Disclaimer: Me. No. Own. Inuyasha&co. You got nothing on me?. Mwhahaha--- O_o are you all looking at me like that? I?m not crazy.
(Last Chapter: Lazy Bum, you should just go back and look, oh well--- Kagome is yet again asked out by Houjo--- Eww! Declining with a quick excuse, she evades him. We get a brief glimpse at Inuyasha in the last chapter as Kagome read his stats. Oh, and who could that person in the alley, possibly be, I?m sure you have no idea. Pssh!)
**
The heat wave had hit early this year. Unannounced as the weather forecaster was yet again wrong. It had hit hard and fast, leaving many unprepared for the heightened warmth to their summer. Excluding one person that is---
Miroku.
Sitting there in his car, packed and ready, she tried to remain calm. Really, she should have expected it; after all she was the one who had asked for the ride. So all in all, it had been her fault to begin with. Except, she was having a hard time blaming herself when Miroku was such a better candidate. But she had asked, and he agreed. Though he had been a last resort, obviously she wouldn?t have asked if no one else could be spared.
She had even gone as far as asking the receptionist on floor twelve--- whatever his name was, but he was busy.
So here she was, the only friend she had with a working air conditioner, praying to the gods above that his hand would remain where it was? wheel and all. Really, all her worrying was going to waste as she scrutinized the hands still gripping the steering wheel. It wasn?t like he was going to just reach over and try to grope her. He was in fact going after Sango; he wasn?t going to jeopardize his chances by---
Why that---
Swinging her hand with as much force as she could gather, smacking him as hard as she could across the face.
Not even stunned, a smile lit his face as he turned once again to the road.
?You know, if we hadn?t been at a stop light, you could have very well started an accident.?
Her eye twitched. Not missing a beat, she grounded out her usual response in such situations.
?Watch it monk, or I?ll tell Sango what you have hidden in your closet. And I don?t think she?ll appreciate the way your hand seems to slip so often near my thigh.?
Smile fading, his expression turned the usual calm mask he wore. Had she been anyone else, they might have thought him wounded by her reply. But even as he watched the road, they held their breath waiting for one or the other to cut the silence held between them.
It wasn?t long before impatience overrode all common sense as he decided to continue his game. Having started it the moment he reversed the car out of her driveway.
So, opening his mouth, he sounded the one comment he knew would bother her like none other.
?Don?t forget that I haven?t told Sango the whole story behind us being in the closet with your birthday cake,? his glance slid across to her as they came to yet another stoplight. Mouth twitching as he tried to suppress his amusement at the whole situation, ?I mean it had been your idea to go in there in the first place.?
A gagging sound uncontrollably was let out as the mental image came into play. She hadn?t been drunk enough to forget even a snippet of the event. Something she had tried to black out from her memory, the only good part being the relief she felt when she was introduced to Mr. Toilet.
Ah, Mr. Toilet, equipped with a nice smooth surface that cooled her heated skin as she threw the contents of her stomach inside the bowl. Her only true friend in the world of drunken stupidity. Of course, Sango hadn?t helped by bursting in on the whole scene? thank God she hadn?t seen much more than she did. Or--- she too would have been introduced to Mr. Boomerang that night as well.
?If Sango were to ever hear about it--- not only would I be beaten to a pulp, but you as well. You did agree to come with me in the first place. Therefore-?
The car stopped, her body lurching forward as the momentum of her body stretched the seat belt to its full extent.
?We?re here.?
**
Not in the least sadden by her departure, she boarded the plane glad not only of the case she was just beginning, but the fact that she was not only free of Miroku but of Houjo as well. So she was ecstatic, a spring in her step as she charged her way through the impossibly long lines leading to bag check-in.
It wasn?t too long before she found herself heading to the gate just about an hour before boarding would begin. Her walking slowed as she came nearer and nearer to the waiting area surrounding Gate 23A, her stomach experiencing a few knots and turns.
Sweat threatened to roll down in trickles on her forehead, despite the full blast of cold air running through the entire building. Her heat picking up speed, pumping faster as the last of her steps took her closer.
Her breath was only slightly faster than it should have been. Gripping the material of her shirt while shouldering the carry on bag higher onto her shoulder, she took a deep breath in hopes of calming the rest of her body.
This being her seventeenth--- yes, seventeenth plane ride for Kagome. So it was only natural that she be a bit scared?
Planes were scary after all, where they not?
Not even on the plane yet, and she could feel the beginning of hyperventilation taking over her body. The sharp intakes of air the only sound her ears were able to catch. She could feel her grip tighten on the cloth she wrung in her hands, the knuckles turning a startling white as her grip only increased with each intake of breath.
It was getting harder to breathe.
