Disclaimer: I don't own the show. I don't remember ever claiming to, actually. :P So, this is a wack fic, I know, but I've shied from humor for a moment to reflect upon a new depth in my writing. Hopefully, this is a good thing. O_o AND...it's short. They'll all be, I think. So huzzah???

The beaten path was all but unfamiliar to her delicate step and pleasant air. While the wind toyed with the amber leaves that gathered among the forest floor, she glanced at the world from behind impossibly blue skies. The breeze, pleased with the texture of her golden tresses, danced with them merrily as she paused.

Atop the ground, a pair of dainty unclad feet melted into the Earth as if into an encompassing embrace. Her limbs made the sturdy trees around her whine in jealousy as she moved with power and grace along the plaint green of the forest floor. A flower budded on each cheek; or such similar beauty, and her lips were envied by even the reddest of roses. An impeccable smile parted her blossoms as she lifted a hand to weave itself around the branch of a tree.

Without a breath of protest, she was nestled within the sycamore?s bosom, and she let the song of the gently rolling sea (but a few miles away) lull her into a pleasant abyss of dreamless sleep.

Suddenly startled by some noise, she stirred. A friend with hooded black eyes and quivering wings beckoned to her from a tree beside the one in which she resided.

An owl.

A warning.

A man in the woods.

Would ever a look place fright and sorrow upon one, hers would make even the most self-righteous mourn.

For he was back, and she was afraid.

The sharpness of his arrow could only be put to shame by his keen sight. His hands were swift; his aim true. His talent boasted of its own accord, for not once in his many killings had he uttered a sound.

Though his step quiet, the forest floor did not welcome it. His scent drove the wind away?trying desperately to return his aroma to its own place?where humans resided with their hands tainted of her loved ones. A wolf would not even have the foul odor of the one beneath her. He polluted her lungs with un-breathable poison.

Attached to him, however, she detected a hint of sweetness. It clung to him as if it were an ally?a protector. His shield. Shield or no, she would be rid of him this day. He would not kill another of her creatures. She stirred once more?moving aside her leaves to see him more clearly. His arrow was drawn and ready; its sleek frame gleamed with what little light had permeated through the canopy.

The breeze did not play with his hair as it did hers. Nor did his hair mold into an exquisite golden dream of which kings and queens wished they could posses. Instead, his locks covered his face as if they were weeds. His color she could only compare to the Earth after a rainy day. Vaguely, she wondered if the sweetness of the rain is what she had smelled from him.

With silence by her side, she stood, suddenly, behind him and opened her mouth to speak.

?Whom do you seek, hunter??

Swiftly, he moved his arrow towards the honey-like voice that ebbed into his overly-aware ears. The tip of the hunter?s weapon glistened off the pale hue of her skin as it was pressed menacingly close to her flesh. A solid silver arrow, she noted. Then this human man was only after one creature. Her question was answered; this man was after a unicorn. Her soft eyes narrowed as his weapon kept its stance.

He held his aim.

Bob is my avatar. wicked made it for me. She is basically to-the-limit. Except she's bereft. And that is so sad.

Drop it. Like it is hot.

Very intriguing beginning, and I agree: the style you're implementing is perfect for fantasy and mythology. I'm anxious to see where this is headed. Great job so far... I'll be watching for the next part.

The Importance of Tomorrow:

The clarity of the hindsight we obtain from a new day may be 20/20, but it provides us with biased knowledge of the experiences and emotions that were-- Not what could have been, if only we had the chance to look through those premonitory eyes.

I like it! I can't wait to see more, and the details of everything really is a great scene for fantasy.
