The Pain Within Part 7
She passed trees and bushes with speed no man ever knew. She controlled her powers more then ever now.
She was gaining on him, not to long now.
She jumped into the air at the exact moment and caught the creature that had run in front of her.
Tonight she would eat deer.
After she had prepared her meal, she started a fire to heat it up.
She turned the stake a few times so the deer would turn a perfect golden-brown color.
Relena leaned back against a tree.
She had learned that deer didn't taste that bad on a empty stomach, it tasted quit good actually.
After the deer was completely done, she took it off the fire. "Eat or be eaten my friend." She said before she bit into it's flesh.
After a nice long meal Relena decided it was time to rest.
She had looked for food in this forest for hours. Food was not as easy to find as she thought at first.
Life was simple in the forest, there were just a few things to think of; food, water and a save place to sleep.
Relena liked it here, the serenity of the place was overwhelming, which calmed her troubled spirit still in battle with the aliens DNA. And quite frankly, it was loosing it's battle.
Relena didn't feel much emotion, the old Relena would feel sorry to eat the deer now resting in her stomach. But the new Relena didn't care for anything else but her own survival. To be honest, she liked being this way. No need to think about others, don't have to worry about how everybody is doing at home, just herself. It made everything a lot simpler, her mind relaxed just a bit more then it could usually.
Relena decided to take some rest and lowered herself to the ground.
She closed her eyes and sleep took over not long after that.
She woke up at the first rays of sunshine. Her legs steadied as she stood.
She inhaled a deep fresh breath before she made her way towards the river to take a nice fresh dive in the cold water.
She took off her clothes before slowly stepping into the water.
Cold waves touched her skin, and goose bumps appeared. But she didn't care, the cold water felt refreshing like it cleaned her fighting soul from all it's sins.
With one swift motion she took a deep breath and dove in the rest of the way.
She opened her eyes underwater and watched as she passed plants and branches. She did this ritual every morning since her emotions had gone.
She looked on as she entered the now familiar cave. It's walls were covered in a green substance giving it a filthy appearance.
The clear blue water was beautiful, Relena could see what was above it.
She passed openings and small cracks in the caves walls until she reached an large open spot. She stopped moving and laid down at the bottom and hid behind a few plants.
She waited there for a few seconds until she saw the thing she came to see for the last few days.
A large fish like creature entered the cave. It's large body looked like that of a shark, but it's tail vin looked like that of a dolphin. It had 4 other fins, 2 right behind it's head and another 2 at about the half of it's body.
The fins moved in slow walking kind of movements, giving the fish a calm appearance.
Whenever the fish turned, it's colors would change when the light shone on it in another way. From purple, to blue to even red sometimes.
Not long after the fish entered, another one did.
The 2 fish swam around the open spot in the cave for a minute before turning their swimming into a beautiful dance.
The fish turned around each other swimming upward twirling in union like a slow underwater tornado. Then they would stop swimming and slowly float to the ground.
The dance continued in the same movements, until both fish changed colors at the exact same moment, in the exact same color. From purple to blue, to yellow and then into red.
When they turned red, the changing would stop and both fish would float to the ground and lay there for a few seconds until starting to dance in a different way.
They touched heads, and turn around, never breaking contact. They turned faster and faster until you no longer could see that there were 2 fish, you saw just one.
Relena was amazed everytime she saw the dance, that 2 fish, who looked so calm and gentle, could swim this fast.
The 2 fish started to glow, and a flash of light temporarily blinded Relena.
When the light subsided, the fish had become one batch of millions of tiny eggs.
The dance, was not just a dance, it was the way these fish mated.
Relena loved to watch these kind of fish mate, it showed her that there was still kindness and good in the world. Because the 2 fish wanted to let their species survive, so they sacrifice themselves for their children.
There is nothing more beautiful then that.
Relena took a deep breath when she hit the surface. Everytime she went down there, she forgot she had to breathe. She almost choked when she found out she had been down there for nearly 5 minutes.
She climbed on shore and laid down into the grass to dry. That was also one of the things she had learned here, do not put on your working clothes when your wet!
Relena stared upwards she saw some trees and a few tiny hints of a blue sky.
It didn't take long for her to dry, after all she was in a rainforest.
She pulled up her clothes and decided it was time for breakfast.
