, he can get help from his inner resources, from the basic energy of his aggression.

I like that van and hitomi are together again, but really, what the heck is going on? This thing is confusing! Instead of you using names for known characters, you use them for new ones. WHAT?? is the deal?
