SPeaking of Charaters: WHo's the guy that Sousake hangs out with? THe Big guy who pulls the pin of the smoke granade on vol. 2 of "fluffy"?

No, I'll never get the name right! :-P

As for babysitting teens in command-I do that all the time. They are called Academy brats!

Hey, look! I just now discovered this thread! *hides from lou*

First off, episode 8. Funniest effing episode in the series. I love the stupid boyfriend.

Hmmm, fave character...hard to choose. Please don't hurt me lou.

Well, I said what I had to say...even if it did suck.

Got the Overload manga. Yeah, it's very different, but it includes thought blocks in there that are hilarious.

Thanks! They didn't really introduce him but he is in the end credits. FYI, vol. 2 is GOOOD!!! except the pony guy. Sousake got part of a clue during Kaname's "date" THe fact he mixes his words up when flustered is so cute! And he was really sweet in that episode. I think Kyoto needs to go with him on all his missions, maybe he'll catch on!

Seriously, Kyoto shined in that episode, even though she wasn't in it very much. THe hospital one was good too.

sorry about that. Hey, I never finished college anyways. Good luck next time!

They'll beg me to enter once I'm through. And meanwhile I'll just plot world domination.

I just yesterday discovered that I have Anime on Demand with my cable service, and lo and behold I can watch FMP and Fumoffu (or however the hell you spell it) whenever I please! Still, reading all of your posts has me insanely confused.

Is her first name Chidori or Kaname?

I know, rather pointless question, but for some reason it irks me when reading fanfic. Any help will be appreciated forever.

And yeah, Sousuke is definitely Mr. Sir Hot Pants. Yes. Hot. Very. Extremely. Hot.

Thank you!

Kaname is her first name.

Sousuke acts quite formal around her, in the beginning of the series I was half expecting him to start calling her Chidori-dono or something. I think most of her closest friends have adopted her first name.

Oh and people, if you haven't, read the novels. Read them. I insist! (Just don't read owaru day-by-day yet unless you want to spoil yourself TSR.) They're great and they offer more insight on the characters. http://www.boku-tachi.net/ - you'll find them there.

The one thing that we really skirted with Sousake is the fact he ISN'T Japanese. I mean is Japanese, but I believe he had never been in the country until attending school! No disrespect but Japan isn't known for it's military. No reason to go there. As American (and other countries) anime watchers, Japanese life is a bit confusing for us, I cannot imagine Sousake's utter misunderstanding of everything! We won't even get into the slang and the fact he really (proply) never learned kanji really well.

Sousake isn't clueless, well not really. If you had to work with a perv (Kurz) and an ex-Marine, innocent you are not! It's the translation of modern Japanese culture that confuses him. Japanese have ahabit not to be upfront with their feelings to the people around them, so Kaname adds to the confusion. I've seen all of fluffy and you can see Sousake's wheels in his head start to turn. He is catching on, if slowly. And Kaname is being more patient (a little) with him.

So a little off subject. Sousake would have read that most student in Japan would call each other by their last names. Whether or not this is true doesn't matter but to fit in he would do so unless instructed by the person to call him/her by their first name. I don't believe anyone told him he could.

SOusake's dilemma is best described like this: You, as civilians, are taken placed in a working military ship somewhere and expected to know your job, speak the lingo, and act in a proper fashion. Now imagine English (for most of us) is a second language.

Get it?

For Sousake, being Japanese doesn't mean is is Japanese CULTURALLY. All honestly, he would fit better in GB or USA better than in his own country. Sad but true.

Hehe, couldn't have said it better myself trek.

Whaddya mean!? :P That's one of the reasons I luff him so. *giggles* Just because of the amount of time I spent overseas as a military brat I really feel more comfortable over there than here in my own home country...

hrm... I guess that is kind of sad but true...

Anyways, it is kind of a strange form of culture shock. Poor Sousuke *huggles* know how he feels.
