The Chase 2/?

Written By Yours Truly!~

Disclaimer: Me. No. Own. Inuyash&co. But I like to imagine that I?ve stolen Miroku for myself. Mine. ALL MINE!!!!

(Last Chapter: Why don?t you go read and find out, I just posted it yesterday!!! Oh, fine?. WA a department of the government who handles creatures under the description of mmma or magical/myth/mutated/ and abnormal creatures that is. Sango?s section obviously in the extermination/protection area as well as Kikyo being her competition and Miroku not her boyfriend- yet her boyfriend. Kagome has just gotten her first case. I think that?s it!!!)

**

At that moment her life changed. The picture she held in her hand was the beginning of what could only be a most interesting turn of events to ever take place in her life.

Kagome?s heart stopped as she gazed at the profile of her next case.

And what a nice profile he had?.

?.did she just say that?

The picture was mildly blurry, due to the fact that the photographer took it right as the person- no hanyou, jumped. Descending, his hair was flown back like a silver flag blown in the wind. And?. and he had ears atop his head.

How cute. Er?.

She wasn?t all too sure as to what he was wearing, his body somewhat hidden by a couple of trees in the way. All she could see was a bright red, covering most of his body, leaving the rest to her imagination.

Not that she was one to imagine such things; she was after all not some lecherous priestess taking after the likes of Miroku. Nope, not her!

Despite the blurry picture, his face was easily seen, his amber eyes bright amidst the darkness of his features.

He was truly a beautiful creature. Something wild?. which is exactly the reason her services needed.

Slowly, and reluctantly she set down the picture only to pick up the paper that had previously been attached to it. It would give her both the statistics of the person and what would be needed of her when the time came to search him out.

Gently, so as not to smudge the paper, she brought the paper closer to her face so to read the information below:

WA//Section-85.6 Under Direction of Team Leader

Stats for Item: 3990-630HT

Name: Inuyasha (LNU)

Class: 7B

Species: Hanyou (Taiyoukai/Human)

DL: Unknown, proceed with extreme caution

CReason: Rogue youkai, suspected involvement in incident involving case file 3288-215SJ date on the thirteenth of July of this year.

Mission: Capture under law 5.4 section B, prohibiting the usage of weapons of mass destruction without a license, or if falling under the category (mmma), also following law 3.9 section A and C, leaving designated area without notifying province head, and entering into province without notifying district head and entering area prohibited to any one person falling under category of (mmma). Is to be captured alive for questioning. Use of weapons is to be limited to ones abilities unless TeamLeader gives prior permission. Should-

(She really didn?t understand their need to go over every little detail, as she had been doing these sorts of cases for almost four years and counting. But they obviously needed to cover every aspect, maybe for legal reasons. So, skipping as much as she could, she looked for what she hoped would be Eye Witness accounts-)

Eye Witness: None. Videotapes and Security Equipment of 3990-630HT stolen. 3990-630HT was last heard to be in the Koishi District.

(Stolen? Really, the department was getting soft.)

-End-

It took a moment for her mind to register that there was nothing more on the page, a lone clue to his whereabouts, and a slightly blurry picture her only way of identifying him.

She pushed the rest of the papers into a pile, trying to see if there was any further information as to his location, if he had any type of attacks she should know about. Anything that might lead her to capturing Inu---3990-630HT and adding yet another successful case to her perfect record.

Unfortunately she was only able to find the typical documented papers. Giving background information on the history behind a hanyou, and the general information given on a taiyoukai. Nothing she didn?t already know.

She was about to stash away the papers into another folder for the cabinet behind her, when another picture flew out of the stacks of paper, landing softly on the floor next her right foot. Bending down carefully so as not to knock away the other papers, she slowly reached out her hand to delicately pick up the photo.

As soon as the picture was in her hands and brought into the light it slipped from her fingers, only to land on its front. A choke could be heard stumbling from her mouth as she tried to stop the trembling as the image she had seen. Calming herself, while also chanting the words ?it?s just a picture nothing more? over and over in her head as she once again bent to pick it up.

There staring at her, was the picture of man; the reason for why she had joined the WA Department to begin with.

His eyes glowed an eerie red, purple eye-shadow darkening his face as if to make the red stand out all the more brighter from his pale ivory skin. The angular features of man who would pass as both handsome and feminine; she could admit the attraction he held. His long ebony locks, wavy as they cascaded down his back. The smile the only hint to the evil that lay beneath the beautiful exterior of his costume; this was not a man.

Looking below the picture, she read the two words that made her heart beat faster.

?Definite Connection?

Whether they were enemies or allies, she didn?t know, but this case, this very case would finally bring her to meet Naraku. To meet the man who had been responsible for all the pain in her life.

Turning her eyes away, she brought the picture back to the manila folder, closing it softly before setting it aside. She could feel her hard breathing, the picture having more of an affect than she had wished.

To be scared of a picture; Sango would laugh at her.

Kagome took a deep breath, holding it for but a second before exhaling. She waited until her heart rate begun to slow, pounding a slower rhythm that was normal.

It was a moment before she was able to calm herself completely, unsure of whether she should contact another ?hound? in the department to help her out. She shook her head at the thought, a new determination taking over. She would solve this case just like the others, but this time she would do so without help. She was after all the best. And how else to prove that she was the best; then by taking on the one person who haunted her to this very day.

A smile lit her face, the first big case to set off her career. If she succeeded, she might just get a promotion.

Her mind registered the fact that she wasn?t exactly suppose to be going after Naraku, but for once in her life, she would finally have permission to also research him in files that were usually off-limits. Possibly giving her the chance to go after not only this Inuyasha character, but him as well. What more could a girl ask for?

