So, I was thinking, since I haven't had much to do lately, that it's been an awfully long time since I posted something... I've not been slacking off, I've started some fics, but I still want to finish Sabotage Backfire first. Anyway, I started writing this one, and I think it has a lot of potential... although I just want it to be a one-shot. Maybe I'll even make it part of another fic.. who knows...
Anyway, please review, I'd really like to know what you think, whether to make it fluff or angst.... Tell me.
Yore
By Andrea Sinisterra
There was a sense of peace that lingered around, a sort of hum that spoke of nostalgia and remembrance. The cold autumn air was a sharp bite on the skin, bringing memories of yore. But, despite the cold flashes of war, everything was serene. As it should be. Times like those are bound to leave heavy burdens of pain and loss. The memory of faces and voices, of names and places, a haunting succession of dreams and nightmares. Feelings of loss and solitude, a bottomless void within, ever growing, deeper and darker.
And she knew all this from the blue depths of his eyes. The flickers of navy and silver, memories; and the liquid oceans, pains. Sometimes, questions surfaced. Long forgotten questions inquiring secrets and moments of the past, but they never got answered. She never tried, for she knew that it would result fruitless. Even though it was amazing the changes in him. She questioned nothing, doubted nothing. It wasn't so much a change, either way. No, she shook her head, the circumstances were the difference, were the change. The era of madness had turned into a whisper of the past, only a memory, a memory that still clouded his eyes. Eyes that have turned darker, deeper... eyes full of fear. Reluctance resided in his soul, keeping him from the freedom he so much deserved; despair reigned his heart, for he kept himself from fully giving, kept him from taking down the walls that had taken permanent residency around his being.
Relena ached for him. So much time had passed, moments and situations long gone, even from her memories. She had made herself forget them. She had to. Why couldn't he do the same? Why wouldn't he do the same!? It was almost as if he enjoyed living in fear and guilt. Like he enjoyed living in pain. There were times she would think she hated him. Hated him for what he did, for what he is, for what he won't do. A hatred that would make her limbs shake with restraint... hatred. Such a horrendous word, such a powerful little word.
She hated his masochistic tendencies. Oh, yes, she definitely hated them.
