Chapter 7 ? Becoming

Recap ? So far, we know that Heero has kidnapped Relena and doesn?t seem to remember her. He tells her that he has done this because Relena?s husband was responsible for the death of his wife. We know from Relena?s flashbacks that at some point in the past, when she was running for President, he was her bodyguard. We also know that they got to know each other better during this period (wink, wink). Who are the mysterious spouses of Heero and Relena? Why can?t he remember her? What will happen now that he is getting his memory back?


Heero?s face was buried in Relena?s long flowing hair. She had heard him say her name, and wondered if he remembered now, but instead of asking she held him close to her.

Several minutes later, a soft voice said, ?What have I done? I?ve totally screwed up!?

His body tensed when Relena?s soft hand stroked his cheek and gently tugged at his chin. His impassive blue eyes looked intently into hers.

?I?ve got to get you out of here, Relena.?

Determined blue eyes defiantly flashed. ?I?m not leaving you.?

?We have to get you out of here. I can?t protect you here. Please let me protect you.?

?No.?

?Relena??

?No Heero! You have been gone too long. I can?t bear to lose you again.?

?Quatre is in trouble.?

?What! Why?? Relena asked; her eyes mixed with confusion and concern.

Heero looked at her pensively and then stated as if it was obvious ?That?s who they think you are married to.?

?So you thought he killed your wife because you lost your memory and they told you she was on the colony he destroyed??

A faint ?Yes? could be heard, as Heero had moved into the shadows, away from Relena. He couldn?t bear to touch her after what he had done to her. He had betrayed her trust. He had put her in danger when he swore to protect her. He had raped her. Yet he could tell by her gaze, by her comments earlier, that she still loved him. Her love was so pure. He knew that she would understand, but he didn?t want her understanding. His actions shouldn?t be understood. She should be mad at him, hate him even. Yet here she was asking, no demanding that she stay with him because she did not want to lose him. He could never make this up to her.

His hands suddenly felt very hot and heavy. He looked down amazed to find them covered with blood and every second with Relena, the trail of blood on his hands began to eat up his arms and his body, consuming him. His betrayal, the hurt he had caused her was worse than any other thing that he had ever done. He had hurt the very thing that kept him alive during the wars. He had hurt the person who loved him no matter what. No rationalizing about the lies he was told would make the blood stop consuming him. He had to get her out of there. He had to warn Quatre. He had to atone for his sin the best that he could.

Relena knew that Heero was a quiet person. She knew that he was hurting inside and that he blamed himself for what had happened. She slowly got out of bed and walked over to him. He was so busy looking at his arms in amazement that he never noticed until Relena planted herself into his arms and hugged him.

?Heero, I love you.?

This hushed, sincere voice was more than he could take. His body began to convulse and he pushed her out of the embrace.

?We are getting you out of here now.?

With that statement, he grabbed her arm and led her down the dark hallways to her freedom.

Awww... Poor Relena. Heero, why can't you just tell her you're sorry? She forgives you!!! She loves you for god's sake! Hm.... Getting more and more interesting by the chpater!!! Keep those chapters comming!!!!!!!
