Dangerous Game (one-shot, songfic)

Post by Gundam Girl »

Gundam Girl: And so I bring the fun. This is my first Hellsing fic, but when I thought about trying to put Alucard and Integra to Broadway, this song immediately came to mind. It fits them perfectly, in my opinion, and I hope you think so too.

Disclaimers: I do not own Hellsing (although I do wish to one day own Alucard and keep him all to myself). Nor do I own the song ?Dangerous Game,? from *Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical.* It belongs to Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse. I only own this fic.

Warnings: Some ?orange?, as Melville?s Best Friend and myself have so proudly called it, and dark fluff. Fun stuff to write, dark fluff.

Note: Lyrics are in these: )la, la, la(

Please enjoy, and be sure to leave a review, either urging me on with Hellsing fics or banishing me from them!

*~Dangerous Game~*

Walter swiftly stepped into the dank dungeon and shut the door behind him. He wanted to believe that accompanying creak was from old wood and not from old bones. With the slightest wince, he balanced the tray on the flat of his upturned palm and stepped into the middle of the room.

The soft click of the tray hitting the long, wooden table echoed in the seemingly empty prison cell. But Walter had lived in the Hellsing Manor for a great many years, and he knew better. The chill in the air was not from the lack of heat alone.

?Walter.? His name was spoken from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Dust particles shivered at the voice?s tone. Walter did not so much as blink. ?It is a late hour.?

?Early enough for you,? the wrinkled Angel of Death replied, filling the single crystal goblet with a red substance from the tray that was not wine.

?Ha. Then it is another morning that I wake to.?

Walter did not question the cryptic statement, and instead bowed at the waist. ?I trust you slept well, Alucard.?

His eyes appeared first; flashes of red behind glowing orange glasses, and then the rest of his scarlet-clad form materialized, much like the fictional Chesire Cat. His fanged teeth were bared into a grin.

?What does my Master?s butler seek in my chambers??

Though there was little doubt he knew why the servant was here, Walter kept a straight face and inclined his head respectfully. After a moment, he decided it would be best to give a direct reason. ?Miss Hellsing, as you know, has been up to her elbows in work lately.?

Alucard chuckled, a light near-growl from deep inside his chest. ?It?s impossible not to notice. And don?t chip down. My Master?s reports to Scotland Yard is up to her very neck.?

Walter?s beetle-black eyes regarded him warily, and he wondered if there was anything behind his statement. ?Nothing escapes you, sir.?

Alucard grasped the goblet and watched the wine-like blood sparkle in the light of the single candelabra. ?Speak, Walter,? he invited, lips spreading. ?Say what?s on your mind.?

Walter bowed again. ?Yes, sir. I have come to respectfully beseech you to persuade Sir Integra to rest.

Moments passed. Alucard paused with the goblet halfway to his lips. A whole two minutes ensued before the vampire spoke. ?I must admit ? that is not what I thought you would ask.?

Walter raised an eyebrow. ?Sir? I thought you were reading my thoughts.?

?I rarely feel the need to with you, Walter. More to the point. . .? The smile had left his face. ?Is there any mission tonight??

?No, sir. Miss Hellsing has been at her desk since nine a.m. yesterday. Her meals return half-eaten, and I have brought her sixty-two servings of tea.?

Alucard whistled lowly. ?That many?? The amusement was back in his voice.

?The most recent three with sleeping drugs.? Walter shook his head. ?I am worried, Alucard. She may forget it, but I remember all too well that Sir Integra is very much mortal. And like any mortal woman, she needs to rest.?

?That she does, Walter.? In one large gulp, Alucard drained the goblet. Slamming it down on the table, he sent the old butler a wolfish, or rather vampiric, grin. ?I will acquiesce to your request. The thought of a battle of wills between Integra and myself has always intrigued me.?

A slight flash or relief passed through Walter?s eyes. ?I thank you very humbly, sir.? He bowed so low that his monocle fell from his eye.?

?It?s nothing.? Teeth and eyes glinted in joined amusement that rarely left his face. ?I assist my Master gladly.? He floated to the ceiling and dissolved into it, his laughter echoing throughout the underground floors.

Walter sighed, replaced his monocle, and balanced the tray on his palm again. No doubt Alucard had a plan for Sir Integra.

Oh well, the Angel of Death thought. Miss Hellsing would have to finish growing up eventually.

