TENDRILS OF DESTINY
EPILOGUE
Hallius Yuy writes:
I have no wish to?bore you with the exact statistics of the conditions on Earth after the Insufferable Destruction (the event carried out by my mother and NATURE). I will simply lay out a time frame for the "disasters":
After the event of my parents' deaths on L3, the Gundam Pilots (Wufei included) managed to take control of NATURE's Beam Cannon equipment, and after much deliberation, decided to leave it as it was. They felt that no more harm could possibly be done with it, as they found the equipment to be destroyed. By that time, all of the colonies, besides L3 had been destroyed as well. Most of the debris cast off by the other explosions struck and yielded the remaining L3 colony cluster incapable of sustaining life--in other words, they turned into giant Swiss cheese slices of metal. My parent's bodies were (are still)?entombed in L3 as a silent message of warning to the future generations of humanity.
The Amazons of NATURE, who conducted the planning for the chaos, either committed suicide or were shipped to Earth for confinement or executions. Some escaped their prisons alive. Some did not. It doesn't really matter.
My "Uncle Trowa" and the other Gundam Pilots returned to Earth and found their mates. Their conditions after this point are unimportant. Just know that the Gundams were truly destroyed, as no use for the machinery existed any longer. The Pilots' only other requirement after this act was to live and pass on their genes, and their important recessive and dominant alleles are still passed down through the population today.
The over-population of Earth, (caused by the immigration of so many individuals from Mars, the Moon, and the Colonies), as predicted, caused a tremendous decrease of the supplies. Technology could no longer support the species of Earth. Millions upon millions (humans and "wild" animals) died. Those "stronger" beings that did manage to live long enough to sire another generation did not live long enough to do much more. Education decreased, and the literacy rate dropped almost fifty percent. As I said before, there numbers are rough estimates, since, of course, no one really had any time to take them down; the struggle for the elements of life was too exhausting to place energy in any other areas.
The long term effects of this powerful transformation of the planet Earth can be said to be?not entirely good?just peaceful. As the individual fights only for himself now, mass-scale wars do not exist. Tiny collisions between humans in this society, each one competing for the best of whatever it is they wish, are the only conflicts of the world. Evolution has transformed this species into something faster, stronger, and smarter??even though almost no one at this time can read or do simple arithmetic??and will create new species that branch from Homo sapiens if this pattern continues.
You may wonder how it is that the child of A23??as I continue to call my mother??and Heero Yuy can have lived long enough to report about the "long-term effects" of their powerful scheme. I am approaching my eighth century, and I look no older than twenty. The fluid that runs through my veins, the infamous neag?, bleeds life into my being. Daily I am exposed to the abstract memories of my mother.
With this tale of their existence, I wished to portray her true identity. That was relatively easy (if you can consider meditating in your mother's mind easy). It was my father's mind that proved to be more difficult to create. The neag? that A23 received during her pregnancy with me fed her very thoughts and emotions to my growing fetus. I have no such link with my father. I only know him through my mother's warped memories. Trowa, on the other hand, I knew through experience and through my mother's mind. Just take into mind that the male figures of this tale have sprung from my imagination, not my memories, and take heed that perhaps their portrayal is not altogether correct.
As I stated before, my 769th birthday is approaching. I am afraid I have no idea when my life shall exhaust. The only thing that keeps me from perishing from vapidity is my writing. I have recorded much of the events of Earth in the AD and AC eras, though they really are not of any use to anyone. This volume is by far the most difficult that I have recorded so far, but it has been done so with pleasure.
Also, the Mags which controlled my mother's mind do not exist in mine. But I do not need them to understand my purpose. I will wait and breed. And when humanity begins to give rise to large-scale conflict, I will beat it back. I will do this as long as it takes, perhaps forever. Such is my fate--being the peace-keeper.
El fin.
[AN]-- Wow... It's over! I...wasn't sure how to end this. I had planned originally something else, but this was the only way to explain the effects of the destruction of the colonies. Thankyou so much to my patient readers!