Relena headed towards the north and counted her paces. '13, 14, 15 and now 10 paces to the left.' She said in her mind. After the 10 paces, and then another 10 paces. She reached a giant tree. She jumped onto the lowest branch and skillfully jumped onto another.
When she reached the top, she grasped as much berries as she could and then climbed down.
She returned to the river and started to eat the berries.
After she had fainted because of the berries she ate 3 days ago, she had tried numbers of berries to find out which were dangerous and which weren't.
She had easily found out that the berries on most bushes where dangerous and knocked her out for several hours.
However the berries high up in the trees were perfectly fine to eat, only tasted nasty.
She washed her hand in the river after she had finished her meal and decided to start hunting for her evening meal.
She picked up her weapon she had used yesterday and walked towards the south were, she had learned, were the most animals.
Her weapon was a long spear like thing. She made it out of a sharpened stone and a long branch. She had found a few plants like the one Chance gave her and had used them to attach the stone to the branch.
Relena seated herself on her usual hunting spot and waited for the animals to show themselves.
It took hours before finally an Ellig appeared.
Relena had called it an Ellig because it looked like an Elephant crossed with a Pig. It was the size of a pig, but had an long trunk as a nose. As well as big ears and a small pig-tail. The creature was hilarious to look at.
Relena shifted her body just a bit to get her position just right for her attack. Unfortunately the Ellig heard her and run off before Relena could even react. "Stupid big ears." She mumbled under her breathe.
Not long after the Ellig had run off, Relena heard a terribly loud growling sound. It was nothing compared to the "Black Demon's" ability's.
Relena's eyes moved in all directions and tried to find the source of the sound.
Again the growling interrupted her trail of thoughts, and this time she was able to pinpoint the location.
Curiosity killed the cat, and it might kill Relena one day, cause she decided to take a look.
She crossed the open spot in the forest as low as she could, hoping not to be seen. She stalked between plants and bushes until she once more reached the trees. She decided to discover who produced the sound from the trees, considering it might be a large predator who might think of her like a small snack.
Relena climbed in the nearest tree and jumped from branch to branch, slowly moving towards the sound.
It didn't take her long until she reached the creature.
Relena's eyes widened, not even in her wildest dreams had she seen something this dangerous but still so beautiful.
Before her lay a dragon, a 25 feet long dragon.
It's long claws had dug in the ground, and it's eyes were pressed closed.
It looked like it was in pain.
After further inspection she saw a large wound on it's side. Like something larger then him took a bite out.
Relena gulped, she couldn't take much more of these strange creatures. Especially not something larger then the dragon.
Again a loud growling sound got her attention, only this time it was not the dragon before her who made the sound.
The dragon opened his eyes swiftly and looked up. The dragon's black eyes widened in fear. Relena gazed upwards and found another dragon flying in the sky. It's siluet leaving a large shadow over the 2 below it.
Relena knew what was going to happen, the dragon would come down and kill the dragon before her.
She would not interfere, it was killed or be killed in this world. The survival of the fittest, it's as simple as that.
Relena turned to leave, she would not watch the dragon get killed.
The dragon made a blood chilling sound, it had so much fear in it that it made Relena's heart skip, twice.
Relena turned and everything slowed down, she didn't hear anything, she only saw how the large dragon came down from the skies. He came in for the kill. She felt angre bubble up inside her, a motherly instinct telling her to save this creature. The feeling was so strong she could not think, she could not do anything else but act on her emotions.
She jumped from the tree, and landed on her feet gracefully. With full speed she raced towards the wounded dragon. She reached it just in time before the larger dragon had reached the dragon on the floor.
Relena did not think, nore did she know what she was doing, but before she knew it she had slammed her fist against the ground. She raised and with it the pulled up a piece of stone that turned into a shining blade.
Relena could not stare in wonder at the miracle she had just witnessed, and done by herself even.
Her instincts took over and she raised the blade above her head and slashed.
She did not see what she hit, but she knew it.
The sound the creature produced was overwhelming her senses. So much emotions swirled through her system, pride, joy, sadness and quilt. Everything mixed together in a few seconds, until it ebbed away until she felt nothing.
Relena opened her eyes to witness the chaos she created. She had cut the larger dragon right in the stomach. Guts were lying on the floor. And the dragon had fallen right next to her. It's stomach was completely open. Relena looked at the sword in her hand, this could not be just an ordinary one. And where did it came from? Did she pull it from the ground? But how? How did she know it was there? All these unanswered questions remained until the sword turned back into a small kind of stone. Relena released it, and it dropped to the ground, just like an ordinary stone. She had actually expected it to keep hovering in front of her eyes.
