To those of you that are reading, I hope you enjoy.

It seemed that they Heero had been leading her through the maze of dark hallways for hours, but in reality it had only been thirty minutes. Although he had his gun drawn, he still held her as close to him as possible.
Heero, of course had remained silent. She could tell that he was fighting to ward off his guilt, at least until she was to safety. She felt his mouth brushed her hair and ear. A barely audible, "Almost there" sounded from his lips.
He rounded the corner slowly and made his way to a door. He then glanced around him and quickly keyed several digits into a keypad that opened the door. Motioning Relena to follow, he guided her out the door, closer still to safety.
Relena didn't know if it was a floodlight or a security light, but her eyes hurt from the bright light that illuminated the parking area outdoors. Heero was trying to keep to the shadows as much as possible, but the light seemed to touch everywhere. Cautiously, he stepped into it, holding her close behind him.
'There's no way,' he thought 'She's going to get hurt because of my mistake.'
The scuffle of footsteps gave away someone else in the parking lot. He quickly pulled her down to crouch between two cars that were closely parked together. He was surprised, as he held her in his arms, that her heart was beating a little bit fast, but not racing as he expected it to be. He looked into her eyes and saw trust. She knew that if anyone could get her out of there it would be him. Heero counted to two minutes after he heard the last voice. Then, he cautiously and slowly got up from his lowered position to see if anyone else was around.
A quick look assured him that they were alone, so Heero again, led Relena down the path to a car at the end of the lot. He looked around once more and then quickly punched his hand through the glass, not even grimacing at the blood that pooled on his knuckles.
Relena looked at him concerned, but could tell from the quick flash of determination she saw in his eyes that now was definitely not the time. She saw him looking around the car, and then he looked back to her.
"Relena, I need you to get in the trunk."
She nodded with understanding; he had to get through a checkpoint before he could leave the site.
He quickly opened the trunk and assisted her as she climbed in. Slowly, he closed the lid over her, giving her plenty of time to get use to the surrounding.
It was a good thing he closed it when he did. Too late, he felt the air shift and noticed a coworker walking up to him. She was very nosey and would make this difficult with her twenty questions. Before he could decide whether or not to shoot her now or wait to find out how much she knew, the voice said, "Hey, Heero. Your shift over?"
"Yes."
She began to swing her hips back and forth as she walked over to him. ?You know, Heero. My place is very comfortable and close by. Why don?t you come home with me??
?No, Maya? he said, his eyes slightly narrowing.
She shrugged and headed off to her car. He watched her leave, surprised that she let him off the hook so easily. He climbed into the car and started the ignition. It was then he thought about what Relena just heard. ?Damn it? he said softly under his breath as his grip tightened around the steering wheel. Not only had he left her, forgotten who she was, betrayed her, raped her, and put her in danger, now she had to hear that. Then again, maybe she hadn?t. Maya was far enough away and Heero was sure that voices were muffled in the trunk. He decided to concentrate on driving for now. He knew the perfect spot to hide her until she was safe.
Relena had heard, but strangely, instead of wondering or being jealous, she was still stuck on this woman?s name. Maya? It was a unique name, but definitely one she had heard before. They had almost made it to her hiding place when she remembered. The morning after she had spent the night with Heero ? that time that he had left her to take care of something back home ? she had heard the others talking about Heero ?getting around.? When she walked away, she thought she had heard one of them saying something about a Maya being a real hottie.
And now, a woman with the same name was propositioning Heero? It seemed too strange to be a coincidence, even if he got a lot of attention from the opposite sex. She had been there the whole time, from right after they first got together and now was working with him! There had to be an explanation.
