Healing ? Chapter 5
A/N: Life is strange journey. Sometimes you follow your dreams and sometimes they find you. What truly matters at the end is how you feel about yourself when you look back at the choices you've made.

They had been at sea for 2 days now. Instead of the beautifully old sailboat that Relena had come to the city in, she was now in a more modern and much larger ship. Because Relena hadn?t planned on coming along after Hugh switching ships, he never thought to tell her.
She sighed wistfully. The boat was very nice and comfortable but somehow the beauty of just the two of them, miles away from shore, on a sailboat was much more ? well ? romantic than this. Of course, it wasn?t Hugh?s fault. He had done his best to make sure she was comfortable and tried to spend as much time with her as he could, but he was much busier now.
In turned out that the sailboat was Hugh?s but this boat was his fathers. His father had died suddenly of a heart attack a month ago while at sea. His crewmates docked at the city they had been at a few days ago, that had been their destination at the time, and notified the family. Hugh?s mother had asked him to get the boat for her. The boat her husband had spent many years of his life on was what she needed to accept and heal from his untimely death.
With the boat, however, came crewmembers as they had taken care of their business and were ready to go home. Some of them were able to find alternate routes home, so luckily the boat was less crowded than it should have been.
It was lonely being the only female on the ship. Sure, the men were nice to her but it seemed that they thought she ?belonged? to ?Captain Hugh? as they called him, and so they treated her a bit oddly. Relena decided it would be best to stay out of their way as much as possible. After all, they had plenty of work to do as some of the crewmembers had already found alternative routes home, and that meant more to do per person.
It wasn?t until today that she discovered that Hugh also hadn?t told her that he picked up a new crewmember. She had been on the deck, looking at the sea, as had been her habit lately, when she noticed a man not too far away looking at her. The sun was beaming into her eyes, but she thought she saw spiky brown hair. Her suspicions were confirmed later when she saw him again. It was definitely Trowa. But if he was here, did that mean Heero was here too? He had mentioned that Trowa was with him.
Almost against her will, she could not help but scan the deck for his unruly chocolate brown hair. Her heart skipped several beats as she kept expecting to see him. A part of her was relieved, parts disappointed, and parts hurt that she did not find him. She continued her search later on in the day, but never saw him.
Relena jumped as hands went around her waist and a voice whispered in her ear, ?So I see you?re looking around. See anything you like or are you going to stay with the Captain. I hear he really likes you.?
Relena smiled as he kissed her hair. ?Hmm? I?m not sure.? She said with a glimmer in her eyes.
?Some women have said he?s a good kisser.? Relena laughed at this.
Turning around in his arms, ?Then I?ll have to see about that?? Her eyes danced as she teased him.
He kissed her softly, as he had many times before, but this time - this time there was more to it. He opened his eyes to meet hers and smiled, but his eyes reflected a smoldering desire. She knew he wanted her. She was about to kiss him again when they realized that they were being watched. Looking over, Relena saw Trowa watching them with a hint of a strange look on his face. Relena wondered if Trowa would tell Heero, or perhaps Heero saw if he was here. She began to look around the ship once more and couldn?t find him, so her gaze fell back on Trowa.
Trowa had a flash of amusement on his face this time. He knew why Relena suddenly looked around. Instead of talking to her, though, he decided to leave her alone for a little bit longer and observe these two. Relena looked back to Hugh, who she could tell was definitely not amused that one of his crewmates had interrupted this moment, although probably unintentionally. His annoyance subsided when he saw Trowa?s impassive face concentrate on his work once again.
?Relena,? Hugh started, ?Who were you looking for a minute ago??
?No one.?
?Please tell me,? he requested, eyes begging to be let in on her secrets.
?I thought I saw someone I knew, and wondered if it was really him. Hugh, how many new crewmembers are on this ship??
Satisfied with her answer, he thought for a second. ?Three, I think.?
?You think??
?Yes, see when I went off to college, dad had to change a lot of his crew. There had been a horrible storm and a lot of his crew got hurt, a few were even killed. Anyway, there are actually only a couple of people here that I know.?
?Oh.?
?It actually concerns me. I shouldn?t have allowed you to come with me considering that there are all these strangers aboard and you are the only female. And a beautiful one, I might add.?
?I?m sure I?ll be fine.?
?Well, I insist that you start staying in my quarters at night.?
Hugh obviously hadn?t thought of the implications of this statement until after he said it. He genuinely was concerned about her safety. Realizing what he sad, embarrassment flashed in his face.
?I mean?I?m not asking you to sleep with me. Not that I don?t want you??
Smooth, Hugh thought. He really sounded stupid now. He had flirted with beautiful women before, but there was something about this one that made him do and feel things he hadn?t before.
?Thank you,? she blushed, looking down at the deck.
?You don?t have to answer me now. Just think about it, okay.?
Relena slightly nodded and leaned into him. He knew that there was someone that Relena was not telling him about, someone that had hurt her. He had looked for signs of obnoxious behavior or cynicism on her part, but found her to be nothing but pleasant and sweet. There was no excuse for what this person did to her. It was obvious that he did not know what he was losing. He would make sure that he did not make the same mistakes.

YEAH! GO HUGH!!! Why is Trowa there...? Dum de dum!! Oooo, this is so interesting! Must go on! please! I think Heero's probably really jealous now! The only bad thing about this story is that it gives me the WORST cliffhanger aches. Yes, cliffhanger aches. You know those pains you get when you need to know what happens... eerr... anyway...
