Chapter 509: "The Bow's Spiritual Power"

Hitomiko-Kagome-the bow-Kikyou? Let's pray not. Hitomiko starts this out by claiming the bow Kags holds does not suit her...Kags is all like-Um...what? Kiks gave this thing to *me* she never even friggen used it!

Hitomiko continues to explain-"Look, your not even really *using* the thing. All you do is shoot it. It's got power ya know. Some miko you are. Ya can't save me that way." She alters her tone somewhat then and tells Kags to toss the bow aside, at least then she'd be able to spare her life. Kags ponders over if it's Kikyou's (nonexistant) presence in the bow that is scaring Naraku again-and-as Kags ever and always is-Is propositioned by Naraku again to do the right thing that'll lead to the wrong thing no matter how she looks at it.

Said things are: "Shoot the spider controling Hitomiko, which is located in her chest, and escape with her life yet taint her heart with the regret of destroying the miko for her own life" to which Kags is all: "Fuck off!" OR "Just die." At which point Hitomiko slices Kags with her power-making a stronger blood-barrier, and advances on her.

Kags tries to escape-but the barrier holds her back and Hitomiko takes a bit of the blood from the circle and licks it-then blows a breath and the circle ignites in flames...Kags freaks and lifts her bow to Hitomiko. Naraku chuckles thinking she's intending to destroy Hitomiko to survive, but finds he's mistaken when Kags only shoots at the wand of bells that the other miko carries, breaking the spell long enough to escape the flames.

Ducking the bells as Hitomiko uses them as projectiles at her, Kags runs out into the shrine halls-followed by Naraku's haunting voice informing her that there's no way out unless she destroys Hitomiko. Then he tells her that she won't be saved even if Kags uses her "holy arrow" on her. Kags comments that he's told her quite a bit, he just chuckles and informs her in a round about way that either way he'll win.

Kags pauses at a bell stuck in the webs and notices blood. Instantly the whole thing bursts into flames and she's forced away. Hitomiko appears from the shadows behind the flames and informs Kags that the flames are linked to her, it's her blood casting them. Get too close and she'll roast. (Roasted Green Miko....yummi...Dinner.) Hito-chan blows her breath again and Kags takes to the floor wondering what the hell she's gonna do now-and then recalls Hito-chan saying that she only shoots the bow, she doesn't use it's power. The last frame holds Kags looking at the bow and thinking: "If I use the bow's power, can I save her?!"

So ends this weeks tale...And what I have to say in response to it: WEELL, Very good Kagsey! BUT I am withholding your cookie till you actually DO something! So far all you've done is run around like a friggen chicken with her head cut off! ::HUFF!:: Get the feeling that again-Takahashi's dragging this out further then it should be...So-yes Eden-chan...I'm betting it's exactly to keep the royalties flowing in. Nonetheless...the camera is still rolling, and I'll see you next time with another insertion-where Kags will hopefully FINALLY be something more then Inuyasha's little cheerleader.

Chapter 510: "Hell"

Opening up with Scruff attempting the red Tetsusaiga (which we've not seen for AGES-holy cow...she does remember that it has earlier powers!) and failing....like always...fucking sword...

Inside the "Temple of Doom" Hito-chan again gives Kags the choice to die or shoot her through the chest. Kags refuses and reminds us that either way she goes about this it's a plus for Narki. Speaking of which, he pops up behind Hito-chan and tells her to make Kags suffer more so she'll shoot her.

Kags trips. Falls through the floor. And winds up in Hell swinging by spider webs! Yaay! Hito-chan, who now looks like the Ju-On (or the Grudge-see that movie if you haven't) comes down after her-and goes all: "Now, while you're just hanging there-pay attention...Welcome to hell, no this ain't an iillusion, and by the way-in case you were wondering-I'm not a miko any more." And she tries to choke her.

For the first time since the first manga chapter waaaaay back in 1996-Kags puts out her hand and uses her miko powers to knock off what looks like a youkai hand from Hito-chan's arm. The spider in the middle of her chest then spits out webs that emit the fire from Kags' blood-(supposedly-who the fuck knows how the spider got ahold of her blood.) and Kags is buried in it.

