The Pain Within Part 1



His heart raced with every passing second.'6 days, 6 freaking days and not even a clue where Relena might be.'
The computer screen flashed before his eyes. 'Again, nothing!'
Angre bubbled up inside him. 'Where is she?!'
With a swift motion he grabbed his laptop and trew it against the wall. It fell in more then 20 pieces on the floor.
Still his body raced with built up adrenaline he faced the wall and slammed his fists into it. Time and time again. Finaly his body gave in. His knees became weak, and could not support his body any longer. Tears started to make their way down his cheek. His hands came up to his face. Only then he noticed that his knuckles were bleeding. He didn't even care.

"Heero!"
He heard the voice but didn't feel the need to respond. There was no use, he could not live without her.
"Heero!"
'Why did I never tell her?'
Somebody grapped his sholders and out of instinct he almost broke the guy's hand. Almost.
"Hey take it easy buddy! It's only me!"
'Duo, of all the Gundam Pilots he has to be the one to see me crying. But then again so has he.'
"What is it Duo?" He grunted, not really wanting to speak, but he has to when it comes to Duo.
"Euhm, Miliardo got a letter, well, notreallyalettermorelikeabigenvelopewithavideotapeinit, and....." Heero grabbed Duo's neck choking the boy. "Duo." he said and gave him the best glare he had.
Duo gulped. "Ok! Ok!" he said in a wisper. And Heero released his death grip on the boy. "Miliardo got a video tape, it probably has Relena on it." Duo said within gasps for air. Heero's eyes grew an inch and then returned to the usual stonic face. But that didn't fool Duo because Heero made his way to Miliardo's room faster than you could say "Cheese Burger".

*Miliardo's Room*

Nobody noticed Duo and Heero came into the office. They didn't even gave a sound.
"Hey! Whats up, did you watch the video yet?" There was no response. Wufei actually had wide eyes, and stared at the screen like he had just seen Sally naked. Trowa didn't watch the screen shocked as Wufei did, but studied it, like it was an enemy about to attack. Quatra had a nose bleed and tears formed in his eyes. Then Heero noticed Miliardo, his head started to get red, and he stared at the video screen like it could explode if he concentrated hard enough.
Heero looked at the video screen, nothing, only white snow.'What they saw is probably bad.' "Euhm, guys you can stop watching the screen now. Umpf." Duo stumbled to the floor as Heero gave him a good hit in the face. "Shut up Duo." Heero walked towards the video screen when Miliardo's seat suddenly turned.
"Heero, study the tape, I know we can get something out of this." Miliardo jaw tightened as he grinded his teeth. His head looked about to blow. Suddenly the other pilots woke up. Wufei and Trowa stepped out the office without a word. But Quatra started crying. "Poor Miss Relena, who would do such a thing? Why?" Heero's hard started to race again.What the fuck is on that tape?!His mind raced with possible scenarios. But none prepared him for what he would see on that tape.

**Heero's study**

Heero had turned the video on, since then he didn't move. What he saw whas horrible. Relena. His heart and mind screamed. Adrenaline shot through his system, angre, rage and even hatred for the man who would troture his Relena like that.

Relena was placed on a table, iron retraints where clapped around her ankles and wrists. Then a young man, a bit older than Relena stepped into view. He stepped behind the table near her left arm, and he gave her an injection.

Then it becan.