"Thank you." A heavy low voice next to her called.
Relena turned and met deep black eyes. "You're welcome." She said calmly.
Relena turned to leave the dragon but it's pain stricken voice called to her frozen heart.
"I see you have the power of metal."
Relena frowned. "What do you mean?"
"You do not know?"
"No." Was her reply.
"You are able to create metal objects out of anything, like that sword you made out of solid rock. Didn't that strike you as odd." The dragon chuckled at his own joke but started coughing and his face twisted in the pain it caused.
"You are Enterran are you not?" He asked when the pain had subsided.
Relena, still with her back towards the dragon was completely in awe. 'Enterran?'
"Enterran?" She replied to the dragon, only turning her head slightly so she could look at him.
"You do not know you have Enterrran blood running through your veins?"
Relena grew silent for a few seconds until replying. "I am not Enterran, I am Human."
"Human? You mean those creatures from planet Earth?"
"Yes, how do you know?"
"We know nearly everything up here, you are on Enterra."
"Enterra, is that what this forest is called?"
Laughter rumbled from the dragon's belly, but once again his face turned in pain.
"No, you're on the planet Enterra, 300 million light-years away from Earth."
Relena did not know what to say. 'I'm on another planet?'
"You didn't question you're whereabouts when you first saw the creatures on this planet?"
Relena chuckled, she had to give him that, she didn't.
"How come you're human while you have Enterran blood. I can sense you're not 100% Enterran."
Relena sighed. "A man on my planet had some off the Enterran DNA, and has done experiments with humans. There bodies absorbed the DNA and turned them Enterran."
The dragon said nothing.
"Tell me, what are Enterran's like?"
"I would if I had the time, I don't think I'll survive much longer, unless." The dragon stopped, he was definitely doubting.
"Unless what? Tell me, I want to help." She even amazed herself with that statement, she could not resist his eyes.
"Unless you have a pure heart, with you're heart you could heal me."
Relena questioned herself, did she have a pure heart?
"How do I know if I have one?"
"We do not know unless we try."
"What happens if I don't?"
"I die."
Relena grew silent. "I don't think I have a pure heart."
"Well, I'll die anyway." The dragon replied.
Relena sighed deeply before replying.
"What do I do?"
"It's simple, you place your hands on my wound and concentrate really hard on healing the wound. You have to visiolize your gole and make the kill as I always say." The dragon chuckled once more even though the pain must be overwhelming.
Relena thought back to how she concentrated with Gaia, this should not be this different.
"I'll try." She said before placing herself near the dragon's wound.
She concentrated on the center of the wound, staring at it. She relaxed her muscles and closed her eyes. She thought about the wound healing, about how it would grow shut.
Unknown to her, her hands started to glow and the wound started to heal.
Before Relena could visualize the wound being healed the dragon called to her. "Thank you."
She opened her eyes and didn't even find a scar.
"I did that?" She asked amazed.
"Yes you did. Now I'll tell you about the Enterrans."
Relena nodded and sat down besides the dragon.
The dragon told about the Enterran's, they looked like humans. The only thing different was that they existed longer then humans did. Their bodies had evolved, they were more intelligent, stronger, faster and each had their special ability. Like Relena she had learned she had the power of metal. But other also had powers, like the power of water, love, fire etc. The Enterrans were a peace loving kind race. They did not want to do anybody harm. Their planet was filled with animals and forests.
The Enterrans had lived in peace for 75 million years, until a few Enterrans had resented peace.
They had started a new race, called Dark Enterrans, they had started a war against the Enterrans and fortunately had lost it.
The leader of the Dark Enterrans, named Quira, had send out her DNA samples to all planets with live. Unfortunately for Relena, that was the DNA she got.
"So that's why I don't feel peaceful and kind." Relena said.
"All Enterrans started out peaceful and kind, so somewhere in there you are too." The dragon softly touched her hair.
"I doubt that." She said icy, giving him her best glare.
The dragon gulped and retrieved his claw.
Relena stood up and walked away. "I'm going to catch some food." She said before dissapearing into the forest.
"Man, that girl is really in a battle with herself. I'd better hang around till she finds herself once more." The dragon said to himself before getting up and following Relena, after all he was kind of hungry.