***

The flames in the Hellsing office and died to embers half an hour ago, and would be smoldering soon. She needed to call for Walter, more for tea rather than the fire. The tall candles on her desk illuminated all of the loathsome work she had left to do ? insurance replies, vehicle bills, weapons supply, appliance bills, and an answer to an inquiry made by SAS.

Integra made to rest her forehead on her turned palm, caught herself, and leaned back against the hard wood of the chair. She smirked. What would her father think of his Hellsing child, desperate to be finished with work?

?He would congratulate her on all of the progress she?s made.? Slowly, Alucard rose from the floor, his right hand covering a heart that didn?t beat. He was slightly bent in a stance of allegiance.

?Alucard.? Integra?s voice was as cold as the Jackal?s smooth, familiar metal, but the vampire didn?t miss the underlying weariness beneath the chill. ?What are you talking about? I?ve barely begun.? She waved an impatient hand to indicate the piled documents. ?There is no assignment for you. A supposed zombie spotting was a false alarm. Why don?t you and Miss Celes. . . Alucard??

Alucard replaced the stoke in front of the now blazing fire. ?I may not be affected by the cold, but you are human, and the last thing we need is a hypothermia-ridden leader, Master.?

Integra?s eye twitched in irritation. ?Perhaps. As I was saying??

Alucard would not allow her to finish. ?You should take a break, Master. A walk in the garden would be therapeutic,? he suggested.

Her thoughts admitted to liking the idea ? that or bed. But what came from her mouth disappointed him.

?I have my work, Alucard. It is my first priority.?

Alucard would have sighed if he had the ability to feel exasperation. Integra was a hard woman. Yet he had not expected her to give in easily.

?There is a reason you are Hellsing?s ruler.?

?Yes. And that reason calls for maximum responsibility.? Saying so, Integra used her left hand to rub her right shoulder. ?You may go if you wish, Alucard.?

If he wished. Good. He was not yet asked to leave. Not specifically, anyway.

?Does your arm bother you, Master?? he asked, working to keep a straight face. ?I can send for Walter, and he can bring an ointment.?

?That isn?t necessary,? Integra told him.

?No.? Her eyes had not lifted from the desk. He seemed to come behind her without walking. It wasn?t until the right part of her shirt had been tugged down to her elbow that her head shot up.

The flames in the fireplace crackled and dried her lips as the frigidity of his hand seeped through Alucard?s glove and chilled her flesh.

?Alucard. . .?

)I feel your fingers. . .cold, on my shoulder(

?Relax, Master.? He began to press his fingers in her deltoid. ?I shall ease you.?

)Your chilling touch. . .runs down my spine. . .(

Was it the faint pain or the fell of his near-caress her naked skin that caused her heart to skip every other beat?

Integra turned to send him away, but a coal black gaze glimmered down at her, daring her to speak.

)Watching your eyes. . .as they invade my soul. . .(

Alucard?s hand left her shoulder and a long finger hooked into the edge of her scarf the same way it hooked around a trigger. Integra leaned back, unconsciously welcoming him.

)Forbidden pleasure. . .I?m afraid to make mine. . .(

?Integra.? He said her name lowly, softly, and the Hellsing leader shivered against her will.

)At the touch of your hand, at the sounds of your voice, at the moment your eyes meet mine(

Integra closed her eyes as the tie slipped away.

)I am losing my mind, I am losing control, full of feelings I can?t define. . .(

Alucard drew back the chair.

)It?s a sin with no name.(

He pulled Integra to her feet.

)Like a hand in a flame.(

Alucard very carefully lifted his fingers to her jaw and traced the line of it.

)And our senses proclaim, ?It?s a dangerous game.?(

?You know, I?ve always thought you like a princess,? Alucard muttered, remembering the day she had first encountered him.

)A darker dream. . .that has no ending. . .(

?Your father, a very king-like figure, spoke so fondly of you.? His breath met her cheek icily.

Integra wasn?t sure what he was doing to send such sensations through her, but she hoped it wouldn?t end soon.

)That?s so unreal. . .you believe that it?s true. . .(

?I am no princess,? she murmured as his arm wrapped round her to support her buckling knees. For a moment, in the light of the candles, they seemed to waltz.

)A dance of death. . .out of a mystery tale. . .(

?Ah,? Alucard replied with a smile. ?You work all day and night and wear your suits and sit at the round table. But if one looks carefully, they can see that the knight is truly the damsel yearning for a lover.?

She had no words to say, her mind clouded with his voice.

