Kagome sat on her bed, looking out at the stars. Their light was comforting, but something was missing. She sighed heavily and leaned her head on her hands. A hannyou?her hannyou. It was too late to visit; maybe she would dream of him tonight. ?Goodnight Inuyasha?? she whispered, her jet-black hair falling into her eyes as she lay back in her bed.

Inuyasha ran as fast as he could, slashing at Naraku. Thick vines coiled around his legs and he fell flat on his face, warm blood filling his nostrils. He snarled and cut the vines away.
?Pathetic hannyou. Do you really think you can defeat me?? Naraku said with a smirk, his red eyes glowing with malice.
Naraku was right. Inuyasha couldn?t kill him. Not without purifying Miko powers. He wondered if Kikyo could sense his need for her help. Trying to catch her scent, he realized with a grimace that she was nowhere nearby. Maybe Kagome would still come. She always seemed to know when he needed her. She always knew what he needed?but as Naraku stabbed a hand through Inuyasha?s shoulder, he doubted even she would get here in time. Blood soaked through his tunic and he fell to the ground.

?Ka?gome?? he gasped out, his strength waning.

People run
Sun to sun
Caught in their lives ever flowing
Once begun, life goes till it?s gone

Kagome pedaled on her bicycle towards the sounds of a struggle. ?Inuyasha!!!? she cried out. She sensed something was wrong. Even if it was late, she had to see him and make sure everything was alright. Steering into a wooded glade, her fears were realized. Inuyasha was in a bloody heap on the ground with Naraku?s insect-like form hovering over his body.
?Inuyasha!!!? Kagome yelled, Naraku hearing her voice.
Naraku tilted his head towards her and smirked.
?Ah?so you?ve come to meet your demise just like your beloved Inuyasha.? he stated, his serpentine form inching towards her.
Kagome felt afraid, but she had to help Inuyasha?or avenge him. Her heart pounded, fearing Naraku had killed him. She pulled her bow from off her shoulder and fitted an arrow to it. Tears were in her eyes. She hadn?t been there to save Inuyasha when he needed her. She shot the arrow at Naraku, dissolving a small spot on his arm.
?Get away from him!!!!? she yelled, tears filling her eyes.
She shot at Naraku again, and he simply smiled.
?Go ahead and kill me. It won?t bring him back. You?re all that?s left, girl. Give me the shards I require and I will perhaps spare your life.?
Kagome didn?t respond immediately. Was it true? Was Inuyasha dead? And the others? Sango, Miroku, Shippo?Naraku smiled.
?I?ll give you some time to consider surrender. It must be difficult to lose someone you care about.? he said with an evil smirk.
In a moment, he was gone. Kagome looked down at Inuyasha with a sad smile. She held him close, blood staining her own clothing.
?Inuyasha?I?m sorry. I?m sorry I couldn?t be here for you. Inuyasha?I love you.? Kagome whispered, starting to cry.
Suddenly Inuyasha?s eyes fluttered open.
?Kagome??? he questioned, his ears folded back against his head.
?I thought you were dead!? she exclaimed, running her hands through his hair.
?Feh it would take a lot more than that to kill me. Are you ok??
?Idiot? Kagome thought. ?He took so much damage and yet he?s asking me how I am??
?Kagome I just wanted to say?thanks I guess. Seems I?m stuck with you coming to fight my battles so I might as well get used to it.? he said haughtily, crossing his arms.
?Ugh?Inuyasha?!?
Inuyasha?s ears folded back to his head and he cowered away.
?No don?t say it!? he whimpered.
Kagome shook her head and smiled.
?No. Come here.? she said kindly, holding out her hands.
Inuyasha didn?t quite know what to think but he trusted her, so painfully he moved close to her. Kagome placed her hands on his shoulders and looked into his amber eyes. Inuyasha looked deep into her eyes and saw she?d been crying. Crying over him. He looked away as she moved her hands up to his neck and touched his rosary beads. She gently lifted her hands to his face, caressing his cheek gently.
?You really got hurt??
?Kagome I?ll be ok! Don?t?? and he clasped her hand in his.
She didn?t want to pull away.
?Inuyasha??
?Yes???
And reaching for one another they kissed gently.
And you say you see
