A/N: Standard disclaimer. Hope you enjoy...

___

It was Relena?s favorite time of day. The sun?s deep yellow and red hues reached down to kiss the endless blue of the sea. It was such a beautiful sight, one she rarely enjoyed as the Vice Foreign Minister because she was too busy working. The crew had wandered off to the kitchen to eat, so she was alone on the deck.

?It is so refreshing to be alone and so very peaceful? she thought as her blue eyes smiled.

It was times like these that she could think of him and somehow not hurt as much. Her heart was still shrouded by sadness and whispered to her that maybe things were not what they seemed that night, but her head would not allow her to think those things. She knew that the knowledge of never having her feelings returned would stay with her for a long, long time.

The sun now was barely peaking out over the edge of the sea; slivers of light were colorfully dancing on the caps of the relatively calm waves. All was silent. Relena closed her eyes and breathed the sea air deep into her lungs, her mouth slightly open. Her mind was perfectly clear when a pair of bright blue eyes invaded her peace.

?Damn it!? she thought as she opened her eyes quickly, not wanting to think about him again just yet. Instead of closing her eyes again, she decided to look at the sea.

Unfortunately, she noticed that the sea made it worse; the brilliant blue color matched his eyes and seemed to stare at her endlessly. But, the sea held much more emotion that he ever let his eyes hold, she sadly noted. With that thought, she was able to close her eyes and relax once more.

The darkness of night slowly crept in and would have faded the dancing waves into nothingness if it had not been for the full moon defiantly glowing, like a nightlight for the world around her. She could now lie down and gaze out the stars. The night had been her solace and companion, just like the sea since she left. There was something about the endless and all encompassing nature of it. Perhaps it made you realize how small you and your problems truly are, thereby erasing some of the pain.

Relena heard footsteps on the deck and found that a few men in the crew had also decided to come look at the stars this beautiful night. ?Oh well,? she thought, ?it was selfish of me to want to keep it for myself.?

She hastily got up and prepared to greet the men, curious as to who would be out here. Most went to bed or went to the rooms to do whatever they wanted to do. Their work was over for the day. Relena made Trowa?s form out first. His spiky hair gave him away. It wasn?t until the other two men were much closer that Relena was able to determine who the other two men were.

?Trowa, Juan, Jeremey,? Relena said kindly, nodded her head in recognition. Trowa and Juan just paused and nodded back, but Jeremy took her acknowledgement as an invitation to join her. He rested his elbows on the side of the ship, just as Hugh had on the sailboat. The corners of her mouth lifted briefly, thinking of the nights they had shared together like that.

?Isn?t it beautiful out here?? she said reverently, not expecting an answer.

Jeremy just nodded, seemingly too entranced in the silence of his surroundings to answer.

Relena was relieved to see that Trowa and Juan had walked on to pick something up and then return below deck. She was not ready to have a conversation with Trowa yet. She wasn?t sure she was prepared to answer the questions she figured he would ask.

Although Relena was disappointed that she was no longer alone, her companion did not seem to request her attention, and she could almost enjoy it the same as if he wasn?t there. They stood like that for a good twenty or thirty minutes before Jeremy spoke.

?Miss Relena, excuse me for asking, but several of the crew are wondering what you are doing here??

?Doing here?? she asked startled. She did not want to lie, but then again, she didn?t feel that telling the whole truth would be a good idea either. Besides, she had not even told Hugh everything. She at least owed him that much.

?I was in a canoe when a storm came and I hit my head. Hugh saved me.? Silently, Relena thought, ?Well, that much is true.?

?Don?t you have a bodyguard? Jeremy asked innocently, still looking at the dark sea.

?Yes, but I went out by myself.?

?Oh, I bet they don?t like that.?

?No, he doesn?t, but I needed to be alone.?

?Oh,? he said suddenly looking at her. ?I guess you wanted to be alone now, too.?

Before Relena could say anything, he disappeared. She felt guilty that her statements caused him to leave, but was relieved at the same time. Her skin prickled and the hair on her back went up. ?Heero? her mind whispered. She did not have time to be angry at it though, as her heart was now skipping a beat.

A voice called out in the darkness, ?You didn?t think I?d forget about our night together, did you??

Relena?s body relaxed and tensed at the same time, recognizing the voice to be Hugh?s.

?No,? she said softly.

He came up and wrapped an arm around her shoulder to embrace her.

?It?s so nice to be alone together again,? she whispered to him. He responded by softly kissing her waiting lips.

Relena didn?t know that she was wrong. They weren?t alone. In the shadows stood a man whose hair and eyes were masked by the night. He watched as Hugh wrapped his arm around Relena?s waist. His eyes narrowed, threateningly, and his body tensed as Hugh reached down to kiss her.

?I better figure out what he is up to soon,? he thought. ?Relena?s getting too close.? He couldn?t help but wonder if he was concerned because of who this man was or because of what she meant to him.
