Weeeeeeeeeeeeee. On I go with crazy fun! I?m having the best time ever seeing all this in my head. I?m so glad I started this! I wish I could draw or animate or something, because I sure wish I could see this somewhere besides in my head. A common lament, surely. As usual, I don?t own GW or much of anything in general for that matter.

Awaking after a few hours of sleep, Heero thought to himself about what to do. He had to report to the High Council in less than a couple days, but in this form it would take more than that just to get to the mountain where the Elders resided. At least Relena would be with him. Elder Wufei would be pleased. He had been the one to lead the campaign against the Enchantress. So much animosity for this little creature curled so close to him for warmth. Of course he had not considered her a threat. He had gotten sloppy this past century. How could he forget how she had held back thousands of humans and commanded their loyalty and respect? But she had used words, not weapons, and her magic had only reinforced her ability to be heard and to enforce the peace. He was fooled by this one, and because of that he now may be cursed to lead a life without flight or fire. A terrible punishment for his carelessness. He thought about killing her right then, for even as a human he felt the power in his muscles to do such a thing. And as he thought it she took the opportunity to sigh in her sleep with a little whistle of air and seem to burrow into his chest. They lay like that for a while.

Suddenly he felt something he thought he no longer had a need for. It was made even more confusing due to the fact that dragons only go into heat once every few decades, if that. But the feeling his body was experiencing and the signals his mind was relaying to him all pointed to his going into heat right now. He was sure it was some sort of corruption that this prison of a body was forcing on him. He tried to adjust around what was making him so uncomfortable and thus make it go away. In the process he felt the need to distance himself from Relena?s warm, soft, pliant body. Relena made a little noise in her throat when he moved away. He just couldn?t win today. She almost purred when his warmth returned, and the noise made him smile involuntarily. Too bad she wasn?t a dragon. . . she would have had such nice wings. (He had always been a wings and tail man. . . ) Of course his problem only got worse. Maybe she wouldn?t notice when she woke up. Or help you fix it. . . a bad little voice in his head tried to assert.

When Relena finally did open her eyes, Heero was not next to her, but her robe she had handed him at the start of all this was certainly on top of her instead. She wondered briefly what he possibly could have found to wear, and then the hapless boy actually walked into her field of vision and she had to stifle a bark of laughter unbecoming in its loudness. Heero looked ridiculous. There was a ridiculous helmet perched on his head, dulled and rusted with age. It didn?t fit him very well, and as he pushed it up yet again so that it didn?t cover his eyes Relena couldn?t help but think that the past knights who had come to vanquish him had been pretty burly. He had on a chain mail shirt that looked, well, a little melty on one side, and a bit bloody on the bottom (it was probably best not to ask how that particular knight had met his end). It was also too big for him, and it hung down to the top of his thighs. That was fine with Relena because it obscured the shirt he had on under it. Large puffy sleeves that had gone out of style ages ago were the most notable, and it was bright red and gold so you couldn?t help but stare. Maybe staring at the shirt was for the best because as her gaze drifted down she totally lost it and collapsed into a pile of helpless mirth.

Pink pantaloons and black and white striped tights! It was too much.

Heero advanced on Relena scowling, and strapped on a belt and scabbard with sword. He waited with arms crossed for her to stop, and when she finally ceased her laughter she just looked up at him with an eyebrow arched.

?I had to make due with what fit best.? She continued to stare at him with a smile plastered across her face, eyes shining from the tears she had shed from laughing too hard. ?. . . what do you think happens to a knight?s pack of gear when he dies? Often it and the horse are left with me. It isn?t my fault that these damn humans are a bunch of dandies seeking glory with even less sword skill than sense.?

?And so you?re an expert then?? Relena gestured towards the blade at his side. Heero?s lips thinned out as he pressed them together tightly. Obviously he didn?t want to remark on whether or not he could use a sword. Relena highly doubted it. ?I think, for the record, that the idea of going out to kill anything for glory is barbaric. I?m glad they didn?t kill you.? He gave her a look of surprised consideration.

?We leave soon. Get ready.? He turned away from her quickly. Relena pulled on the robe he had given back to her, torn as it was. She gave her corset a look and then decided against putting it back on. It was a stupid and useless thing anyway. As she fished her wand out from under the rock where she had hidden it, Relena felt her stomach gurgle. Food. She needed food so much it was a tangible physical pain in her head as well. Heero came back with two packs that looked old and a little cracked where the leather was old or water damaged, but they looked like they would hold together for a little while. Without telling him of her hunger, (fearing another episode with the raw meat) Relena followed silently behind, the pack strapped to her back.

The day was so bright. All she could see was sky and mountain wherever she looked. They kept walking, or rather hiking, up and down rocky outcroppings and through small stretches of flat peaks that joined one another. Every so often there would be a flower, but mostly all she could see was rock, lichen, and the occasional patch of scraggily grass. The wind blew her hair all over, and she knew she must look a mess. Her robes tangled in her legs and Heero was constantly waiting for her to catch up with an impatient look on his face. What he didn?t know was that the reason she was so very slow was that she was weak from hunger and beginning to get sunburned from the constant exposure. If it had been morning when they had emerged from his cave system, it was now at least mid afternoon and they had not stopped once. To make matters even worse, all that Relena was wearing were thin slippers that were torn in various places, as well as forming blisters in on her feet in other spots. But she would rather hold her tongue. Heero was already so impatient to get wherever it was they were going that he seemed about ready to kill anything that got in his way. Beware helpless mountain goats. In her mind Heero viciously fought against a particularly threatening goat. ?I shall kill you for interfering with my mission!? ::brandishes sword:: ?Myeeehhhh? ::the goat bleets and lowers its horns:: ?Eep!? ::Heero makes funny yelping noises as he bounces down the side of the mountain, after being rammed by the goat:: Relena chuckled. . . and collapsed.

