The Pain Within Part 2
Heero insisted on leading the prefenter group to Paris. When Lady Une refused, he threatened. And when that didn't work. He knocked Duo unconsious, which made Hilde pleade to Lady Une, who of caurse made the approval.
So thanks to Heero's presuasive 'methodes' he was now on the prefenters private jet towards Paris, France.
He looked out the plane window, but didn't enjoy the spectaculair view. He watched as the plane moved forward to their final destination.
He moved in his seat, the plane was going way to slow for his mind. He needed to be there NOW! He wanted to grab that Dr. Lotus and shake his body so hard that even Heero could see the stars around the doctors head.
Heero grinted his teeth while the prefenters were calmly preparing for their arrival.
"Heya buddy!" Heero almost jumped. 'What the hell is Duo doing here?'
As if reading his mind Duo answered. "Lady Une insisted that I joined you, I needed to help you with the preparations. See me as your left hand."
Duo seated himself on the seat next to Heero. He made himself comfy by wiggeling his butt. Heero snorted. 'More like my peralised left hand.'
Heero looked at the emergency exit calculating his changes to trow Duo out the plain. But to many prefenters were around, he would have no change. So he set back and swallowed the nearly overwelming desire to strangle Duo.
***Somewhere*****
Relena was trown back in her cell, she survived the treatment again. Although this one wasn't as hard as the last one. They actually seemed to become less painfull.
"Are you allright?"
"Yes, I'm fine Gaia. Thank you." Relena said politely, she smiled even though Gaia couldn't see even if there were lights in the cells.
Gaia shrugged. "I'm up pretty soon, there aren't much of us left."
Relena's buddy stiffened for a split second before it relaxed once again. The icy tone of Gaia's voice started to remind her of Heero.
"How many?" If anybody could see her face, it would have shown more pain than any of the treatments could do to her.
"12, 15 at the most." A scream interupted us.
"Hn, correction. 11, or 14 at the most." Gaia actually used a sarcastic voice. It gave Relena chills. 'She's already changing.' She thought, and it pained her very deaply. Gaia is the only person she can talk to, and now she was slowly slipping away.
Gaia chuckled. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing." She replyed. "No their is something, what is it Gaia?" Relena asked with a hint of irritation in her voice.
It was silent for a few moments until Gaia spoke. "I feel myself slipping, somebody else is taking over. I don't want that to happen again."
Relena's eyes soften. "You don't have to Gaia, just think about good times, grab on to your memories."
"I never had any good times, I was always alone, never had any friends. And I definately don't have any good memories."
Relena chewed on her bottom lip. Then an idea hit her. "Then think about me."
Silence. It took a few seconds, then minutes. Relena gave up the hope for an answer. W hen she seated herself on her wooden bed she heard Gaia's whisper. "Alright."
Relena smiled once more. Funny, this girl makes me smile, not the political smile, but the real one. I need to thank her when we get out of here. Another scream interupted her thoughts. She had heard a lot of people die, but it still gave her the chills. 'You just wait, wait until Heero comes and saves us. Then you'll pay.'
She laid her head down on the bed and closed her eyes for the so deserved rest. And fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
***Paris, France. The Airport***
Heero stepped out of the plane, Duo followed. Heero graciasly walked down the stairs. While Duo fell. "Ouch, those stairs are very slippery." He said while rubbing his head.
Heero stopped but didn't turn. "No Duo, it's just you who are clumbsy. I wonder how they ended up with you as a Gundam Pilot. Your doctor must have had a brain tumor or any other brain disfunctual decies."
Duo pouted. "Now that's not nice!" He said, pointing his finger towards Heero.
He just grinned and started walking again.
Duo sat there for another few seconds, then he gasped and his mouth fell to the floor.
When that was picked up he yelled to Heero who was now almost at their transportation. "Hey Heero! Did you just make a joke?!" Heero left out a very big sigh, and rolled his eyes.