)The frightened princess. . .doesn?t know what to do. . . Will the ghosts go away?(

?This work haunts you,? the vampire intoned.

?I wish it gone,? she confessed in her drunken-like state.

)Will she will them to stay? Either way, there?s no way to win. . .(

?I can make it all disappear one day,? he whispered in her ear.

She reveled in the way he brushed at her hair. What would this do to her, her logical mind wondered. Would there be consequences to this blissful confusion?

)All I know is I?m lost, and I?m counting the cost. My emotions are in a spin. . .(

?Nothing can go wrong,? Alucard assured her. ?Both and neither of us are at any fault.?

)I don?t know whose to blame. . . It?s a crime and a shame. . . But it?s true all the same, it?s a dangerous game. . .(

Integra?s hand moved to her servant?s hair.

)No one speaks. . . Not one word. . .(

A smirk graced his face as she stared at him with half-closed eyes.

)But what words are in our eyes?(

Saying nothing, Alucard swept him atop his arms and she lay there as though dead. His master?s weight was far from heavy, even for his great strength, and he ran his cold lips along the skin of her shoulder.

)Silence speaks. . .loud and clear. . .(

?Alucard. . .? For a moment, awareness returned to Integra as the ice of his body met the heat of hers. ?We shouldn?t??

Alucard?s lips found her mouth, and her eyes widened.

). . .All the words we don?t/want to hear!(

A violence tugged at him as Alucard?s hand plunged into her platinum hair, molten gold in the glow of the fire. He lowered her to the floor, but her body stayed pressed to him. ?Integra. . .?

It was only in her to meet his gaze. And feel the power between them. She hated and loved it.

)At the touch of your hand, at the sound of your voice, at the moment your eyes meet mine. . . I am losing my mind, I am losing control, fighting feelings I can?t define!(

Alucard led her around the desk.

)It?s a sin with no name. . .(

He steered her towards the small sofa in the corner ? the perfect place!

)No remorse, and no shame. Fire, fury, and flame!(

The fire roared and sprang as the vampire pushed Integra down onto the cushions.

)?Cause the devil?s to blame!(

?Alucard!? Integra shot into a sitting position. Before she could react further, Alucard wrapped his long arms about her shoulders and kissed her with all of the passion he had pent up over the years he?d known her.

)And the angels proclam. . . !(

When the Hellsing servant pulled away, Integra was asleep on the bed, chest rising and falling as she breathed.

)It?s a dangerous game. . .(

With a smile he had given to none before her, Alucard turned and disappeared. The biggest log in the fire broke. Integra slept.

And Walter turned away from the hold that peeped into Integra?s office for guard purposes with a frown. He and that vampire would soon have another chat ? about personal space.

Hn. Chapter 2: In which Walter Gets Involved?

i've always wanted to know what Walter would really think about a union between his little girl and her demon prince. This brushed the surface, but caught my interest all the same.

Implyed, but not told, . . . I like it.

It was very good, and while I never saw or heard the music from Jekyll and Hyde, I have to agree with you. The way that you added the lyrics fit perfectly.

Now, since you've written this one wonderful fic, it's only right that you should be allowed to write another, just so that we could be allowed to perhaps see what happens after this little encounter? *Very hopeful!*

Anyways, till next time!

Red Ninja, you are cool, so never forget it!

Eden, it's people like you have discourage me into thinking I can't write one-shots!

Rose: *snicker* You can't.

Yeah, the sequel is possible...but unlikely. As much as I adore AxI and Walter's thoughts on them together intrigue me, I don't imagine myself continuing this. This is just some dark sap used for sating you until some good Hellsing authors like Stella continue their fics!!

But thanks all the same for the support. Made me feel warm and fuzzy inside....

*scratches head*

I've read this. I know I've read this. Why did I not review it? I read it and I liked it so my non-review leaves me confused.

That being said, I loved it GG! Loved it like whoa. You did excellent on the characterizations and who doesn't love a seductive Alucard? *rowr*

Alucard: Thank you.

I'm a wee bit saddened that there won't be a second part, in which the personal space subject is broached. Nearly everything was subtle and well written (well it was all well written) and you shouldn't have any fears on delving more into writing more for this fandom.

In fact, I comand thee to write more. Now even. Aren't I nice? ^_^

Hm, and why I never replied to this review befuddles me. *scratches head with you* Thanks a lot, Wicked! Unfortunately, I've not had a whole lot of inspiration for AxI...one day though.

And your Trowa icon is always hilarious. ^_^