Her body started to shiver and she tightened her jaw. Her left arm muscles started to tense. And slowly it spread trough her body. Her head shot from left to right and her back arched up and down, left and right. Her legs and arms struggled againt the restaints. Tears slid down her face as the pain started to get stronger and her body started to arch more heavely if that was even possible. Heero's jaw clenced, this was not happening. 'This can't be true. Who would want to hurt her so much?'
Then a manly voice started, it sounded old. "To whoever watches this video. We have captured the Vice Foreign Minister and have started doing tests on her body." Heero tightened his knuckles. 'How dare they?'
"I will tell you my motives and my procediors. First of all I didn't only kidnap your beloved Relena. I also captured many more test subject. Man, woman, old, young." Flashes of people started to apear on the screen, there were even children. They are doing this to children as well. "Now at first they don't seem connected. But they deffinately are. You only have to look at their DNA." Heero stared at the screen as it shows a few stands of DNA. It doesn't look any diffirent, what the hell is this man talking about?".
"The strands don't look diffirent do they? Well, you'll have to be a scientist to see the diffirance." 2 cells of the DNA strand started to flicker on the screen, another screen opened and the cells were now easier to see. "These 2 cells are not in the DNA of any ordinary human being. These cells are needed in my subjects so they can survive the treatment I'm giving them. I started out with 200 subjects, I now have 50. All between the age of 17 and 26. Including your Vice Foreign Minister." The screen once again was filled with Relena struggeling against the pain. "Now where did those other 150 subjects go you might think? I disposed of them, I only want the best of the best. So they have to withstand large amounts of pain without even giving a tiny sound. So, in simple words, they are not allowed to scream, or they will perish by my hands and never seen again." Heero's entire body tightened. 'Please! Don't scream Relena!'His mind shouted. The pain looked to terrible, how could she withstand so much pain. Then the pain stopped, and Relena's body laid peacefully on the table. Then the screen turned to snow.'She didn't scream.' Whas all he could think about before he started the tape again to study for clues.

**5 hours later**
"So Heero what is it that you found out?" Miliardo sat silently in his chair as he asked the question, but his eyes said otherwise. They were pools of a lot of diffirent emotions. "I found out that the man responsable is a scientist, above the age of 55. He is an expert on DNA and gen technolegy." Wufei shrugged at Heero's statement. Even he could have figured that out.
"The boy giving Relena the injection is Brian P. Williams, he is a student at the Dalton school for medicine. He has no police records, not even a speeding ticket." Heero's eyes darted between Miliardo and the other pilots, checking their reaction before he continued. "Brian will not gratuade from this school, his grades are at a minumum. Except for one class." Wufei interfered with Heero's speech. "Let me quess, Gen Therophy." Heero nodded. "Only A's." He added.
"Who is the teacher?" Miliardo asked.
"I checked him out as well. Doctor Micheal Lotus." Duo snickered, Heero turned around and once again gave him a glare worthy of killing the poor Duo. "Sorry." he wispered.
"Doctor Lotus is a pronaunced gen expert. He worked in a hospital on L2 as a Gen Therapist. He was able to change your gens to your desire. He was kicked out of the hospital and the DNA commity only 2 years ago. His file states that his plans to create a new treatment to create "better" humans was outrages. The treatment would kill many, and cause a lot of unnecesery pain." Miliardo nodded.
"Do we know where this doctor is staying?" Heero nodded. "He is now staying in France near Paris." Miliardo's face lid up like that of a child who just recieved a candy bar. Miliardo dialed Lady Une's number to give her this new information.
Heero turned around and walked out of the room. Before he could turn the doorknob however Trowa interfered. "And?" Miliardo suddenly grew silent, and the other pilots looked at Trowa in shock. Then their gases turned towards Heero who was still holding the doorknob. "Is there something your not telling us?" Whas Wufei's reply. It was silent for a few minutes when Heero finally spoke. "The treatment has been tested before this incident." A few gasped were heard an then a loud "WHAT!" and "YOU WERE NOT GOING TO TELL US?" Heero turned towards Miliardo, steam was almost comming from his ears. "Spill!" Was Duo's reply. Heero took a deep breath. "The results were not pleasing." Trowa arched his vicible eyebrow. "How not pleasing? Not pleasing for the doctor or for the comminty?" Heero turned towards Trowa. "Not pleasing for the comminty. The doctor stated that the results were precisely what he had hoped for." Quatra finaly made a sound. "W-what were these results Heero?" 'Quatra sounds so scared, but I quess we all are, and we have a reason.' "The test subject was a 18 years old girl, who was known for her good heart. She gave to charity and helped everybody who needed her."
"We do not wish to know that Heero, what were the results?!" Milliardo stated.
"When here treatment was done, she was faster, stronger and smarter than before." Heero paused for a few seconds. "Well, that's can't be so bad right?" Duo said relieved. "He's not finished yet." whas Trowa's reply.
"She also lost her soul." Heero stated.
"What do you mean Heero?" Heero met Quatra's concerned eyes. "It means that she no longer was the kind girl everybody knew, she became a woman who no longer cared for anybody else then herself and completing the mission she got from her creator, aka Doctor Lotus. She destroyed a few buildings and killed a lot of people." The room was silent when Heero ended his explanation. You could litterly hear a pin drop. Duo dropped down to the floor and returned the pin in his hair.
"How come we never heard of this! It must have been in the papers or at least the prefenters should have heard about this!" Wufei almost shouted. "I do not know how we never heard." Heero hung his head and leaned against the door. 'Indeed, why did we never hear of this?'

