Depends, are we talking inspiration or motivation :-?

I believe in love stories but despise romances.

I want to write fics that slap all the standard fanfiction conventions around the face with
a wet fish and call them Betsy ~ me to Wicked.

Maths help with motivation, but is awful for inspiration. Unless you are taking Quantum Mechanics...then if you're odd you may get a story idea out of it.

Beer, how are derivatives and functions going to possibly help with motivation?

I agree with Tear. All they make me want to do is scream. I try reading other people's fanfics. Sometimes just for the heck of it, maybe others I read it, think about it, reread it and then wonder how I could do things differently. Or perhaps dwell on what the other characters are thinking if it's a first-person POV. For instance we're reading the Catcher in the Rye. Those who've read it kno it's done strictly in Holden's POV. We don't get to see into the minds of the thers, we just assume what they're thinking based on what we learn from what Holden tells us. This is what I do when I'm bored and lack inspiration. I haven't actually picked up a pen and written anything as of late however. My brain is shot. -__-;;

I believe poeple get motivated by different things and in different ways. Just as I get inspired by things perhaps people think boring or whatever.

If you have a hobby, something that you really enjoy, there's your motivation. Or maybe watching a movie or reading a book to get you in the mood.

I don't usually have to DO or READ something to get inspired. Sometimes I can just see something, or hear something, like a word or someone's voice, perhaps listen to a song, and I get inspired. Or just go to the park and lay there in the grass... I love going to the beach at sunset with a glass of wine and a cigarrette... I'm not telling you to get drunk and smoke your ass off, but just that you don't especifically have to read someone's story to get an idea...

The thing is finding the TIME to write. ::sigh:: I hate my life.

Yea i was gonna say, hehe its kinda cold and i dont like the beach when its cold. I think another good reason as to why writers block happens is when if your writing a fanfic, and you haven't seen that show in like...say forever...you lose what you wanted to write.

Hate your life? hmm did you know there is a club. I'm still in line. ^_^ just joking.

I have yet to be inspired to actually take time and write something I really, really like.
