Chapter 1 ? Foul Plan?
?
?What? Are you out of your mind? We can?t just ask someone to assassinate the princess without us being in the hot pan. I?m very positive that we will be the principal suspects since we?re mostly her critics.? A man in his late thirties blurted out in despair trying to explain his reasoning to the man, a decade older than he is, on the other line.?
?No, we?re not just going to hire someone by the roadsides. My point is that we will be hiring a professional one to do the job.?? ?Like whom?? The young man asked raising an eyebrow at the confident fa?ade of his comrade in crime.?
?Like Mr. Wayne, he is my most trusted man. He has not only eliminated Mr. Borough in the department of finance by a gunshot but also Prime Minister Warren of Mexico and many others. And to furthermore, we weren?t even been considered a suspect to that incident.? The elder man proudly enumerated the accomplishments of his guy while running his fingers through the smooth black surface of his vidcom. ?Let me tell you one more thing, my man works pretty clean and organized so I can see no reason for you to doubt his capacity and skills.?? ?Umm? that?s great but I still do suggest you to think of your idea not only twice but three times. We really have to be extra careful when it comes to the most loved persona of the earth and the colonies.???
?Okay, I get your point. Don?t worry, I?ll think about it and I?ll just call you when I have time to inform you of my decision.? With that said, the old man gingerly terminated the connection as he rubbed his wrinkled chin back and forth contemplating on the last sentence said by the other man. ??extra careful when it comes to the most loved persona of the earth and the colonies?? Mr. Donenfeld shifted his position in the chair as an idea came out of his mind. He cautiously picked up the framed picture of a young girl with honey-blonde hair and aquamarine colored eyes inside the top drawer of the mahogany table. He then turned around to face the glass-covered window of his office in the ESUN main building while staring intently on the picture tracing the face of the girl with a calloused finger.
?
He smirked and said to himself, ?You would soon be despised and forgotten by the people you serve. I?ll make sure to that.?? A maniacal laughter echoed throughout the room as a shattered glass being thrown on the floor was heard. And everything went silent.

The people gawked in admiration at the parked black limousine as an eighteen-year-old girl step out with all the grace and splendor. Her features were that of a girl but her poise and bearings were that of a woman. She walked gracefully along the red carpet as flashes of cameras and microphone?s being shoved at her face met her as she made her way to the function room.?
The walk seems to be lasting for hours as media personnel tried to ask her every bit of question they could muster.
?
?Miss Peacecraft, what can you say about the newly proposed order by the ESUN senate regarding the manufacturing of innovative mobile suits for the protection of the earth and the colonies?? A reporter from channel 6 suddenly appeared in front of Relena as a cameraman followed closely behind.?
?Miss Peacecraft, was there any truth that you?re opposing to this new law for your own personal interest?? Another reporter butted in.?
?Miss Peacecraft, could you tell us your reasons for disagreeing ??? ?Are you going to share your own insights concerning the said issue on your speech tonight??? ?Miss Peacecraft, why did you???? ?? for doing such an act, are you afraid to be charged of treason??? Ignoring all the questions, Relena quickened her pace towards the function room while holding her head up high. ?God, help me to convince the people that there?s no need for mobile suits in our peaceful consign? Relena silently prayed as she entered the room.?
Delegates and political figures all turned their heads towards a certain someone. Her entrance made quite an attraction. Everyone was staring at her as if expecting her to do or at least to say something about the matter. But instead of babbling like an idiot she just walked straight to her seat while grinning and greeting them one by one. It is better to remain silent than to say a word that might lead her to destruction. Her mind was wandering off. She was thinking about lots of unrelated things like? ?What if I?m just an ordinary girl? Well, then probably I?m in school instead of this place. And there would be no need for me to act so guarded, so self-secured. Oh, how I wish I were like Heero now. At least the war is over and he?s starting a new life all over again while I?m still stuck in this political arena. Heero. I wonder what he looks like now. I haven?t seen him for 2 years since the Mariemaia incident.? ?
Heero? Relena was snapped back to reality as the speaker delivered his opening remarks. ?Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today?? The speaker went on and on and on. ?Now, let?s hear a few words from Vice Foreign Minister Relena Peacecraft a propos to the issue of her contradiction for the manufacturing of mobile dolls.?? Relena gathered all her courage as she made her way to the podium. She took a deep breath and readied herself for the inevitable. ?Well, here goes nothing.?? ?Good evening. As we all know and had witnessed, peace was now finally attained after many years of our struggle in battle. There came OZ and White Fang, to name a few, that were considered as opposing forces for the establishment of a new and passive breed of government. Many nameless soldiers died in combat for the attainment of this much hoped peace that we are now enjoying.? Relena paused and looked at the audience before her and then continued on with her speech. ?Majority of the earth and the colonies? populace, as far as the statistics says, believe that the peace, which we are now having the benefit of is very stable. It is unlikely for another conflict to initiate when the people are aware of the possible consequences of another upcoming war, which in the end is a loosing incongruent battle. To get straight to the point, I don?t see the need for another production of mobile suits for the preservation of peace. The will power and the firm resolve of the people to maintain it is an enough reason to preserve it. So much for my few words, well, that?s all. Thank you and God bless us all.?? Relena sighed with contentment as the last words escaped her lips. ?God bless us all? There was a pause of silence within the vicinity of the room as the people took in the significance of the message delivered by the princess and after the meaning sunk in, a thunderous sound of favorable applause shortly followed.?