Hito-chan explains that these are the flames of hell that keep burning hotter then sin, but never destroy your body-so you'll just keep burning like that for eternity. (wee-sounds like fun-fun!) Kags grows weak-and finally thinks-"The spider-shoot teh spider and it'll be alll betta." and stands up drawing her bow...but then remembers..."Oh wait...yeeah...can't do that!" She looks at the youkai hand and recalls that there was a deep sadness emitting from the hand when it clutched at her throat (WTF? KAGS? WHEN DID YOU BECOME AN EMPATH??!! ) To reassess her feeling-she grips the hand and ~PoOoF!~ Kags turns around to Hito-chan saying "shoot me (I'm an Elk! Shoot me!)" and she sees that Hito-chan's back to normal-and the hand is a human hand too.

Kags is all--"Uh...won't you get burned too?" And Hito-chan's all like..."Pfft, nah, not any more...look haaarda..." And our little green miko discovers "OH! She's see-through! And look! There's Narki-pooh!...now what do I do?"

The last frame is Hito-chan saying: "See? Now shooty through me ya dumb cantalope!" (okay, so she didn't say that...but I feel like saying that...)

So ends this chapter...STILL NO COOKIE FOR KAGS TILL SHE DOES SOMETHING! She's spent the past 2 chapters running around in circles like a chicken with her head cut-off and has yet to do a blasted thing! x.x What is wrong with that picture? Did Sango and Miroku joining all those hundreds of chapters ago ruin her for the rest of her life? Is she permantly stuck as an Inuyasha cheerleader? SOMEONE GIVE HER POM-POMS THEN! Can you tell I'm peeved that she's a wimp? ::sigh:: well-here's hoping we'll get something outta her next time. ciao 4 now!

Actually got it on time this time! And it's another triple post for me.

Chapter 511: "Kagome's Spiritual Power"

Hito-chan tells Kags' to shoot. She hesitates. Hito-chan tells her it's the only way we'll get outta here, conentrate and shoot.

Narki grins thinking that it's done. Kag'll close the door on this. Kags prays and fires the bow, Narki seems triumphant-for a second-before it slips through Hitomiko and splits his head into pieces.

The spell broken, Narki disappears again and allows the rest of the Inu-gumi into the temple. Before Hito-chan takes to the afterlife for good, she tells Kags that she's mysterious. There was no spiritual power emitting from her when she used the bow. It was all the bow. But, she has to have some, otherwise she could not be doing what she is doing. Hito-chan collapses to the floor then-and with her last words informs Kags that something or someone has/is sealing her power away, and it's been like that since Kags was born.

The Inu-gumi find them at last, Inuyasha asking if his little green miko is okay, and Miroku pronouncing Hitomiko dead. (like we couldn't figure that one out.)

Back at the random village with the random villagers, they all thank the Inu-gumi (when it was really all Kags' doing) for giving Hitomiko a chance to R.I.P. While the houshi suggests that they build her a shrine, Scruffy and Kags seem to have a role-reversal as he finds her standing-staring off into space on her own-and asks whats the matter.

With none to promising answer, Kags reflects on what Hitomiko revealed to her before her spirit passed on for good. Staring off again-she somehow links the sealed information to Kikyou...Figuring that she was the only one who could have sealed her power.

And that's that for that this time. Big Q here is-How the hell is Kags gonna get her power unsealed, and by who? Kiks is loong gone! And-wtf Naraku?! That was the lamest escape in the history of your escapes! Just suddenly disappearing from the panels like nothing had happened! I suppose I ought to give Kags her cookie...but...Nah...took her FAR too long to do anything, and she needed serious prompting to do it! ::sigh:: Oh well, till next week my friends.

Thank you Miko! Sorry I haven't been back in a few weeks... just moved, new job, Scottish Polo... anyway, I'm glad Kagome is good for *something* but it looks like we'll be waiting another year to find out what that something is. Boy Howdy.