When Duo finally entered the car, Heero was already trying to 'convince' the driver to leave Duo on the airfield. But unfortunately the driver had gotten orders from Lady Une. Both Heero and Duo had to be in the car before it drove off.
'Lady Une knows me to well.' Heero growled.
**One Hour later, Dr. Lotus's residence**
Heero, Duo and the rest of the prefenters had surrounded the house scillfully. Nobody noticed, but that's probably because there was nobody around. They hadden't even seen a car for the last 15 minutes.
Doctor Lotus's house whas a hugh mansion, just outside Paris, but you wouldn't even notice you were close to a large city.
The air smelled of flowers, and there was no car in sight, you couldn't see any other houses. Just the doctors mansion and a VERY large corn field. On the horison you could see some trees. But for the rest it whas just that.
And it whas beautiful. Even Heero had to give the landscape that much.
But he was not here to admire the view. Heero gave the signal that Duo and he were going to approach the house to get a better look at it's inhebitats.
Heero made the move first, Duo, a bit slower that Heero took a bit longer to react.
Heero entered the mansions garden and took in the walls, windows, doors and surroundings of the house.
'No camera's, no bodyguards. Nothing. This man is either very stupid. Or has boobytraps all over the place.'
After a good thaught(this tacking 2 seconds from Heero's time) he decided that the doctor must have some boobytraps up his long white sleeve. How he came to the conclusion? Simple; A. A man who has the letters DR before his name is never stupid, unless he gave the DR to himself. and B. Because Duo just tripped over a tripwhire and now hangs unspide down on the nearby tree.
Heero's eyes twinkled. And Duo gave him his best glare, witch made Heero chuckle. Duo's glare looked quite amusing unside down. "This is not funny!" Duo whispered dangerously. Heero's face turned stonic again, and cut Duo down. Which made him fall face down in the mud. Now Duo looked like a braided negro which made a few fellow prefenters giggle, nearly not holding their laughter.
Heero glared at the few young man, there followed a few gulp's and the giggleing stopped. After Duo had cleaned his face with Heero's shirt, which gave him a well desurved black eye, they continued to approach the house. Now more careful to not step on any boobytraps.
Heero continued to watch the windows, but there was no movement.
'Somebody must have heard an alarm when Duo stepped on a boobytrap. Then why is nobody here?'
Heero calculated his route towards a window on the first floor. It looked easy enough to open. When Heero made a move towards the wall, he was held back by no other then Duo Maxwell, the braided baka.
"Hey Heero ol body. You're not going to climb that wall are you?" Duo actually had some consern in his eyes.
"Yeah." Heero replied, keeping a weary eye on our friend Duo.
"I wouldn't if I were you."
Duo looked sincere, but what did he see that Heero didn't?
"Why?"
"Euhm, well.." Duo pointed at the wall, Heero looked but didn't see anything, just a usual wall, nothing to it. "Spill it out Duo."
"I know these walls. They were designed in the Dark Ages, hunderds of years ago."
Duo suddenly caught Heero's interest, Heero never really paid attention when Dr. J was giving him history lessons. Heero was more interested in the future that the past.
"What do they do then?" Heero asked. Duo didn't say anything, he just picked up a stone and trew it against the wall.
When it hit, hundreds of 6 feet long spikes exited the wall through tiny holls. Not even vicible to Heero's eyes from where he stood. But those spikes would have definately pierced and killed him.
When realisation hit Heero that Duo actually saved his life. His left eye started to twitch. 'This is one bad day.'
Heero signed and studied the house even more carefull that he did before. There was no other easy enterance. How the hell was he supposed to get in?
Then Duo started tapping his shoulder.
Annoyed Heero turned. "What?"
"I think I found an eterance." Duo said. Now both Heero's eyes started to twitch. 'What the hell?!! Am I loosing my concentration or is this just one bad dream?'
Duo pointed towards the front door.
Silence.
"Hell no, Duo!"
Silence.
"Why not? I mean I saved your life remember, now you ow me! So we'll take the front door." Heero glared at the poor defenceless man. "We will not take the front door! There must be another way." Heero started to infestigate the mansion ones more, searching each inch of wall and window for an easy way in.
