Far from the Heart: Prologue

Hitomi stood in awe starring at the fields in front of her. The smell was not like it should be. It smelled of blood and war, the smell she had grown to know. But what struck in awe, was not that of the blood stained fields, or the hundreds of dead bodies that covered the ground. It was of a castle, not far off in the distance. Nothing but rumble, it reminded her of a place she once knew.

"It can't be...I can't be in...Fanelia..." She starred at the castle, before speeding off towards it. 'He might be in there...I have to find him!' Hitomi stopped when the real bad rubble started. 'Wait for all I know, this is just a vision...maybe even a dream.' She started to walk through the rubble, barely noticing that as she continued walk, the dark it got around her. Hitomi suddenly stopped, as everything around her went black.

"Van?! Where are you?!" Hitomi felt like she was going to fall though the black abyss. She wanted the only boy she couldn't stop thinking about, at her side.

"Van...Please if you can hear me...Help me!" Hitomi fell to her knees. If it was a vision, it was a long one. 'Maybe I'm just asleep...but why do I feel like, it's more then that'. She cringed and started to cry, moving herself so she could pull her knees to her chest. She buried her face into her knees, unable to stop crying.

'I've lost all contact with him. I should just get over him, he's probably married any ways.' It had been four long years, since she left Gaea...and him. She thought she would forget about him, and her love for him. But as time continued, she felt regret for ever leaving him. ' Oh Van, why did I leave.' She laughed to herself, a painful laugh, answering herself out loud through her tears.

"I was afraid. I left him because I was scared. I am so pathetic." She returned her head to her knees crying harder.

"Your not pathetic Hitomi. Everyone gets scared." Hitomi lifted her head, to meet sharp blue eyes.

"Allen!...What...are you doing...here?!" She scooted back from him a bit, but didn't stop crying. Allen just shook his head at her, looking at her sadly.

"He won you." She watched him disappear before her eyes. She just starred, tears continuing to fall from her eyes.

"I don't know if won...is the correct word." She felt strong arms come around her, pulling her back. Hitomi shut her eyes tightly, only to notice a field smell about her. Her eyes snapped open, starring fully at the boy she thought she would never see again.

"Van!"Hitomi turned herself, wrapping her arms around his neck immediately. Van smiled, hugging her back. He finally pulled back, still holding her gently.

"You've been crying..." Hitomi looked down slightly. Van smiled gently again, wiping her tears from her eyes.

"I've...been worried...Van where are we?" She looked around, feeling like she was trapped in a black hole, where even time stopped. She felt him lower his arms from sides. She looked at him, then screamed. Van was starring down at his chest, covered in deep gashes and bruises. Tears filled Hitomi's eyes once again, watching Van look up at her slowly, obviously in pain.

"I'm...sorry Hitomi." Van ignored her question before, he lowered his head, then disappeared as Allen had.

"Van, no! Come back!" Hitomi cried out, trying to reach for him.

"He isn't coming back. You will see none of them ever again."Hitomi turned around, to see her worst fear. Dilandau. "Aww...is poor Hitomi lost and all alone?" He pulled out his sword pointing it at her. "What a shame. I thought Van was always going to protect you."

"This isn't real!" Hitomi yelled at him, standing up.

"Oh it isn't?...Then you shouldn't feel this!" Before Hitomi could even process what he was talking about, Dilandau rammed his sword into her stomach.

Oh no! Both Allen and Van abandoning her?? Poor Hitomi..left with Dilandau, obviously in a bad mood. As usual. Although thats not a bad thing, entirely. He's pretty cute when he's, well, a guy. And isn't stabbing you in the stomach. But anway, I can't wait to see what happens! Don't leave us hanging!
I'm surprised I'm the first to reply, this is a really good start! Please say Van comes back to her..*sniffles*...ah, hell. Update soon!

AN interesting start, I'm not sure whether its a vision or not but actually it read so well that I like it better that way, it adds an intriguing bit of mystery to the fic. There was one bit of grammatical error that caught my eye (it was a little distracting) you spelled rubble as rumble... they're two separate words.