Heero turned back around the corner of rock impatiently. Where was that lady? For a powerful witch she sure was slow, and it would be until well past nightfall tomorrow that they reached the cave of his closest neighbor at this rate. Hopefully his neighbor would not kill them on sight and they would reach the Elders and straighten all this out. Observing her body stretched out on the ground and obviously unconscious he had a moment of panic. All the blood drained from his face and sank into his stomach as he rushed forward to pick her up from being face down in the dirt. Was she ok? What was wrong? Had something happened? If she were to die, he didn?t know what would happen to him, either. A human forever. He shuddered. Focusing back down on Relena, he took a water skin out of his pack and placed it to her cracked lips.

Cracked lips? What else was wrong? Looking down past the ripped hem of her skirts he saw her all but useless shoes, complete with toe peeking out from a side. Her body shook a little as he held her. Fatigue, he guessed. Even if he was a child of the mountains and sky and used to living on little sustenance and doing a lot of strenuous activity, she was a domesticated thing. A creature of comfort. She coughed a little at the water and opened her eyes only to encounter his own not three inches from her face.

?Unnnggh.? She groaned.

?What??

?I thought maybe I had hallucinated everything. But then you had to go and ruin it by existing.?

He released her and she dropped back. ?Fine. Stop whining. We need to keep going.? Why was he so angry at her words? Just a second ago he would have done anything to help her and now he just wanted to wring her neck.

?I need to eat something first. I haven?t had anything in more than a day.? He shoved something that looked like a pile of lichen. It probably was a pile of lichen. At least it wasn?t the raw meat. Relena couldn?t afford to be picky. It tasted a lot like lettuce. There were worse things. At least now she felt like she could stand up again. Her muscles and her sore feet protested greatly, but on she forced herself to go. Heero looked off towards the other mountains as she ate and sat and only turned towards her when she stood up again. Pretty sure her wince of pain had been covered up, she forced a smile. He shook his head at her and tore off first his poofy left sleeve and then the right as well.

?What are you doing Heero?? She yelped as he lifted the side of her skirts. ?Get away from me! I?ll turn you into a newt this time!? She fumbled for her wand as he stood up and forced her to sit down. It was an empty threat and they both knew it, she wouldn?t be able to do much of anything except make light until her mental energies restored. He tore the sleeves into strips and began to bind her feet before throwing away the useless slippers over the cliff side. As he worked, Relena felt a spark of gratitude. At least it would be less painful to walk now, even if it still hurt. ?Thank you,? She said softly, before leaning down to give him a kiss on the cheek. Confused, he brought his head up and they knocked heads painfully. Both of them blushed, clutching at their bruised skulls. Relena wondered what had possessed her.

?Let?s go. There?s still a long way to Quatre?s cave complex.? So that?s what they were doing. Going to see another dragon. Just peachy. Were they all as pleasant as Heero? Relena tried to picture Heero as one of the more cheerful dragons and shuddered. They would be lucky to come out of this alive.

?I found something!? Duo ran back cheerfully clutching Relena?s corset in his hand, waving it around. Trowa blushed a little, seeing her undergarment. Treize looked shocked.

This was certainly a dragon?s cave. The locals they had questioned had pointed straight to it, and reported how they had seen the dragon carrying a struggling something. It was a common sight. No one seemed to have connected that with the disappearance of their beloved Queen just yet. They had time to stifle a scandal. Once Milliardo Peacecraft had been contacted, he had taken over the workings of the kingdom temporarily and sent Duo, as the head of Her Majesty?s Guard, to help in finding her along with Duke Barton and Treize.

?Give that to me you idiot!? Treize grabbed the piece of lingerie from the now blushing braided man. ?Did you find anything else?? Duo shook his head. ?Then she could still be alive and safe. I will find you, sweet lady, and then you will fall madly in love with me.?

?Hey! We?re with you. It isn?t like you?ve done anything except order me around and talk at Trowa.? Duo didn?t have a very good opinion of this pompous ass. Treize gave Duo a dark look and began to draw his sword, ready to defend his honor. He was stopped by Trowa?s hand. Looking to the silent Duke he nodded and put the sword back. Now was not the time for infighting. Duo looked relieved, he didn?t know what that weirdo was capable of.

?We must find the Queen first, Baron.? Trowa said in his quiet voice.

?Treize.? The Baron said with a flourish. ?Just call me Treize.? What arrogance. Duo snorted and Treize gave him a sharp look before stalking out of the cave with Relena?s corset tightly clutched in his hand.

?What now, Trowa?? Duo looked to the silent man. He liked Trowa?s ways and admired the conviction he had to seek out the woman he professed to want to protect.

?I think we need to seek out the core of their government and lodge a formal complaint.? Duo started at this statement. Trowa nodded. ?Yes, we?ll do this the diplomatic way.?

?Better tie up, ?Treize, just Treize?, then. He?ll get us all killed with that overblown sense of bravado of his.? Duo and Trowa made their way out towards the entrance of the cave. It was already getting dark.