"I can answer that question."
Heero's head snapped up, just like that of the others. "Yes, please tell Miss Une." Quatra asked friendly. 'So, she was still on the other line.'
"I have heard from this incident, but I did not believe the story. So I signed it up as a terrorist act. I made sure Relena was save in case the terrorist were going to attack here. But they never came. Until I got a letter a day before Relena was kidnapped." Heero blinked his eyes twice before he asked "What was in the letter Lady Une?" Some rusteling of papers were heard before she took a deep breath and spoke.

They will pay for what they did to me! They will pay! I will show the world my abbilities. And they shall worship me! Watch your dear Vice Foreign Minister, cause you won't be able to see her much longer!

"What happened to the girl?" Wufei asked.
Lady Une said nothing. And everybody was lost in his or her own thaughts when Heero suddenly replied to Wufei's question. "She was killed."
"How?" What Trowa's question. "She was killed by Doctor Lotus himself, she did not listen to his orders any longer so he pulled the plug."
Again the room was silent. Everything had to sink in for a moment before Miliardo spoke. "Lady Une we might have a clue to were the Doctor is right now. Send a group of prefenters to Paris, France. Heero will give you the details soon." Heero nodded and walked to his own study to send the information to Lady Une. He could hear Quatra's words echoing through the hallways. "I hope we get there on time, I hope she holds on for just a while longer." I hope so too Quatra, I hope so too.


****Somewhere in a dark cell**** Relena's POV

I wake up starttled. The military boots again. Did they came for me already? They open a door next to me, my right this time. Then the sound of their boots slowly subsides. They brought somebody back! This person is strong.

"I didn't scream."

A smile starts to light up my face, it feels strange but good at the same time.

"Please tell me more about what they do here." I asked, still wondering if that really is my voice.
The girl took a deep breath. "He wants the strongest, he wants the best of the best." 'Her voice even sounds more distant. How can that be in just a few hours.' "Why?" I ask simply.
"He wants to create super humans, humans who are stronger, faster and more intelligent that normal humans are." My body shakes a bit because of the images her words bring up. "But how?" I manage to get out.
"The treatments they give us is a strong mixture of the gens he wants in our DNA stream and his DNA break formula." She pauses for a second before she continues. "The DNA break formula kills certain gens, and then the mixture of gens that were injected will take in their place. That is why the treatment is so painfull." I nod my head. "Thank you."