?
?Wow! Man, did you hear her speech? It was a great one don?t you think. I?m very sure that all people would agree and participate in her anti-mobile suit policy.? The young man said as he turned off the television and walked over to the fridge to get a beer with his chestnut brown braid swinging back and forth. ?Hey, am I talking to the wall?? Duo asked sarcastically.?
?Hn, What was it?? Came the smug reply from Heero as he continued to stare at the now black screen of the television.?
?Never mind. So, have you decided to see her??? ?No?? ?And why? God, it has been already two years since you last saw her. Didn?t you miss her or something?? Duo said half-jokingly while positioning himself in front of his friend.?
?No and it?s none of your business.? Heero replied as he turned away from Duo and settled himself on the bed.?
?Duh, do you have to be always like that to me? I mean, to the handsome me.? Duo said with a huge smile of contentment at his attempt on humor plastered on his face. ?Well, at least you said more than two words buddy. That?s a good sign that you?re still a human and not mutating into a brain-dead killer zombie. I think that was the longest thing you said since yesterday. Care to tell me what?s bothering you??? ???? ?Fine, be like that. Who wants to talk with you anyway?? Duo annoyingly complained as he walked out the room and slammed the door with a loud thud.?
Heero?s intense Prussian blue eyes followed Duo?s retreating back and smirked at his loud-mouthed friend.?
From the time Mariemaia?s plot ended, Heero and Duo was left with no other choice than to go back to school in colony L1. They shared a dormitory and have been roommates for the past two years. They also joined the soccer varsity team in Oxford University to be able to have the scholarship that would support their education and at the same time got a part-time job as a computer programmer.?
Heero continued to stare blankly at the ceiling like there was something amazing attached to it when suddenly a forbidden image of a certain girl appeared in his thoughts. Relena?? *****
?
?Relena. Vice-Foreign Minister Relena Peacecraft. Oh, I hate that name. Tell me Howard, how can we get rid of her?? Mr. Donenfeld, the Executive Vice-president of the Marketing Department asked infuriatingly while uncomfortably shifting his position in his black leather chair.?
?So, I assume that you had already given a second thought on my proposal last Monday.?? ?Yes but that?s beside my point. I want her out of this political arena at once!? Mr. Donenfeld yelled across the room as he robustly slammed his fists on the table. ?Can?t you see that she has once again manipulated the mind and rationality of the people regarding the new law through her unanimous speech? I can?t understand why does she always have this charisma to the public.?? ?Yes, I can indeed see that Leopold. Therefore, I suggest that we ruin her image first before the nation and then do whatever you have in mind next.? Howard Cortamaga, the Executive Vice-president of the Finance Department recommended with an evil grin tugging at his lips.?
?You have a point on that. So, what I have to do now is to think of a way to somehow lessen her credibility and after doing so then we will be able to set her out of office. Am I right? ? After getting the point of his comrade, his pale and dry lips were starting to form a half-smile on its own.?
?Yes, definitely. So do you have something in mind??? There was an eerie sense of stillness hanging in the air in the confined room of the Executive?s office and then Leopold Donenfeld replied, ?I think I already have the perfect plan in mind.?? ?

Interesting start to your story. Relena still is dear to most of the people, but how long will this last with this new threat? Heero is still watching her, if only from afar *sighs* I just love that ^_^
I did find the formating a little hard with this first chapter, some extra returns would have made it a bit easier.
All in all, a nice beginning to your story, and I am off to read more now ^_^