I have a messed up idea: this bow, do you think that the reasson why Kikyo gave it to Kags is cause IT'S the way she's going to unlock her powers? The other miko said that Kagome needed to use HOW to use the bow, maybe in learning to do so, she'll learn how to truly use her own powers.

Obviously just a theory, but its my brilliant brainstorm of the day.

We both know that by the time Takahashi reveils the tru answer we'll prolly be old and senile

Chapter 512: "The Right Wish"

Back in her time our little green miko is finally facing the END of her ninth grade year and looking at applications for High School, where unlike here in the States getting into High School is much the same as trying to get into college, right down to financial aid to do so. Quite obviously she's very worried about it-as she's missed nearly ALL of her 'freshman' year saving the world in the Sengoku Jidai.

After picking up an application from the High School she wants to attend she heads home and tries to pray that she'll make it through the exam-surprised that it's soo close-and moves to her room to begin cramming.

Back in the Sengoku, the rest of the Inu-gumi explains Hito-chan's last words to Kags to Kaede, and awaits her idea on the subject. While Miroku and Sango deliberate on the new fact that Kagome has powers surpassing merely purification and holy arrows, Kaede reviews quietly the very distant past-waaaaaay back in the first 3 pages of the 1st manga where Kiks is dying and asking Kaede to burn the tama with her body-and comes to the conclusion that the tama sealed Kagome. Not Kikyou.

Removing ourselves from 500 years ago and back to modern day, Kagome sits at her desk while her Jii-chan offers her one of the fake Shikon no Tama charms for luck with her exam. (Remember waaay back in the 1st volume where he had boxes of them and was planning to sell them off?) Jii-chan goes on to explain-upon Kagome's question about them-that legend had it that with the right wish made by the last person to hold it the Shikon no Tama would be purified and vanish from the world....However upon asking what that wish was-he explains that that was never passed down in history. (Duuh! It hasn't happened yet! Idiot.)

Now alone again Kags recalls that until she went to the Sengoku she could never remember the shikon no tama's story no matter how often she heard it-and considers if that's also due to her power being sealed...She then flips that she should be studying and tries to-though ends up falling asleep-to be woken up hours later by Inuyasha opening her window and sitting on the sill watching her with a sad face. She flips again, but Inu comes into the room anyway and finds the fake tama and asks about it. After breifly explaining what it is she asks him not to bother her she has to study. He stays of course-studying the fake ball on her bed with an even sadder face...

Kags ends up reflecting on the right wish...and recalls that Kikyou had asked him to become human...She eventually gives up studying and plops next to Inu asking about what Kaede thoght about her seal. Inu tells her...and explains that the tama was and is niether good nor evil, it's all up to the person holding it...But when Kagome was born the evil part of the tama within her was afraid of her huge spiritual power and so sealed it. Kags wonders if the tama has a will of it's own...Inu says "Who knows? All I know is that I think that Kikyou wanted no more fighting when she passed away-and the tama granted her wish..."

Kags wonders aloud that if her seal gets broken, will she become stronger? ( Uhh..DUH. Girl-yer power will surpass Midoriko's without a doubt!) Inuyasha is surprised that she still wants to fight, she explains that if she doesn't she can't really stay with him and the others, then reminisces to herself that if the tama is taken from Naraku there's still a chance to purify it-and it'll be up to her since Kikyou failed and is no longer in existance...."But what is the right wish?" She wonders as the sun comes up and she flips out at the time.

The last frame is a little humor where Kags and Inu return and Sango and Miroku inquire about her studies and she admits with bags under her eyes that she got no where...Inu acts surprised and Ship-dip asks if he was bugging her.

SOO That was a LOT of info for not a helluva lot said...But it's a turning point in the story...Personally I think the right wish is Inuyasha asking the tama to unseal Kags, but I'm prolly wrong. We'll see though. Next chapter promises a "reactivation" of the shikon ball that Naraku has...So stay tuned for the next so-called "Shocking New Development!"

holy crap time passed, your right LGM, I can hardly believe it. And here we thought things like time were irrelivant. That was (surprisingly enough) a rather good chapter, and heck yes, lots of info for little or no actual conversation.