Well, maybe a boyfriend--- but that was beside the point!

Glancing about the room, she jumped up from her seat. Her arms raised only to wave about the room as she begun to do a victory dance---

?Kagome??

Her dance stopped mid-step as she heard her name. A question flashing through her mind as she turned slowly to meet the person behind that voice--- ?Why doesn?t anybody knock??

Mild surprise shook her as she saw the last person on earth she wanted to talk to. Heat, and an impossible amount of her blood supply rising to her face, flushing her like a red tomato out on display. She tried a weak smile, but it came out more like a grimace as she looked over the quizzical face of the boy before her.

?Houjo--- uh, how nice to see you!?

Really, everyone comes at the worst possible moment. But that was Kagome?s gift, or rather curse; she could still remember the incident involving herself and drunken Miroku in the storeroom with her birthday cake. Sango had teased her for weeks about that one, Miroku on the other hand seemed a bit too pleased with that event.

?Higurashi, I?m s-sorry for bothering you. I?m glad to see you?re up and about.?

She blanched for a moment, wondering what he could possibly mean when another thought struck her.

He wouldn?t--- no he would. And, the last time she tried to escape his devious plots to trap her, she had given him the excuse of a cold. Or was it the flu?. stomach ache maybe? She wasn?t sure.

Her mind searched for another possible excuse as she noticed his mouth begin to open, the words soon to tumble from his mouth.

He was going to ask her out. She knew it. He knew it. They all knew it.

Whether or not she could throw him off with a reasonable excuse was the only thing stopping him from getting his claws into her.

Her eyes roamed about the room, trying to find something, anything that might stop her from her doom. She was about to give up and give into his annoying demands on taking her out, when all of a sudden her eyes landed on the manila folder that she had just set down on her desk. A sudden bit of relief flooding her senses as an excuse so flawless--- so true that she knew without a doubt she wouldn?t have to deal with the sad puppy eyes only he could do.

They were too cute for his own good, scaring away even females from the amount of cuteness he could muster in them. It was truly a scary picture, one she hoped to avoid if at all possible.

?I was wondering Higurashi if you would like to accompany me to---?

With a new sense of hope, her hand reached out to quickly grab the folder, bringing it in-between the two adults, stopping Houjo in mid-sentence.

The silence as he stared at the folder, a comical face of confusion taking over his determined features as he glanced between the folder and herself. Moments passed, their eyes blinking, the only sign of life other than the rise and fall of their chests as they breathed in the quiet air.

His mouth once again opened, his words beginning right where they left off as if there had been no interruption whatsoever.

?---the orchestra this Saturday Evening.?

She blinked a few more moments before saying the words that had been on the verge of her lips the moment he had walked in.

?I can?t.?

His eyes took on a strange quality--- widening to a size that was unimaginable to even the anime world, glistening as if tears would tumble from those long eyelashes any moment. She tried to wave around the manila folder in her hand, her mouth temporarily out of commission as panic took over at the sight of his eyes taking on the look of a sad, cute, wittle puppy.

Her mouth begun to move up and down, sounds finally leaving her lips as the excuse finally confirmed the reason as to why Kagome Higurashi was unable to go on a date with Houjo. Who he knew would date him if ever a free moment were available. After all, Higurashi was in love with him, wasn?t she?

At least, that?s what Houjo told himself, a rationalization that kept him the happy-go-lucky boy that he was.

?I have a new case?. it just came in and I?m leaving tomorrow night. So, sorry Houjo.?

The puppy eyes quickly left his face as soon enough a smile took its place. His rationalization taking on a whole new meaning as he was yet again rejected, but she had a good excuse and therefore the world was all right. And next time--- yes next time, Houjo would get his girl. They might even hold hands and?.

His musings continued on, as he plodded out of her office, leaving a triumphant Kagome to her thoughts.

Today was not such a bad day.

A new case, avoiding for at least a few more weeks the chance of being asked out by Houjo, and the chance to just maybe take on Naraku. How could she not be happy?

So with a smile and a bit of jump in her step, she took to her computer, hoping to research a bit before beginning the search that would lead to the person who would not only change her life, but her whole perspective.

**

His breath was ragged, beads of sweat running down his back, his forehead, every inch of his body as he found himself a safe corner in a dark alley for the night. He tried to beat down the wave of nausea threatening to take over. Glancing around, he found a piece of cardboard, a good enough size to hide his form in case anyone thought to look down the alley. His arm reached out to quickly drag it over, placing it in front of himself, shading him from view.

His body froze as a wave of something else hit him. A feeling of anticipation as if something was about to change in his life. Shaking himself, he pushed the thought to the back of his mind, focusing on his senses as he hid from the minion he knew were still following him.

Hopefully he wouldn?t have to run this night.

:-? Poor Houjo... can we say desperate, or psycho? :pale:

Love the plot. I'm definitely interested in seeing how this will turn out. And what in the world was kagome doing in the storeroom with a drunk Miroku and bithday cake?

  On second thought I have a pretty good idea and will try attempting it with Miroku myself...

Can't wait for more!

Poor, delusional Hojo. Can't the guy take a hint?

*grins* Im really enjoying this story. Kagome's character is very upbeat and funny; I have a huge liking for her already. Her interest in the 'profile' of Inuyasha had me smiling, although the fact that she skipped a section of her instructions might come back to haunt her in the future.

LOL, is there anyone else who would like to learn more about Kagome trapped with a drunken Miroku and a birthday cake?

Looking forward to chapter three please! (And I hope you feel better soon, although if it means more chapters I might wish that you stay ill for a little longer.... :D )