"Who said I was finished." My head snaps up. "There is more?!"
"There is more in the mixture then just the DNA break formula and the gens." I walk towards my cell door. "What?"
"The gens are not able to place themselfs in the right places, so the mixture also contains alien DNA."
"Alien DNA? But there are no aliens, I of all people should know." I state. 'This girl must be going mad by the treatments.' "There are aliens, where we don't know. But the doctor found a meteorite on the moon which contained a little amount of DNA. He was able to replicate it and make large amounts of it. He discovered that is was able to place gens in the good places and it made the patient heal faster." I started to understand, so that's why I never feel any pain longer that the treatment.
"But there are other sideaffects." 'O, no! I don't know if I can take much more.'
"Like what?" I asked her, not actually wanting to hear the answer.
"The subjects will absorb some of the alien aspects, like the voice." She stopped, and realisation hits me like a slap in the face. 'That's why my voice sounds so strange.' "The subjects also gets one or more of the following sideaffects; mind reading, telecanetic abilities, extreem fast healing, near immortality, long lifespand. But they all have one thing in common." My mind was still trying to consider all the sideaffects, but there is still more. "What is that?"
"They all take over the aliens karakter." I don't understand. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that we all will get the same personality as the alien, which is quite bad." I heard her footsteps, she is now also against the door.
"How bad?" I ask her, I need to know everything now.
"The alien didn't give a damn about anybody else but him/herself, he or she loved to kill and destroy. When it got a mission he or she would do anything to complete is. It had no compassion, no love and didn't know what the word friendly ment."
Her words stung to my heart. 'I'm going to be like that? No that can't be!'
"That can't be, I will not become like that!" I almost shouted.
"We all will."She gave a loud sigh, pain evident in her voice. "I don't want to become like that either. But at least we have more than any other person here has or had." I consider her words, but don't quite understand. "We have each other." She states. "Friends?" I ask her while my features soften. "Friends." She says back. I can almost hear her smile.
"What is your name?" I ask her, we have been talking a lot but I don't even know her name. "Gaia, and you are Relena right?" I look at the door questionly. "How did you know?" She shrugged "The guards keep talking about you, they say that the weak Vice Foreign Minister is not as weak after all." After a few seconds of silence she continues. "And whenever they bring you back they always say 'get in there Princess'."
I giggle, that has been a long time as well, it feels so good. Then I hear Gaia's laughter, again it sounded so familiar but I am still not able to place it.
Then Gaia's laughter stops abruptly as my cell door opens. I didn't hear their boots comming. "Your time is up Princess, you'll scream today I'll make shure of that." The man steps forward and grabs my arm. I walk with him willingly, there is no use resisting, that will only cause some unnesercery bruises. As I walk the stairs towards the labratory I can hear Gaia call out to me. "Survive Relena! Survive." Her words give me strength. 'Yes, I will survive.'

Heero's eyes darted from Duo to the house in front of him. 'Why did I have to be pared up with Duo?'
Both men sprinted towards the front door of the house. It seemed empty, and not lived in for months. The old house actually gave a spooky apearance. Duo knocked on the door. No answer for several minutes. Heero put his watch to his mouth "Go!" he said and 20 preventer officers came from behind houses, trees and bushes. Heero kicked in the door to find and empty house, only the soft beeping sound of the alarm clock next to the door was heard. 'Wait a minute? Beeping sound?' "BOMB!" Heero jumped out of the building as light blinded his vision. He hit the ground hard. And then he felt nothing as the darkness took hold of him a lurded him into the foid of unconsiosness.

Ouch. Aliens? I wonder what kind of personality aliens have. 1) Love to kill and destroy 2)cares about no one 3)only loves him or herself. If this keeps up, I am seriously reconsidering ever going to space. And breaking up of DNA sounds painful. Not to mention if you scream, you're done for. Double ouch.

I can't help but to wonder if Dr. J got a hold of a small amount of this alien DNA and injected it into Heero durnig his "training" for Operation Meteor. I like the way things are going so far, keep it up! The only question I have is who could that first girl be/have been?

As to your questions, the first girl's identity will be kept secret for a few chapters, but you'll get to know it. And as for Gaia, you'll get to know her better as the story continues.