I think that I'm actually begining to see something remnicent of sunshine comming through this dark tunnle we've been forced through. Is that even possible?

20 pages in this-but not a lot happened....

Chapter 512: "The Dark Will of the Jewel"

We start out with a pretty color page of Fluffy vs. a pair of Oni. They let on that they know Sesshi lacks a killing katana and claim once they eat him they'll go after Kohaku. Seshhi just strips them f life.

Meanwhile, Jaken reminds Kohaku that the Oni and youkai are after his shard and we move on to a new scene.

Here we see Byakuya floating from the sky watching Sesshi's group when he spots a lot of black light coming from a cave in a mountain side. He stops by for a looksee and spies Naraku in it with the shikon no tama in front of him gyrating and letting loose a ton of black vibes. Keep watching and the vibes pierce through Narki and make a very familiar faced youkai emerge from his backside...(Guess Takahashi has no imagination left for new looking youkai...shame.) It bursts forth and zooms past Byaku whose all like: "Ookay..." and then inquires to Narki what it was. Narki informs him that *that* thing was not his bushin (incarnation), but The Dark Will of the shikon no tama.

Scene change! The Inu-gumi are walking-aimlessly-as always-and Kagsey senses some really evil shit going on. Scruff yells out it smells of Naraku. Hey, yay, now they have a heading! Anyway...

Back to Sesshi and friends. The shikon youkai is noticed by Sessh and he tells his gang to get back when it lands with a lotta esxplosive power in front of them sending everyone but Sesshi for a ditch. Full page lets you see it in full glory-and then it extends it's pretty very Mouryoumaru like arm for our Amber Hero's backside-trying to get the shard.

Rin grabs Kohaku onto Aun and takes off the ground while Fluffy goes "BANG!" and tries to claw him down. The shikon youkai smirks and lashes out to hit Fluffy in the stomach and then snarls: "You're weak..."

AND that my readers, is the end of this chapter. Not a lot happened in 20 pages...The inu-gumi and Sesshi-tachi have a new baddie to play with...but that's about it. We'll see what happens next week. Hopefully this arc will *FINALLY* lead to the closing chapter of the series...But I won't hold my breath. So, till next time!

Chapter 514: "Crisis"

As you will recall (from the above post) we left off with Sesshi facing off the shikon no tama's will in the form of a familiar faced youkai. Well, the face off continues as Fluffy attacks back in the same way-but-instead of his arm going right through this youkai's gut-it seems to get stuck. This is pointed out by our little Amber hero just before the shikon youkai tries to absorb him in.

Fluffy escapes-but with a very poison eaten looking arm. The shikon youkai attacks again-digging into his boa-apparently intent on making Sessh armless. Kohaku gains balls and telling Rin to get down throws his weapon down at the shikon youkai. Sesshi sees it and curses him for doing something so stupid and thoughtless, while the shikon youkai reaches itself up to grasp at Kohaku. Kohaku, so sure that this is one of Naraku's bushin and therefore cannot touch the shard on his back, leaps down into the fray only to find out-Ladeeda! He's wrong! And the shard starts to become poluted.

Fluffi leaps up to try to save him and gets three scaley tenticles shot through his arm. Now, nearly armless and hanging at the mercy of the shikon youkai Inuyasha magically makes his appearance and saves his brother's tailfeathers by slicing through the youkai's extensions. While Kagome and Sango run to the fallen Kohaku's side, Inuyasha faces off with the shikon youkai.

Miroku and Ship-dip do thier job of stating the obvious about Sessh, and Kags sees that the shard is tainted and announces she'll purify it. That's when she stops and looks at the shikon youkai. She seems to recognize him-then he whips his face around and looks her directly in the eyes. Kagome freezes-seems to go into some kind of shock-and collapses-the name game breaks out for her.

This wrraps up this week. Soo-so far we have a nearly armless Sessh and a collapsed miko. What will this lead to? Obviously the shikon youkai is the link between Kags' sealed power and the tama, but we'll see what flies next week. Till then, TTFN, ta ta for now!

I can't help it, its getting semi interesting. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what developes (if anything) from this peice of what seems to be actual story line.