"Well allright buddy, you do it the hard way! I'll do it the easy way. See you inside!" Duo waved towards Heero when approaching the mansions front door.
Heero considered climbing the spike wall, instead of following Duo, but he wanted to be the one to save Relena so he trew away his pride for once and ran after Duo.
They arrived at the front door. It was a large wooden door, it had black windows and a large doorknob. It looked like a door from the mid 20th century.
"Well, only one way to find out if anybody is home." Duo took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
No answer for several minutes.
Dou knocked again.
No answer.
Then Duo opened the mail box and put his mouth against the iron. "HELLLLLLLOOOOO! ANYBODY HOOOOOOOOMMMME?" He listened for a few seconds before he lowered his head once more and said in a female voice. "Housekeeping."
Heero pulled Duo's braid which made the American squeek.
Heero put his watch to his mouth and pressed a botton.
"Go!" he said and 20 preventer officers came from behind trees and bushes. Some even appeard from under a blanket of leaves.
"Now how did they get there?" Duo asked while scratching his head.
Heero kicked in the door to find a near empty house. Dust laid on every inch of the floor and furnature. The room had 2 chairs, a couch, a fireplace and a alarm clock. The floor was made of wood, and looked like it could collapse any minute. The soft ticking sound of the alarm clock next to the door was heard.
It sounded like the ticking was getting faster. Then it turned into a soft beeping sound. 'Wait a minute? Beeping sound?'
"BOMB!" Duo shouted suddenly. Prefenters started to get away from the house while Heero jumped out of the building as light blinded his vision. He hit the ground hard. And then he felt nothing as the darkness took hold of him a lurded him into the foid of unconsiosness.
***At Relena's cell***
Relena woke up from a terrible nightmare. She hadden't dreamt for quite some time now, but this nightmare almost looked real. 'But why would Duo and Heero be in France?'
She shook her head violently. She was wide awake now. "Stupid dream." She mumbled to herself.
"You had a dream?" Gaia asked.
"Yeah, more like a nightmare."
"Tell me."
"Well, it's about these 2 guys I know they are prefenters and are trying to rescue me. But somehow they end up in France at a mansion near Paris. And the two guys approach the front door and break in. Then a bomb goes of and all I see is one of the men lying in a pool of blood. But i..it can't be true. Why would they be in France?!" Relena gave a sigh, she was glad to have that of her chest.
"You know, our doctor does have a mansion near Paris in France."
Relena's heart started to beat faster. 'Nah, she must be joking.'
"As I said yesterday Relena, the treatment has other sideaffects. This could be one of them. What you saw might be what really happened."
Relena couldn't breath. 'No, that can't be. Please..O God!'
She tried to stop the tears but the came anyway.
"Don't cry Relena, you didn't see them die now did you?"
"No, but *snif* the explosion *snif* whas so *snif* hugh! *snif snif*."
Gaia gave a loud sigh.
"But that doesn't mean anything now does it. A man can survive a lot."
Relena's tears kept falling. 'Please, not Heero!'
"Relena, stop crying."
"I..I Can't!" Relena nearly screamed.
"Yes you can!" Gaia bit back. "Listen to me Relena! You're dream was you looking at something that happened at that very moment with somebody you really love. Now if you concentrate hard enough and stop crying you WILL be able to make that connection again. Just trust yourself!"
Relena whas shocked, Gaia had never spoken that much to her, but that whas not the most suprising. Gaia actually showed emotion in her voice.
It stopped Relena's tears, and gave her strenght to stand up straight and focus.
She tensed her muscles and concentrated. She opened one eye and asked shyly. "Euhm, where do I have to concentrate on."
"On the person you want to see of course!"
Relena nodded and once more tensed her muscles and concentrated. After a few minutes, still nothing had happened. "You see I can't!" Relena said dissapointed, the tears once again tried to break through her barrier.
