Moon and Stars (Poem)

Post by Morrighan »

Another one of the three poems I wrote for my mythology unit project. Enjoy!

*** Moon and Stars ***

Helios lowers his shining chariot into the churning sea,
Vibrant violets, oranges, and crimsons of every shade chase each other across the sky,
Forming spectacular designs as Nyx slowly pulls her curtain of darkness through the air,
Signaling the end of another day, the beginning of another night.

The world begins to slumber, and the stars begin to sparkle,
As they are awakened to hold vigil over the quiet earth,
All is as it should be,
The calm of the dark ever lingering and soothing.

Suddenly, a rustling among the bushes splinters the silence,
Closely pursued by the howl of a hound,
The sounds of the chase ensue,
As the forest is tense, awaiting a resolution.

A buck, in the prime of his years, bolts through the thicket,
And a pack of gray hounds zealously on his track,
Their bays of excitement spurring the deer faster,
As the stars gaze on.

Chasing her hounds and her quarry,
A maiden in the beauty of her years follows,
Her long gold hair flying in the wind, azure eyes narrowed in concentration,
A long bow in her hand, and an upturned moon of silver upon her brow.

And as she runs past the mountains,
A brilliant white orb rises in the sky,
Alighting the terrain with an ethereal light.
?I always know you?re about to say something very sweet or very stupid when you use my full name??

Why yes, I am a saucy wench. :-P

Ahhh mythology, one of my favorite tpoics. Again, you have a refreshing style and a very descriptive flair to your poetry. I love this!

:D :D :D :D :D :D
Do not measure life by the number of breaths you take but rather by the moments that take your breath away.

Some things belong on paper, others in life. It's a blessed fool who can't tell the difference. - Madeleine "Quills"

Ah! The horror! I missed one of your poems!

Curse school I never have time anymore.

This poem was excellent, as usual. You have such a gift!! I can see the scene perfectly, and it captured mythology wonderfully!

You're going to write more, aren't you? *grins*

(thanks for PMing me. I totally forgot that I still had to review this one!! Damn physics homework...)
"The point is, you see," said Ford, "that there is no point in driving yourself mad to stop yourself going mad. You might just as well give in and save your sanity for later."

We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing - Beyond the Sea