The edge of her vision begun to blur, taking on a gray quality as it thinned out her vision. A dizzy feeling made her lose her balance briefly, leaning to far back, she fell. Her head soon came in contact with the hard cement of the floor--- carpet her only cushion.
It wasn?t long before her graying vision turned a startling black as she lost all consciousness of her surroundings.
**
The rush of air past his face was just enough warning. Leaning away as far as he could, he dodged yet another swipe from the beasts claws. It was hard, with the damage done to his leg, to not only dodge but also block all his attacks as well.
His heart beat wildly against his chest, a growl emitting from his chest as yet another punch was thrown his way.
He glanced at his hands as he moved as far back against the wall as he could. The bandages preventing him from doing much damage if any at all--- though he knew he might regret it later, he ripped through the reddening bandages in hopes of having a fighting chance against the wolf youkai.
With the speed granted to him by his ancestors, he twisted away from the wall before the wolf youkai could strike again. Hand outstretched, bloodied claws ready to tear at the oncoming youkai; he pushed off head first into battle.
The wolf?s eyes widened briefly at the change in his preys change of mind. The surprise flickered across his senses, quickly being replaced by the faint surge of glee at the thought of a challenge.
After all, it wouldn?t be any fun if the hanyou didn?t put up a fight.
Inuyasha on the other hand took advantage of the brief surprise, if only for a slit second. The opponents fist missing inches from his face, his own claws scraping against the plump cheek.
He had drawn blood.
A smile lit his face as yet again he saw another flicker of shock cross his opponents face, anger quickly rising as his youkai begun roll off him in waves. Hardly anytime to catch his breath, his opponent came charging at him, his anger taking over all else after being scraped.
It was later that this act of stupidity made on his opponents part that he realized was the reason for why he won the fight as soon as he did.
With his mind made up, he too charged forward--- the game of chicken commencing.
As they quickly moved towards one another, the last possible second before each collided with each other, Inuyasha sidestepped only to quickly spin. His foot rising as he brought it up to collide with the wolf youkai?s stomach. As soon as the blow was made, he quickly pounced on the fallen youkai only to use his claws to shred him to pieces.
It wasn?t neat, but it had gotten the job done.
A puff of air escaped him as he drew away from the mess. His face tilting up as he tried to sniff at the air--- but the air was too covered in the scent of blood to help him.
He let his eyes roam the entirety of the alley, picking up no other youkai in the vicinity. How long that would last however, was uncertain.
So without any hesitation he turned to leave, running as fast as he could towards the one place he knew would give him shelter. Though he hated to use it.
He would just have to deal with Kaede.
**
Arms stretched above her head, she stepped off the plane glad that she had finally made it to the Koishi District. A slow smile spread across her face as she moved down the terminal, the sight of grumbling passengers throwing glares at her way not going unnoticed. She huffed a bit.
It wasn?t like they should be mad.
After her little fainting spell, the flight attendants had managed to drag her on the plane as disoriented as she was. During the overnight flight, her hands had gripped the seats as she once again hyperventilated. Panic taking over as she tried to calm her breathing. The passengers on the plane had been sympathetic at first, but her fear of planes had gone just a tad bit over exaggerated.
That is to say?. uh?. well screaming apparently wasn?t looked on too kindly.
So maybe she had a little panic attack; so maybe she hyperventilated and passed out again; so maybe no one got sleep to sleep a wink as she kept them awake with her fright.
It wasn?t anything to get mad at, was it?
No, she didn?t think so either.
So, ignoring the chilling glares--- she headed towards the baggage carousal. Pausing once she reached the machinery, carefully looking over ever piece of luggage in search of her own. A few moments passed until she finally saw the two black duffel bags. Reaching out she quickly grabbed the straps, pulling it off the track.
Turning quickly, she raced to the exits. Her movement brining her out into the bright light of the sunlight?s morning rays, obviously they too hadn?t avoided the heat blast either.
Her hand shot up into the air, waving frantically as she tried to grab the attention of any taxi?s passing by.
After all, she didn?t want to be late for her appointed with Kaede. She was after all going to give her free room and board during her stay.

Authors Note: This was rushed--- I?m going to the fair tomorrow, and Sunday I have to work on a project with my group from school. Ugh, but I wanted to get this out no matter how bad the run-ons and grammar and all that wonderful stuff is. It?s also a bit shorter, but not by much. And I promise to make the next chapter more interesting--- Promise!
Well, I hope to be updating this story sometime next week/weekend. I should be able to.
Oh, and please review---- REVIEW!!!!!

LOL, poor Kagome and her phobia of flying. The image of the flight attendant dragging her onto the plane in order not to miss their takeoff slot was very funny, as was the other passengers initial sympathy turning to irritation.
*rubs hands together* Next chapter seems to promise a Kagome/Inuyasha meeting. Cant wait! Keep writing please, Im very much looking forward to more
