Curiosity regarding your opinion(s) on Akito

"Once, when I was younger, the kids in my class played a game where they went around assigning everyone the name of a fruit. I asked them 'what should I be?' They laughed and told me 'You can be the rice ball'. Then they started running around chasing each other, playing... Every so often, they'd call out the name of another fruit, and that child would get to join in. But they never called me. I was too dumb to realize...there's no rice ball in a fruits basket."

True Kyou has the bad end of the deal, but at least he gets to live. (kinda) Akito's part of the curse will result in his death. I'd be pissed off too. Especially since no ne asked him. It would be different if he had volunteered for it, but instead, someone just told him he would be forced to die for these 13 other people. That just sucks.

Actually, Akito dying was something made up by the anime. In the manga there is no mention of that, but Kyo on the other hand is going to be locked away for his entire life once he graduates from high school. To me, Akito is just a spoiled brat who treats the Jyuunishi like play things and tortures them like a kid pulling wings off flies.

That is an excellant point. I guess one's veiw depends on whether you go with the anime or manga as a final source. The manga Akito is truly an a**hole. Among other things.

Well, I think that yes, going by the anime, Akito probably has it worse. But Takaya-sensei's actual work, which is still ongoing, is probably best considered the final source. Basically the entire last episode of the anime is given to artistic license (eg Akito's early death, Tohru talking to him, and Yuki being present when Tohru found Kyo). They had to put some sort of ending on it I suppose, because the anime storyline is about 1/3 of the manga so far.

Gahhhh...I wish takaya sensei would spit out more about the curse.

But still, Akito is one mean force to be reckoned with, at least with the jyuunishi. To Kazuma and others not affected by the curse, he's just a spoiled brat.

Having only seen the anime (by my friend's request) a week ago (Yes, I'm a newbie in this sense) I tihnk that my friend has a styronger hate for Akito than I do.

She's a Yuki lover, and since you see more of the torture Yuki lived, well...

I'm conscient he made it tough on everyone, including Kyo (my favorite), but I have no real hatred for him.

It's a very strong sadness for him. Or pity perhaps, but that's meaner.

Does anyone know where I can find scanlations of the manga, since apparently everyone knows about it, but not me, thus my feeling weirded out?

Just wondering.

Akito is a very dark character, even darker than Kyo, and though I haven't seen him transform in any animal, I think that since he bears the entire curse (as said in the anime by Shigure), that probably means that he can shape-shift into any animal of the chinese zodiac.

That's what I think.

And the birds, well... I've seen this a few times, mostly in G-Wing, in which Treize, the supposed enemy, actually deals with birds like this. They fly away then come back.

From what I've noticed, I think that indicates a very thoughtful, pensive, reflexive, personality. The character that deals with birds usually has a very bright mind, one that needs to be let loose once in a while, but cannot.

My opinion, again. The birds probably signify that Akito is very lonely, and finds company in free beings.

But if he kills them in the manga... No comment.

So... That's my opinion. Correct me if you have any proof against that. *shrug*

I've got to learn a lot more about it, of course.

Alas, he does kill birds in the manga, and he has a strange relationship with the bird of the zodiac, Kureno. Kureno, although 5 years older than Akito, acts a bit like his manservant and isn't allowed out much. We still don't know why he's kept so sheltered compared to the rest, but I have theories.

The deal with Akito bearing the brunt of the curse is unclear in the manga. We don't know why he's like the way he is. He's much meaner in the manga, too. He throws people out windows and scratches my poor Tohru-kun

I think he's a spoiled brat, but maybe redeemable.

You can't find scanlations anymore because the manga was licensed in English, and the first two volumes are out now. The later chapters are still coming out, and you can find raw scans of them and text translations. I suggest joining Fruity Group on Yahoo Groups to find out more about that.

Okay then. I guess i'll have to buy the mangas.

I hate licensing, but whatever.

Maybe Akito is so bitter he has to let steam out.

Poor birds...

All I know of Akito is what glimpses of him you catch in the first three episodes of the anime and the first two tokyo pop mangas.

But I don't like him.

Just because of what he did to Hatori-sama. T_T!

Can i ask one thing? I am also new to FB and never seen the anime or manga but know quite a bit about it. *Has been too so many sites i'm now dizzy @_@* And i love all the characters, for they all represent different things.

My understanding of Akito is rather complex, however, like the majority here, i pity him, but do not hate him. As for the whole bird killing thing, and to refer Crazyguri comment in relation to GW, i believe when he killed the birds in the manga, it was his end. But that doesn't make sense does it? I overall agree with Crayguri allusion, but when Trieze in GW let the birds go free, he understood people emotions and love the people for who they are, and thus loved wars for they dealt with people and their beliefs, as well as the ideas of justice and integrity. When akito killed the birds, he was giving up. Giving up on ever finding freedom, peace, of ever having his clan love him. And no matter what people say, i do believe akito does love his clan, in a rather obessive and sometimes eccentric manner, but he does love them. however, to him, that his fate, and thus his end.

But i seem to have rambled on quite a bit, as i mention earlier, my understanding of akito is rather complex and i will probably need to write and essay on it to ever make it understandable *cries at her incompetience of never able to explain things*

Anyway, i wanted to ask something because no one makes it clear on their sites.

Does the curse ever get broken?

What happens to Kyo and Tohru after he defeats the mouse? I mean does Akito let them be together or what?

Someone please reply soon