"Yes you can Relena, just relax and concentrate. Don't make it to hard on yourself. You can do it, believe it!"
So she tried again, and slowely she started to see something else then the Heero in her mind. "What do you see Relena?" Gaia's voice reached her mind. It sounded diffirent, calm, friendly, no echo. 'This must be how her real voice sounds like.' The image started to slip away as she lost her concentration, but swiftly she recovered. And once again the image was there.
It was out of focus, and all she could see was a white blurr. But as Relena kept concentration on Heero, the image started to get shape. "I see a white room." Relena told Gaia.
"And what else?"
The image in her head suddenly cleared, and everything was perfect to see.
"Heero!"
"What do you see Relena?" Gaia asked once more.
"He's in the hospital. All kinds of tubes are attached to him." Relena couldn't stop the tears. But the image in her head didn't blurr. "A nurse is walking in, she's checking him. She's saying something."
"What is she saying?"
"I don't know, I can't hear her." Relena said between sobs.
"Concentrate Relena, you can hear her if you want to."
Relena concentrated on the womans lips when sounds suddenly started in Relena's ears.
"He's going to be allright sir! But I can't let you in just yet! The doctor still has to look at him!" The nurse sounded pretty pissed off!
***At the hospital.***
"Common! You just said he's going to be allright! Then why the hell can't I see him!" Duo yelled towards the nurse who was blocking his way towards his best friend. "If you do not sit your ass down then I will have to ask security to remove you from this hospital."
"Jesus! What do you have to do to see a friend down here!" Duo whined.
"Do not use the lords name in fain young man! And all you have to do is have patience." Duo pouted. He blamed himself that Heero got hurt, and now this lame excuse of a nurse was blocking his way.
"She got you there Duo." Duo turned to get face to face with Quatra.
"I'm glad you came." He said hugging the Arabian until the poor blonde turned purple. "Of course I came, Heero is our friend."
Quatra sat down on one of the chairs in the hallway, when Trowa and Wufei entered. "Heya Wu-man, Tro-Tro."
Trowa only nodded in responce.
While Wufei on the other hand. "My name is Wufei, Maxwell."
"Ok, Ok, don't get to wound up about it Wu."
Wufei gave Duo a glare which would have made most armies run for the hills. Duo sat down besides Wufei. "Didn't know you were going to be mad Wu-Wu."
"My. Name. Is. Not. Wu.Wu!" Wufei's breath came is gasps while he satisfied his thurst for baka blood by giving Duo a nose bleed.
"That was not nice!" Duo yelled.
Quatra snickered, but could not hold his laughter and longer. "whaahahahaha! Wu Wu! whahahahahaha." Quatra rolled of his seat and grabbed his stomach. Trowa just smirked which was a lot for the silent man. "No fair!" Duo pouted and walked toward the mensroom to take care of his nose bleed.
***In Relena's cell***
Tears no longer fell. Instead Relena had a sweet content smile on her face. "That Duo." She said to herself while opening her eyes.
"You convinced?" Gaia asked.
"Yes, thanks a lot Gaia. That really helped." Relena replied.
"Your welcome, glad I could help." Relena once again laid her head on the woodenbed to get some rest. She only noticed that Gaia's voice was still as friendly as in her head just before sleep once again captured her thoughts.

"You're treatments are complete Relena. From now own will put you on special training."
Relena did not show any emotion. She didn't care. Even though she didn't like the pain, the training would be no better.
The doctor studied Relena's features for a moment, it discusted her. But she did what Gaia told her to do. 'I'll get through this!'
"Allright, bring her to her cell, and give her a nice meal for a change. She must enjoy her fictory. It will learn her that if she sucseeds, she'll get rewarded." The doctor said towards the military men who nodded and 'escorted' her back to her cell.
This time they did not trow her in but let het walk in herself. 'Now that's a change I could get used too.' Her mind stated before the incredibely sweet smell of rosted patatoes, chicken-wings and brocolli made it's way to her nose and lured her towards her well deserved meal.
